    just what is it? A power supply? Cranks out higher voltages from the 3.7V battery via the transformer? Is that it? He says we can go over 120V. it dangerous then or the current is way too low? What specs has it got like for current, for max voltage? How's it operate - like a constant voltage source? And so on. All things very obvious to electronics guys but not to people such as I who may be interested in having a go, giving it a try. Nicer if we knew a bit more.... :)

    Ridiculous circuit. Why generate a high voltage to do the job of what a 9 volt battery and single resistor can do? The charge developed in the 250 volt 1 microfarad capacitor might well destroy the device you are testing before you get a reading. Crazy.

      Tranformers are for AC voltage. The battery in this supplies, of course, DC voltage. This is a type of buck-boost converter.

      Looking at the schematic, I'm confused. It looks like the claim is this thing amplifies voltage from a 3.7V battery. It's DC, don't transformers and coils need switching or alternating current to work?

      Indeed ( yes ! ) ...especially useful to test the EHT diode in a microwave oven , testing this diode with a multimeter will show open circuit and the owner might throw away a working item ( tried - n - tested ) .. DAVE™🛑
