Greetings from Windsor, Ontario. I stumbled upon your channel just searching for Yellowknife. I’ve watched a couple of your videos and they are great. I didn’t realize Yellowknife was so expensive. The natural lighting in your place is amazing. Take care.
Hello!! Thanks for being so kind about my videos! I’m glad you have enjoyed them! Ha, yes renting is expensive for sure! Yes, I loveee the windows! Thanks for taking the time to leave me this comment! Have a great day!
The one downside to lots of windows is that's less wall space to pile stuff like shelving units . So you might only have the opposite wall from the window walls (that have other rooms on the opposite side) to place large tall furniture. Or perhaps lower furniture under the window sills. but otherwise yep, lots of window's lots of light and possibly a trade off with energy losses through glass as opposed to an insulated wall without a window in it. Lot's of great possibilities when you decide to built to suit.
Hmm, I wrote a reply here but it seems to have disappeared! I'll def take the less space for furniture problem over the not enough light problem. I'd rather pay extra in utilities too but my husband doesn't feel the same way lol! We don't pay for heat so that's no big deal but yeah I'm sure it's a lot more since utility prices are crazy!
Oh that's interesting! I like to be so careful with that information! I don't think it should be given out very much! I'm not sure places would accept that but it's worth a try!
Lol!!! It’s Tobias but he doesn’t let us call him that. When Alice was little she couldn’t say his whole name and so she could only say the last part. We all called him that for a while and now that’s all he likes. He will correct you if you say the whole name haha!!
Have been looking at Yellowknife, and I am amazed at the real estate prices, both sales and rental. I am loving Australia more and more right now. Of course we have our expensive areas, but they are city and coastal. Although, areas that I consider hot all year round are expensive because people are trying to escape the cold. Horses for causes. So I want to move to snowy Nth America. It seems isolated areas are expensive ,whether freezing cold or extremely hot, regardless of the continent. Love the channel. Let me live vicariously.
Haha, yeah I totally get what you're saying! haha! It's such a cool experience to live here though but I can see my kids moving somewhere hot in the future haha! I'm glad you can live vicariously though us! lol! I need to start vlogging our adventures more! I've been feeling uninspired so thank you for your positive comment!

Haben Okbai oh it’s should be pretty easy to move from Alberta! Cool I’ve never heard of Eritrea! I’ll have to look it up! So I would think just the regular moving hassle stuff like switching drivers licence, health cards, etc. And then just getting a job of course!
Wow! Here in Brazil when it's 8 C we are freezing. Unfortunately the houses here are not prepared for cold weather. So sometimes indoors is colder than outside.
@@LifeinYellowknife here in Guyana (a bit closer to the Caribbean), on cold rainy days its like 20c with wind chill and no one really wants to go out in that. our usual breezy nighttime temp is like 27c.

That's a great question. I haven't seen any farms with animals aside from a small place for the dogs for dogsledding. I think there may be an issue with acquiring that much land, possibly also with the climate but I'm not entirely sure. They do lots in the provinces below us though.
Sikder Diamond yeah I meant Alberta and Saskatchewan does a lot of cattle farming and agricultural.. etc. We def don’t here.. it’s really rocky.. not a lot of soil even grass... the climate would be a problem I would think but the land claim issues too. Best of luck finding the info you’re looking for!

I'm wondering what types of jobs are available? Or maybe what you're husband does? I'm a fuel tanker driver and I'm assuming that this would be available up there or something similar? But yes, the rent sounds high. I hope the wages are double from what we get in Colorado.
Hey! I’m about to do an updated jobs video so make sure you turn your notification bell on 🛎 😉 My husband is a nurse. Im not quite sure about that specific job I’m sorry!
Def look up some of my recent content. I have cost of living in a video I just did about bills and budgeting. My Yellowknife by month videos will show you what's in town. I have one coming next week about schools too. Thank you for these suggestions. Hope that helps! I'm working on a Q&A about Yellowknife soon too. Make sure if you're subscribed you have your bell turned to "all" then you won't miss anymore that might be useful! Thanks again!
Hi Cassandra, greetings from England. $2500 rent sounds extortionate; and this is coming from someone who used to rent in London. Can you please talk about all cost of living there; bills, education (I know you home school but if you send kids to school), most popular employers, industries, colleges, National parks, annual leave entitlement if any, health care, how soon would one get Canadian citizenship if relocated from UK. Are there seasonal workers? Do they cause problems? Are there rough areas? Are there churches? What’s the population. How much is car insurance for a truck (Ford F150 or similar). When you rent, what’s the minimum time and have much deposit do you have to put? Can you see Northern lights there? Is there tourist industry? Anything to attract potential tourists with? Thank you
