The game needed a free roam for every mansion so you can spend time looking for gems etc or have a better look at a mansion. They could have put a free roam mode after you completed most of the missions on one mansion or when you completed the game.
The first game had a WAY better atmosphere and was way creepier, realistic and quieter, only playing music during tense moments like hallways or bossfights. Dark Moon sadly doesn't capture that feeling, instead being extremely wacky and always playing music nomatter what. Though it's still an amazing game, I strongly hope 3 will focus way more on the premise of the original, being creepy, realistic and only playing music when necessary.
Although it seems ridiculous to demand realism from a game like this I have to agree. The entire feel was better. Objects moved nicer and sucking up ghosts combined with the rumble had a better feel.
nobody listen to anyone saying that this game is a bad game or it is worse than the first, this game is S P E C T A C U L A R, honestly, this is easily the best game on the 3DS and one of the best games I've ever played, it is not what you think it is at all and the gameplay, graphics, atmosphere, mansions are absolutely incredible, it deserves a 10 to be honest because it is that good, i think that it is better than the pokemon games and the link between worlds, please get it because it is absolutely mindblowingly good
Luigi's mansion 2 has descriptions of every ghost plus the scare scrapper ghost have there on short story but lugis mansion 3 has no descriptions of nothing for the ghost and the ghost descriptions and mansions descriptions of 2 were my favorite as a kid
Am I the only one that is disappointed LM2 is chopped up in "levels" ..and not a big adventure like LM1? ..im having a hard time going back to the game, cause I feel like Im being draged out of the game all the time! Game could have been/is great, but Im really disappointed!
***** Yeah, perhaps.. but I wasnt aware of it when I got the game! It ruins it a bit for me.. being brought back to the lab every 15-20min to listen to E. Gadd chat away.. the tention and exitement of the first game is gone.. the gameplay is good though, but I havent played the game in forever now!
***** I actually loved Luigi's Mansion. It's a very underrated game. I really wish I had the money, I would of bought this game in a flash......I never did get to play the sequel.
Surprinsgly I equally like the sistem of LM 1 and LM2. The thing that I dont like its that the doctor calls all the time for instructions like in mario and luigi dream team the only thing that I hate of the game
I just got a 3DS, but what game should I buy first? Mario Kart 7, Pokemon X/Y, Luigi's Mansion 2, Inazuma Eleven Bomb Blast or Inazuma Eleven Lightning Bolt? If you have any other ideas, please tell, because I'd love to play good games
Mario Kart 7, I beat and it didn't take me very long. It was really fun at first but then it gets boring because you start to know the levels like the back of your hand. Only races that will keep you on your feet to stay in first place is 150cc and mirror. That's it. It's a great game, yes. But get's over used. Even if you aren't a Zelda fan, I HIGHLY recommend you get The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It was so much fun. You'll have a blast finding all the Maias, Heart Containers, and exploring. The dungeons, places, etc. Are so much fun to explore and try to find all of the chests. Yes it might take time, since it's like a puzzle you need to solve, but it's so much fun. And the best part is, you don't need to know everything about the past Zelda games to understand this one. This game is so great! I normally by pre-owned games, but I knew I was going to love it. I never regret buying this game, because I know it will be fun to replay it because you never know if you could have missed something. c: Mario 3D Land was super fun. I had a blast with it. Some levels where tricky, but it was really fun to play and beat. I did replay a lot of the levels, yes I may know it like the back of my hand, but it was fun going back seeing if you missed any of the stars and to collect them. It was a great game. I loved it. I would recommend it IF you're a Mario fan, just because if you aren't you may not like it. I never played any of the other games, but i'm looking forward to getting Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon because I did watch a little bit of a walkthrough/playthrough and it looks a game you'd love. I'm also looking forward to getting Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate, just because i'm a huge Batman fan, plus it looks pretty awesome. :) Sorry that this was long, but I figured to mention some games that you didn't list that I thought would be great for you to try out. So hopefully I somewhat helped you find a game that you'd love. c: EDIT; I did get Luigi Mansion Dark Moon and I LOVE IT. It's so much fun. I would recommend you to get it. It's amazing. I won't tell you about it because I don't want to say any spoilers. :D
catastrophic3 Even Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate? I'm jealous, if you do. I can't find it anywhere at my local gaming store. :/ But lol that's funny. You know what they don't say, great gamers think alike. aha. sorry. I know. That was lame. :)
I loved Luigi's Mansion for the GameCube, but I never played this game as I didn't have a 3DS. Hopefully we'll eventually get a trilogy set for the Switch in years to come
Janni_zzz _ Different reviewers give different scores, that's why it's better to get reviews from channels that aren't companies cause their opinions will remain more consistent
Luigis mansion 1 is one of my absolute favourite game of all time. It was the good old days on the gamecube. I remember I was a bit scared at times but it was super fun to catch ghosts and solve puzzels. And not to talk about the atmosphere... Super intriguing and awesome music aswell. Just a couple days ago I wanted to play Luigis Mansion, the original, and so I sat down in front of the TV, turned it on and started playing. I played for a good 6 1/2 hours non-stop, that's how much I like it. I would give it a 9.5/10, I would have given it a 10/10 but the only problem is that the game is a bit short. I think the first one is quite superior to the second one, I still have yet to finish it but it's because it's less intriguing and not as fun as the first one in my opinion. I'd give it a 7/10.
WOOOAAAAHHH 9.3 impressed i Just pre-ordered my Legend of zelda 3 DS bundle and the games I'm most interested in is Luigis mansion 2, Ocarina of Time, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, and Kingdom Hearts. COME OM BLACK FRIDAY!!! lol
I’m so hyped for lm3 I remember playing lm2 on my original blue 3ds when I was younger it was one of my favorite 3ds games of all time so I can’t wait to play the 3rd one in 2019 on my switch
I'd recommend the 3DS XL - even though the size is larger, the 90% larger screens and longer battery life are definitely worth it. However I'd like to note that you should take breaks from the 3D effect during long gaming sessions, otherwise you might get a headache after an hour or two. There's a lot of games you should get, but if you could only pick 3 games I would personally get Fire Emblem: Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Resident Evil Revelations.
So I've got two questions; Does the game look this pixilated when you're actually playing, and which do you think would be a better purchase, Super Mario 3D Land, or Luigi's Mansion 2?
Hmm, I think I'm going to buy it. I only have two games yet and it seems lots of fun. One thing I'd like to know: How long (in hours) does the main story take, and how much time the end-game? I don't like games that can be 100%-ed in a matter of weeks. Pokémon, Mario Kart... that stuff.
Kid Icarus Uprising IS AMAZING, I have it and it rocks with a good long storyline, a fun multiplayer, excellent gameplay, and a Kirby airride-isk check board
There are a lot of improvements needed for multiplayer though. I would like a kind of rating for players, more filters on searching Scarescraper, and probably Avatar customization. Still an amazing game and one of the best game in 3DS :)
I'm hoping we'll see a positive effect from Nintendo's recent unification of their handheld and console software development. As I see it, it's the first step toward the console controller becoming the handheld, and hopefully the content as you described it follows suit.
Wow! I didn't know you have a channel, I look at your website a lot for locations of boos in Luigi's Mansion dark moon a star coins for Super Mario 3D Land!
@Alex Vizzini if you live near a target, theyre gonna have the regular 3DS for $129.99 and the 3DS XL for $169.99 from March 24-30. And if you buy Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and register both the 3DS and the game online, you get a free downloadable game. I'm getting Mario 3D Land. Or Starfox 64 3D. :)
They developed the game to be in 3D. The first game was intended to be in 3D, but 3DTVs just weren't popular (and still aren't). So, they developed it for a system that guarantees optional 3D for everyone.
Me too. Figuring out how to get the portrait ghosts from the first game is would got me hook on the original game. Oh well. They still said it was good.
I'm surprised they didn't reference the fluctuating FPS.. The framerate can drop significantly in some parts of the game it actually turned me off from playing it for a while
True, but let's not forget that 3DS was in the same situation as the Wii U for its first 6 months after launch. Super Mario 3D Land was the first real quality game for the system that wasn't a remake. The system has really gotten going since then, and the Wii U could well end up making a similar comeback.
he's probably talking about exclusives. because the only thing coming to wii u right now is late ports that people have have played or/and own already.
Between this, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Etrian Odyssey, the controversial Castlevania, and a few great eShop games, the 3DS has already had a great year. And with Devil Summoners, Lego City, Donkey Kong, and Animal Crossing all coming before summer, the momentum seems to be strong.
Nintendo reminds me of pixar. No matter how big Microsoft or Sony are with third party developers, Nintendos games always have such a beautiful and artistic quality to them that can't compare. I love Uncharted, Gears, Halo, Infamous, ect.. But nothing beats Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda games. The craftsmanship is just amazing with these games.
I felt they should have added a hidden mention mode or something. After beating the game I quickly got board. But now that I lost my copy all I want to play it.
Are you kidding? Luigi's Mansion 1 was very well received and is one of the greatest games available on the gamecube!! So many people were demanding this game for quite a while, including myself.
I LOVE number 1 and I like this one but it is lacking all of the atmosphere and creepiness of the original nothing but cartoony ghosts where as the original really scared me as a kid because you where walking into someone's home, there are real people with personality's and hobbies that you where interrupting which as a kid I thought that was really scary because I thought they would be angry and try to hurt me plus the original is a lot darker and has a lot creepier atmospheric music this one is still really fun though but that's the thing, its too fun and not enough scare
Taken at face value like this review does, yeah, the gameplay and puzzles of the game are really inventive and interesting... But I don't think it focused enough on game design and immersion. The beauty of the first game was that, even until the very end you didn't really know what you were up against. In Dark Moon, there are missions, a hub, menus, and the whole plot is given away in the first few minutes of the game. Sure, maybe the gameplay and ambience makes up for it, but it's worth noting.
I'm guessing the levels represent the mario feel in platforms but would of been nice if it stay like the original without any restrictions most of the time.
couldn't agree more, if luigi's mansion 2 was a wiiu launch title everyone would've had a reason to buy a wiiu. im so glad the game exists anyway because the original is one of my favorite games of all time and is so underrated.
Going into this review, I was worried they would give this absolute masterpiece a low score, but a 9.3 is a perfect score for such a brilliant game!
It takes you back to the organial like the game cube one they were creative and glad they brought the series back
Mario youre good and all...but luigi has some of the best games of all time!! *kanye voice*
***** I appreciate this comment

