Hello, Thank you taking the time to make this video. From the video I contacted the helpline and I think it may be because my 4 in 1 tool was out of warranty, they didn't send my tool for free. Instead they gave me a eBay item number for a similar tool to buy. Fair enough, I'm ok with that. What I don't have is the instructions. They said th tool from eBay would have instructions but I'd rather use the ones you followed. If you don't mind please could you take a picture and share?
@@sibox86onthebox Hi, if you watch the video I scanned the instructions and put it full screen in the video, so you should be able o read it if you pause the video. Good luck
Great video. Thank you for going to the effort to share it. I’ve just been able to turn that screw with a small pair of needle nose pliers, just like a baby set of cut lip pliers actually. One half in the cut out of the screw and the other half of the pliers on the outside of its housing. Mine needed ¾ of a turn to fully do the job but I only turned a ¼ of a turn at a time. Thanks again for the video, I’d give it 2 x 👍🏻if I could! Paul.
My machine was showing the same symptoms. I contacted Titan, they were very aware of the problem and the fix. They sent me out the tool (free of charge) and the machine is now working perfectly. Thanks for posting this great video.
I cannot thank you enough my friend. Worked like a charm. Took off the cowling (4 hex bolts)WD40 on it ... I had the one with a little hole so a rubber mallet and a nail moved it 90 degrees! Sorted!
Fantastic video! I was going to throw my strimmer away but got it working again thanks to your instructions. I had to rotate it more than 270 degrees, but it’s working great now. I also used a dart (after removing the flight) which fitted into the hole and allowed me to get leverage to turn the “screw”.
Thank you very much. Had the same problem today. Managed to turn the adjuster with a pair of thin tweezers. Now running at full throttle again. Result!
You're a star, I've been buying Titan's for years and in 2019 I bought a replacement strimmer during a sale, but didn't use it for over 12 months; when I eventually started it the performance was as stated in your video (starts, ticks over but dies on throttle). As it was out of warranty range I tried the usual (plug, fuel, filter...) then threw it in the back of the shed. Today I came upon your video on You Tube and called to request a service tool (they said it will be sent first class mail). I'll update my comment after the tool arrives, but thanks for the information (You'd think the suppliers would have done a video themselves!). Thanks again :-)
Brilliant video, used a pair of pointed tweezers to turn the screw after removing the cover and now it's running fine again. Needed to replace the line to the filter due to it perishing but glad to have found your video, thanks very much for putting it up.
Found this video when looking to solve the issue with my machine. Ordered the tool from Titan yesterday lunch time and it arrived today. Fingers crossed it solves the problem when I try tomorrow! Thanks for the video!
Great video worked a treat! I inserted the end of a nail into the hole on the adjuster and tapped it round with a hammer. Didn't want to wait for the tool to arrive!
So pleased I found this and very grateful. I was close to purchasing a new carburettor for my 2017 machine. I had completed all the steps apart from adjusting the needle valve. Made a tool to fit the needle with a pice of aluminium tube, adjusted by half a turn in my case and now the machine runs perfectly. Thank you very much👍
Absolutely amazing. Was just about to bin this after having it for only a year and buy something else and then came across your video. Ordered the tool but didn't have the patience to wait for it so managed to turn the screw another way. All sorted. Thanks.
Fantastic video, clear and concise. Exactly the issue I have, however my adjustment shaft is not recessed so I can get to it after taking off the air filter. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. The world is a little sweeter for your efforts. Dave
Thanks so much. Top man for this video. I rang Titan support who said the fault was typical and was something to do with ethanol in fuel on the increase. ****TIP******* You don't need to get the adjusting tool. Try the open end of a suitably sized plastic rawl plug it works a treat. It has to be one of the basic plugs with a simple tubed end for the screw insertion. 90 degrees of turn anti clockwise and it works like new!
I can only echo other comments, thank you for pointing the mixture screw out! Mine took half a turn to get running properly. Still a bit crap to be honest, but enough to get the garden done! 👍👍
Hi Ian, I am glad the video helped you out, you might find once the machine has been used a bit and warmed up that you can tweak the screw slightly to get the machine running fine.
@@theroomofrock6456 I thought the screw was a stud of some sort, didn't think there was one so was scratching my head! Knew it was a fuel issue, just couldn't work it out!
Great video and advice. Had the same issue with mine phone support line yesterday service tool arrived this morning. All up and running 100%by lunch time.
