    Our understanding of fire has progressed.

    A fire Tetrahedron.
    I was taught this when I started my career as a firefighter about 20 years ago.
    White powder extinguishers (the most common type) work by interupting the chain carriers.

      It's an alpha....here's an analogy - writers of books create outlines of what they want to write, and then they make a rough draft...and then another, and another, and so on until it becomes polished and into the final end stage: a finished book. This is the same for Star Citizen and any game, you develop until you get to the point where you're done with all the content and tech, and then you polish it. The first part is called the alpha, it's literally them building the game as it goes. The polishing part is beta...we are not in beta, we are in alpha with Star Citizen.

    Medium to larger ships should have fire suppression systems that dont fully extinguish fires, but slow down the spread of fires drastically. Also, fire shouldn't really spread on metal surfaces. There should be some level of realism there.. Fires also shouldn't spread fast anyways regardless unless its on flammable items like a couch, storage items, cloth surfaces, etc.

    • @piedpiper1172
      @piedpiper1172 27 дней назад +1

      It’s unthinkable that every single ship in SC wouldn’t have a robust fire suppression system and, like today’s airplanes, be made almost exclusively from fire-resistant and nonflammable materials.
      Only those materials would be 900 years better than ours.

    • @anony88
      @anony88 27 дней назад +1

      @@piedpiper1172 I was just talking about at minimum they should have fire suppression systems in medium to large ships.. But you are correct in that every ship should have a fire suppression system. It's unrealistic that they're designing fire to freely spread throughout a ship. I can understand certain materials in the ship being able to catch on fire, or perhaps a work station in the engineering room for example. But fires wouldn't simply be able to spread throughout with no problem IRL lol.

    • @piedpiper1172
      @piedpiper1172 26 дней назад

      @@anony88 Yep! I was trying to reinforce your point-sorry if I came off as disagreeing.
      There are like, at least 4 reasons fire wouldn’t spread in these ships that I, a person who is not a firefighter, engineer, NTSB agent, or aviator recognized while watching their fire announcements:
      1. If the fire is “the stuff behind the panels in pipes and such,” why are none of those pipes coated in or protected by fire suppression foam, why are they all apparently made of a flammable materials, and why is an apparent fuel source for fire routed so close to so many other flammable materials?
      2. How does a fire in an artificial atmosphere receive enough oxygen to propagate? Fire goes through O2 at a staggering rate, and can absolutely smother itself in any air tight environment like a spaceship or submarine. Unless the life support runs at a pressure so high it feels like the vents punch you, it simply isn’t enough to sustain room fires.
      3. Even if the ship is made of kindling, where are the foam/sprinkler heads? Origin shipped a fully stocked bar but didn’t put in fire protection for when you spill a flaming shot?
      4. How is it spreading room to room when we can’t lock open interior ship doors. Did they finally fix that?? MSR owners won’t know what to do with a 99% buff to their flight time if they don’t have to run that door gauntlet anymore.

    jump gates are built around the jump point to stabilize it and allow for faster activation, the one on the other side will be built after you jump through it and see where it leads, if its worth it then you will build structures around them to make sure they don't disappear from usage.

    I don't know. To me, the game is getting to be a bit realistic. Say goodbye to flying the bigger ships solo like the Caterpillar because now you will have to have someone else join you if you get attacked and a fire breaks out. The game is starting to not be solo friendly anymore. I used to just hop on the Cat and do cargo runs at my leisure and just chill. Now I'll probably have to crew up my Cat or melt it and get a smaller ship.

    Server meshing has worked really well in all the tests earlier this year, including jumping to Pyro via static meshing. I therefore think once they get 3.24 live, it will be about refining what they have but Pyro itself is ready to go, so that being the case they’ll want to it live ahead of CitizenCon so they can announce the launch of Nyx and Magnus early next year, and the formal targets for the 1.0 release. Otherwise CitizenCon will be all about Squadron 42.

The issue is what we need the technology to transfer from one system to the other without a loading screen. And even what comes out with pyro will be a stepping stone to a better system they already have planned.

    I really tried to stay positive, but I can't anymore. After years of following SQ42 updates, and still seeing them focus on "janitor tech" and making sure the sheets move in a realistic way when stepping out of bed, just shows me they're gonna drag it out to keep milking money from people until the end of days. Focusing on complete bullshit instead of core mechanics and tech can only be tolerated for so long.

    I just rebooted my Elite Dangerous and enjoying it, but started talking regarding Star Citizen to my buddies, and we installed that too, and yeah... ALOT has changed since last we played, to the positive side, but still ways to go. Would be nice if the game reaches a "features are done and we can focus on content" stage, but yeah... seems like they keep piling up new features instead... which is a shame.