I still hope Kanye mistakes bird poo for yogurt because of that.
Luigi is far more superior than Mario with no power ups because he runs faster and jumps higher. Luigi’s weakness is just fear.
The game needed a free roam for every mansion so you can spend time looking for gems etc or have a better look at a mansion. They could have put a free roam mode after you completed most of the missions on one mansion or when you completed the game.
What's funny is the bonus missions are basically free roam modes if you ignore the objective of capturing ghosts quickly.
8 years later this game is still a masterpiece
Yup
Now it’s getting a remaster!
For some reason, I don't have an issue with the mission structure.
That’s because it wasn’t bad and worked great with the game design
I agree
The mission structure was actually very well done
I feel like Luigi's Mansion is a very underrated, often forgotten game. The original one that is. One of the best games on Gamecube imo.
Couldn't agree more.
What is your opinion on this game, the sequel?
The first game had a WAY better atmosphere and was way creepier, realistic and quieter, only playing music during tense moments like hallways or bossfights. Dark Moon sadly doesn't capture that feeling, instead being extremely wacky and always playing music nomatter what. Though it's still an amazing game, I strongly hope 3 will focus way more on the premise of the original, being creepy, realistic and only playing music when necessary.
yeah. just imagine what they will be able to do with a wii u version. also the game would look amazing.
+LungSusage It really would if it's on the NX with rumors being true! Fingers crossed!
Although it seems ridiculous to demand realism from a game like this I have to agree. The entire feel was better. Objects moved nicer and sucking up ghosts combined with the rumble had a better feel.