I had this issue so I replaced the carburettor £8 on eBay, fix it but it would not start with out petrol dripped into the carburettor, it turn out it was bad petrol setting too long because of the original issue. Thanks you really helped, runs great and I have spare carb.
I did the same thing bought a second one when the first started playing up. I am glad the video helped. It sorted mine out and I thought I should share what I found out.
Hi followed your instructions, adjusting the screw made it worse. Looking closer the inlet manifold was loose. You said the machine had a problem i found the manifold screws are a fraction to long allowing air to be sucked in between manifold to the barrel. So adjusting the carb was compensating for the air leak. Simple fix extra washer on mounting bolts. Hope this will help others .
Thanks for the video. I was just about to buy a new carb. I took the front plastic cover off and cut a slot in the screw with my Dremel. Just a tad over ¼ of a turn now it revs it's nuts off! Cheers
Just found this . I stripped the carb down all fine. New petrol, spark plug, cleaned air filter and still the same. I will try this in the morning and let u know. Thanks again
Thank you Ted and I, this video pinpointed exactly what I needed to fix the multi tool, phoned the helpline and the tool arrived the next day, a quarter turn and bingo, it works!!
Mate This has been a great help after changing the all the fuel lines and carberator with no joy I tried this and it’s running beautifully .. thanks mate
This video was amazing I've just been given one of these by a neighbour with this issue and I was sure it was adjustment low and behold a third of a turn out and it cured it. Thanks
I am having exactly the same problems with mine , trying to use it for the first time in 12 months .Did all the checks but still not working . Of course can never find the instruction book when needed , and its been so long since I messed about with 2 stroke motors i just kept trying and eventually the thing did start to run consistantly , so I assume it was dried oil in the carb that eventually washed clean . Defiantly will check the adjust screw . Great tip about running dry after use and for storage .
This is helpful. I've had one of these tools for years. A new carburettor is only £10 on eBay. Fitting is child's play. The adjuster screw on these is just a standard screw. I just buy a new one every year.
Had similar problem with my McAlister, cleanout carb, new pipes and fuel filter still bogged down, turn the injector less than quarter of a turn and hey presto. Cutting through bush better than it has done for a while. So it also tells me that the carb is slowly deteriorating with time as the fuel will corrode it over time inevitably. In which case get an after market carb from eBay, yes they are from China but yes they do work as I have repaired other strimmers with them, on some models it's cheaper just to get a new carb than repair with a kit. Good video 👍
They must come out of the factory not set up right, this one here has been like this since new mines a 2021 btw ! Mine had a round hole offset in the adjustment screw. So save buying an adjustment tool, I put a small Allen key in the hole and used a flat head screwdriver pushing against the Allen key to adjust quarter of a turn anticlockwise. Thanks for the vid
Great video. I have Titan hedge trimmers which developed the same fault. The carburetor adjustment is a little different from that on the strimmer. It has two adjusters hidden under the start/run label and need what is called an Acircle tool to adjust them. I made this tool myself as it can only be bought as part of a 12-tool kit costing about £30. I started the trimmers and once I turned the outer adjustor anticlockwise the stuttering engine began to run sweetly. I think the fault was that the engine had been running too rich. It was certainly using a lot of petrol and when it stalled, it could only be started when cool again, which points to flooding. The adjuster was very easy to turn and perhaps it had turned slightly during the two years of use since I bought it. I have made a note of the position of the adjuster I so can see if this is what is happening.
Thanks for that! I have a similar piece of kit, manufactured by Scheppach and branded Aldi Gardenline (yeah, I'm a cheapskate!), which had developed a similar problem. Like you, I didn't have time to wait for a service tool to arrive, so I carried out the adjustment with a pair of fine computer tweezers. In my case, only 1/8th of a turn did the job. Sorted! Great video!
What a great video for us non-mechanics. Mine has the same problem. Hope I can fix it but Screwfix are very good about returns if I can't. Ethanol-added petrol has a lot to answer for, according to my brother who's an engineer.
Thank u, mine was the same, I used a dimmable and cut a groove in the screw for a flat screwdriver, quarter of a turn and it runs like a watch, thanks again
Great video thank you, I have one only these and I hang mine up in the garage. I’ve noticed it’s leaking oil from the air filter and fuel comes from the same place. Could I be priming it too much? Thanks again
Could it be the way you are hanging it up, letting fuel leak out through the carb via gravity? If the machine runs fine, I would suggest draining the fuel back into a can so the tank is empty before you hang it up.
Great video mate. I had one like this and made a tool like the pac man shape! Have changed the carb now for one with hi lo screws. The original lasted 5 years. Great tool.
