My wife and I visited the museum in Victorville, California a few years back after Roy had passed. It was a trip back in time as we both grew up watching their movies. They were the hero and heroine to many kids who grew up after the Second World war. I miss them still.
I get sick and mad at myself everytime I think of this place. Earlier in my life, while raising a family on the east coast, I didn't get to go to the RR museum. I always took for granted that it'd always be there. When it moved to Missouri, I figured I'd see it soon, or at least when I retired. Well, with the world spinning as fast as it does now, I missed it. Now, looking back, I know I missed one of the greatest treasures in my life. God bless R&D, and the Rogers family. I still miss R&D.
I remember when I was growing up sitting in front of the tv on saturday mornings with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich watching Roy, Dale and Pat. When I look around at the world now I find myself going back to those days. (Thanks to RFD TV for helping me do that). I am very happy to learn that they were both Christians. Maybe I will see them again!
I'm so sad I didn't make it before it closed. I'll always love Roy & Dale!
Happy Trails to you! Until we meet again!
Sure wish we hadn't missed seeing this museum.
I never personally knew Roy and Dale but I really love the song Happy Trails.