just finished this, it was incredible experience, makes me wish i played the first one :)
The first one was remake on 3DS if your still interested... 7 years later...
Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon is hands down the best Luigi mansion in the series
Love how Luigi says "Ciao" when he's done talking to Prof. E. Gadd XD

Brobarb THE FIRST GAME ACTUALLY IS MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME
I can get Luigi's Mansion 1 for around 40 usd and Luigi's Mansion 2 for around 20 usd. Should I get the first one or the second alone is fine?
Dávid Kalló get both, especially since 3DS games will eventually become hard to find
it depends from what you expect. First has thicker atmosphere, second gas better gameplay
Alec S I know this won’t help this situation, but in the future, never say “get both games”. They are asking which one for a reason.
Can somebody tell me if this is worth picking up for 20 dollars
Yeah its one of the best 3ds exclusives
It’s a steal for $20.00. Period.
Yes

Its an amazing game, honestly, the multiplayer is addictive while the story mode is so clever and fun!
Best game for my 3DS for sure

I think this one is better than my expectations but 1 was better, the first was even more scary, not that either are very scary.
I really wish Nintendo put this on Wii U or made a third one for Wii U. I'm really disappointed that they haven't.....
Why is it named Dark Moon in US and Luigi's Mansion 2 everywhere else?
because americans live in their own world
I like the first one better
I'd recommend the 3DS XL - even though the size is larger, the 90% larger screens and longer battery life are definitely worth it. However I'd like to note that you should take breaks from the 3D effect during long gaming sessions, otherwise you might get a headache after an hour or two.

Winster Chesty no it looks way better when your playing it's not pixels and if your talking about luigi's mansion dark moon then get that

yeah but for me it's neat that you can play such a game anywhere on the ads, whether you have a hd tv or not, so think about that
It's not on RUclips (gee I wonder why). It's on their website
Does this game have download play
Yes, and it works perfectly.
Imo this reviewer is the most honest in reviews
I LOVE number 1 and I like this one but it is lacking all of the atmosphere and creepiness of the original nothing but cartoony ghosts where as the original really scared me as a kid because you where walking into someone's home, there are real people with personality's and hobbies that you where interrupting which as a kid I thought that was really scary because I thought they would be angry and try to hurt me plus the original is a lot darker and has a lot creepier atmospheric music this one is still really fun though but that's the thing, its too fun and not enough scare
I loved the first one for the uniqueness of each of the ghosts, yet this one still looks fun, even though it lacks that.
And the Year of Luigi kicks off in a big way
I cannot wait for this, i have been spending so much time with fire emblem now its time for this one
Have you ever seen those shadow figures staring at you from the cliff sides in Mario Galaxy 2? That shit is scary
Lets make a game where a door to your right in the first few seconds of gameplay leads you to the credits screen! That sounds like a great idea!
couldn't agree more, if luigi's mansion 2 was a wiiu launch title everyone would've had a reason to buy a wiiu. im so glad the game exists anyway because the original is one of my favorite games of all time and is so underrated.
should I buy this or should i get yoshi's new island?
100% this, don't bother getting yoshi's new island, apparently it's not very good :L
ng3 is now multi system now,. tank tank tank is considered to be awful. the others may or may be for some gamers, depends on your taste.