Thank you for this. Unfortunately adjusting the screw did not fix mine so looks like I'll be needing a new carb which I've ordered from Amazon for £10.
@@theroomofrock6456 Thank you. I did have a new carb arrive today but I got bored waiting so decided to strip and clean the carb then reassemble. So far it seems a lot better! I also cleaned the spark plug but will replace it soon to be safe.
Thanks for this video - got the tool and it's up and running again. Had asked at a local lawnmower fixer and their feedback was that it would be at least £160.00 and they couldn't guarantee anything. 👍👍
hi, your videos are very helpful!. My issue is that when i run the engine without any attachment on it , it runs perfect, full power. BUT when i insert the weed trimmer attachment it starts to have those issues ,...
Your video has just really made my day. My Titan was a non starter after recently getting it out of the shed to begin some heavy garden cutting. I’ve gone through each part as you suggested including tasting some petrol from the filter! and it fired up first time👍 It runs better now than it ever has over the last 3 years. I managed to get to the little metal carb stud with a pair of circlip pliers after removing the plastic housing and turned the stud a quarter of a turn. Thank you very much for the easy to follow instructions. Any chance you can improve my guitar playing now😀
Hi really informative video, thanks! Have this tool and the engine works fine with the strimmer attachment but if i change to the hedge trimmer it cuts out after about 10 seconds! wandering if you had any idea why? Thanks jay
My thought would be petrol starvation as the strimmer the tool is always the same way up but with a hedge trimmed you are constantly using it on it's side. I would make sure the tank pick up pipe is always in fuel and check the little filter and maybe get a rebuild kit for the carb.
Brilliant, thanks for that. Just fixed one I picked up for spare parts. Mine had the dot rather than the Pacman and I was able to use a small pair of circlip pliers to turn the screw.
Thanks for making this great video. I was having the same issue. Been trying to contact Titan but not getting a reply. I removed the rear plastic housing and made the adjustment with a small ring pliers and it worked a treat.
i bought the strimmer /brush cutter a few days ago and the reviews say that many titans bog out,,,so glad i have found this, what is the tool actually called,i have looked on e.bay,or do i ring the parts for titan and ask for a sevice tool...
I would phone Titan and get them to send the tool out to you, they sent me mine FOC. just be careful as there are 2 types, dependant on the screw head yours has on the carb.
Hi. Tried everything you covered, including changing the carb, fuel lines and filter, fuel bulb, even purchased 2-stroke engine fuel. Purged the bulb and have been trying to start, it catches but does not start. Have done the quarter turn on the screw on the new carb (which is a cross-head) anti-clockwise - did not work right up to the screw was almost out! Screwed it clockwise too back to point it could not, each time quarter turns, and repeating the start up process. Frustrating. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
What does the spark plug look like, is it wet (too much fuel or bone dry too little or no fuel getting through. What about taking the air filter off, trying to spray some carb cleaner into the inlet and see it that helps it start. If it does it is definitely a fuel issue and fuel isn't getting through.
Be careful if your machine is brand new as it should be covered by warranty and you don't want to do any thing that would invalidate that. But good luck whatever you decide to do.
@@theroomofrock6456 thanks mate. its 5 yrs old according to the serial number. ive just rang them and they don't do the tool for the older one. although mine looks like yours. so i need to buy a tool off ebay
Mine is showing exactly the same symptoms, will be on the phone for the carb adjustment tool first thing in the morning....many thanks for your advice 👍
Update, phoned the helpline number and received the adjustment tool in the post the following day. Came with detailed instructions on what to do. I followed these and machine now revs freely so pretty faultless customer support. They even asked if I minded if they phoned back in a couple of weeks to see how things went 👍
Thanks from me too, same issue after a year.... Made a sleeve to go round the screw head (bike cable ferrule) and filed the cheap screwdriver it came with to form a notch, slotted in the ferrule and hole then turn. Mine was the hole type not the V notch one. No chance turning it with anything soft though! Not perfect yet but I'm going to swap the fuel before tweaking it.... 👍
I am glad the video helped you. They are good tool let down by this common fault. I am impressed with your ingenuity, just what we like in The Room of Rock
Hi. Can I ask what is your fuel consumption per hour on this trimmer? I think mine uses way too much, almost the entire tank per hour of mowing grass 10-15 cm high with a line at medium-high speed...
