I've been wanting to try making a spot welding machine for a while, and now I feel confident enough to give it a shot. Thank you for sharing this fantastic tutorial!
A good spot welding nickel strip will not burn. The nickel strip burns on your welding. Because you use it at low voltage, high amperage and for a long time. Use at least 12 V and a duration of 0.01 seconds.
He hid the AC power and transformer parts from the front image, making it appear as if the welder is powered by batteries only. (It's for the electronic circuit only, as all knows) This was intentional, as he connected the output leads directly to the circuit that image! Clever way to draw attention, I like that. lol.

maybe the controlling board is that cheap but most of the cost comes from the power source. In this video he used a rehashed transformer of a broken microwave.
yes a controller that's a good idea, but also i've seen on other videos they use a simple mechanical circuit breaker its automatic once it senses the high current it cuts off
I don't understand electronics. But I connected the light in the car through a relay, so I know how it works. We control the relay with a button, the relay supplies electricity to the transformer, everything works. Hence the question: why a microchip and other elements?
Im the king of electronics. Looking good but you cane use only 1computer power suppy and haavy capistors for this project and click circuit with make only with relay
It works but In this project the 555 does not work as a timer but as a simple comparator (you could use a common operational amplifier instead). Then why you use the a big transformer if you need energy for very short pulses? It would seem simpler to have a capacitor bank that you could charge from the same power source.
Simplicity could mean a few different things. A capacitor bank is costy whilst you can get those transformers from garbage microwaves for almost no cost (not every time though). I think he rehashed one of them too, considering the part number of that transformer.
I would suggest to add capacitor parallelly to input side of that transformer you want to use as source of power for that spot welder. If it will reduce amount of inrush current to transformer and also to relay and ofc to your whole house as well
@@RJEDITALL I made but 1.5v output given. Thick(0.15) nickel strip not weld properly. Should I increase the transformer turns for 2.5 volt. Now I did 3turns.
Well mr balloney you are wrong i seen many new talent who just make as same and started by watching even i witness mine cousin who have nothing with electronic stuff from birth but he did... So its your thinking who have will he have way
If you can't understand the schematics and the wiring procedure without a voice explanation, this may not be a project you want to try at home. Regards.