I must admit I am always surprised how quickly the fuel goes down, but then the engine is revving quite high when you are working the tool. You could check the plug colour and see if it looks too sooty. I think if it was running too rich it wouldn't run properly. Also make sure there are no leaks and the air filter is clean.
I've got a 2 year old titan and its always been fine until i started it 3 weeks ago, its now smoking. There is no smoke when cold but after about 15 seconds from starting it starts smoking. I've checked the oil/fuel mix and its correct. Any Ideas.
Sometimes oil can build up in the exhaust and then start to smoke off as the exhaust gets hotter. I would make sure you are using a good quality 2 stroke oil (semi synthetic or fully synthetic) as the more modern ones tend to be low smoke. If the tool runs fine I would just tolerate it.
Guess what - same machine with exactly the same symptoms, mines a 2020 build a stalls continuously. I will ring for the tool in the morning! Thanks for a great video
I am only guessing but I would wind the screw all the way in and start about 1 full turn out and keep trying from there. Opening it a 1/4 of a turn at a time until it run wells. Obviously make sure the plug is clean in case you have already flooded it.
Great video, do you how the trimmer should be greased. The manual says grease every 25 hours of use or before winter storage but does not say how to do it, thanks.
The actual motor part doesn't need greasing, it is the accessories that do and they have grease nipples on them (if you look at the head of the chain saw you will see them. This means you will need to get a grease gun if you don't have one and some general or multi purpose grease. What I do when I have finished with the the hedge trimmer is spray the blades with WD40 before putting it away after every use to stop the blades rusting. If you are a home user I would think greasing the grease nipples every year would be fine. I hope this helps
Mine is speaking but just won’t start, just changed a perished fuel line. Spark plug seems to spark. New fuel. Any ideas what more I should look at please? It’s a Parker brand tool
I would try and get a carburettor rebuild kit and give that a good clean / fresh set of gaskets as service the kits are only a few pounds on Ebay or Amazon, it is usually a fuel related issue rather than spark.. Good luck
Hi folks, I bought my titan multitool 2 months ago in Dublin and all ok on that occasion. Took it out yesterday and wouldn't get to start. Cleaned plug etc no luck, saw video and rang UK helpline many times couldn't get through. Rang Screwfix in UK about getting tool, gave me a number to ring, guy very unhelpful maintained there was no tool for adjusting the carb. Rang Screwfix again girl looked at video but could offer no help regarding tool suggested I return multitool to my local Screwfix. I will try and adjust carb myself, mine has a dot on the screw.
I assume the smoke is coming from the exhaust? If so I would think the petrol oil mix is incorrect and not at 40:1. They do smoke a bit when working hard, sometime it clears up as the engine and exhaust gets hotter and burns off any oil built up in the system.
I have the exact machine with the exact problem. I’ll be calling the service number tomorrow. Just a quick question, when pressing the primer, bubbles never stop running through the fuel lines. Is this normal?
In the video I did show what I made up using a piece of old brake pipe to fit over the adjuster screw and grip it. See if you have any small plastic pipe or maybe even a drinking straw
What oil do you recommend for this? the manual states a specific type I cannot find. I ended up buying some halfords garden 2 Stroke oil which is green and seemed OK when I used it, just want to make sure its ok to use ..
It will be fine you want one suitable for premix, which means you mix it in with the petrol. I tend to by branded semi synthetic oils for my 2 strokes.
I hope this helps assists other users of these Multi Tools, let me know if it cures yours.

I hope that sorts it out for you.
I am glad it saved you some money.
Thank you. I followed your advice and it worked perfectly!
Thanks very much! I'm not at all mechanically minded so your detailed - without being too techy - information has helped me a lot! Say "Hi" to Ted 😅
Ted says hello and good luck with your tool
hi, your videos are very helpful!. My issue is that when i run the engine without any attachment on it , it runs perfect, full power. BUT when i insert the weed trimmer attachment it starts to have those issues ,...
Need to adjust that screw he shows at 19:00.
Mine was exactly the same as you say.
Any chance you can improve my guitar playing now😀
Great video - jes your are thorough - learned alot there - Titan should really supply a service tool with the machine
Yes I agree, or even better recall them and sort them out for people.
Thx for the vid! Exact same problem as mine, I'll now get the service tool!!
Brilliant, thanks for that. Just fixed one I picked up for spare parts. Mine had the dot rather than the Pacman and I was able to use a small pair of circlip pliers to turn the screw.
good work, I am glad the video helped you
Thanks for making this great video. I was having the same issue. Been trying to contact Titan but not getting a reply. I removed the rear plastic housing and made the adjustment with a small ring pliers and it worked a treat.
Brilliant I am glad that worked.
i bought the strimmer /brush cutter a few days ago and the reviews say that many titans bog out,,,so glad i have found this, what is the tool actually called,i have looked on e.bay,or do i ring the parts for titan and ask for a sevice tool...
I would phone Titan and get them to send the tool out to you, they sent me mine FOC. just be careful as there are 2 types, dependant on the screw head yours has on the carb.
@@theroomofrock6456 thank you so much..
Brilliant thanks so much had problems with my one will now order one of these tools thanks mate
Great video, very helpful
Screw fix want shafting for this , cheers pal 👍👍
Could you do a video on how to replace a broken starter rope/cord on the titan?
Thank you.
Thank so much for making the video. I have exactly the same problem with machine i brought today. Cant wait to try it
Be careful if your machine is brand new as it should be covered by warranty and you don't want to do any thing that would invalidate that. But good luck whatever you decide to do.
@@theroomofrock6456 thanks mate. its 5 yrs old according to the serial number. ive just rang them and they don't do the tool for the older one. although mine looks like yours.
so i need to buy a tool off ebay
@@mattsidebottom7603 You could try an improvise something from a piece of tube like I did initially. Good luck
I have the same problem, thanks for the advice,I’ll try it 👍
Bought a new Titan blower needed h screw adjusting. Very powerful now. Good machine
Brilliant mate thanks alot for the video, mine runs great now you're a star
Great video thank you! Fixed my titan a treat!
Great video i had the same problem and used a straw to adjust carburetor works fine now. Thanks
Superb thank you. Was about to bin mine when I found this :) Great job keep up the good work. Working a treat now
I am really pleased it helped you out.
I would like to thank you for the content
Great video 👍 thanks for taking the time to make
I've got a 2 year old titan and its always been fine until i started it 3 weeks ago, its now smoking.
Do you know how to in screw the top head please
The quarter of a turn technique worked for me , tool cost a couple of £ on ebay. Thanks
my titan revs up great but once of full power fails on idle and dies , is there a idle screw , butv i cant see one ,any ideas how to fix many thanks
i would say it is definitely fuel related and I would start by looking for air leaks on the carb.
Excellent video, thank you.
Well Sr I will certainly have a go at mine cos it have the exact same problem…👍👍👍
Thanks for the video
Guess what - same machine with exactly the same symptoms, mines a 2020 build a stalls continuously. I will ring for the tool in the morning! Thanks for a great video
Glad to assist, but you would have thought they would have resolved the issue by now as you tool is at least a year newer than mine!
Great video, well explained
This is very helpful. Thank you.
Great video, am going off now to try a few things now, will let you know how it all goes 🙂
I hope it works for your machine too
I'd like to know where you get titan parts.
i phoned the Titan helpline which I think I Googled the number and they told all parts were available
Anyone know how to get the reel off the strimmer head so I can replace the guy/wire?
I think from memory they push in then twist off. They often stiff due to debris in the real / real holder
Hi do you know how to reset the carburettor on these as I messed the mix screw up and now it won't start
Worked a treat thanks
Great thorough video. Thanks for taking the time to film and post this. Explains exactly what I need to do. 👍
Good luck
@@theroomofrock6456 thanks will try this, see how it goes
How do i stop ths drive shaft coming the tube
Coming out of the tube
Thank you so much for your help
Thanks any tips on why mine is smoking please
I assume the smoke is coming from the exhaust? If so I would think the petrol oil mix is incorrect and not at 40:1. They do smoke a bit when working hard, sometime it clears up as the engine and exhaust gets hotter and burns off any oil built up in the system.
I have the exact machine with the exact problem. I’ll be calling the service number tomorrow. Just a quick question, when pressing the primer, bubbles never stop running through the fuel lines. Is this normal?
Yes Warren, once the engine starts running the fuel delivery is more regular due to the engine speed and the bubbles will stop.
Hi my combi is having the same problem but im having a problem getting hold of that service tool .. any ideas
In the video I did show what I made up using a piece of old brake pipe to fit over the adjuster screw and grip it. See if you have any small plastic pipe or maybe even a drinking straw
Absolutely brilliant 👏 video, thank you
I had to cut the head were the cord Cames out can you fix’s a new one on please
I assume you me the pull starter cord?, if so Titan tell me all spares are available to buy from them.
@@theroomofrock6456 thank you sir... 👍🏻
thanks for info, have same issue with Lidl multi tool
