Citizen/Soldier featuring the National Guard and 3 Doors Down.
Multi-platinum rock band, 3 Doors Down, salutes the National Guard for their heroic service in the edgy new song, "Citizen/Soldier." The band's powerful performance accompanies compelling images that educate audiences about the Guard's dual mission and affirms the Guard's critical role in our nation.
    Official Lyrics:
Beyond the boundary of your city's light
Stand the heroes waiting for your cries.
So many times you did not bring this on yourself
When that moment finally comes, I'll be there to help.
    (CHORUS)
And on that day when you need your brothers
And sisters to care, I'll be right here.
    Citizen soldiers, holding the light
For the ones that we guide
    From the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we shelter
We'll always be ready, 'cause we will always be there.
For when the people are crying in the streets
When they're starving for a meal to eat
Or when they simply need a place to make their beds
Right here underneath my wing, you can rest your head.
    (CHORUS)
And on that day when you need your brothers
And sisters to care, I'll be right here.
    Citizen soldiers, holding the light
For the ones that we guide
    From the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we shelter
We'll always be ready, 'cause we will always be there.
Pray that you'll never need me, but rest assured, I will not let you down
I walk beside you, but you may not see me
The strongest among you may not were a crown.
    (CHORUS)
And on that day when you need your brothers
And sisters to care, I'll be right here.
    Citizen soldiers, holding the light
For the ones that we guide
    From the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we shelter
We'll always be ready, 'cause we will always be there.

I remember after 9/11 how we came together. We weren’t black or white or brown. We weren’t liberal or conservative. For just a moment we were all Just Americans.

I remember that time very well. Despite the god awful tragedy it did give me hopeful glimpse of the future.
A future where we are all simply Americans nothing more nothing less. Being united in pain, in grief, in anger, in hope, and in determination. Because Americans standing united together in freedom. Peace, liberty, and the pursuit of prosperity will always prevail. Also enemies of America listen closely and carefully. Attacking Americans and her citizens will be at your own peril, you’ve been warned!

As a brazilian army reservist, I done lots of assistance to people in vulnerability while I was in active duty. The 2:37 made me remember those times I was sent, with my fellow soldiers to deliver food and water to victims of flood.

Citizen soldiers started a nation with the shot heard around the world. They will protect it too. They took the same oath I did as a lawyer. To protect and defend the constitution of the United States of America. Not the government, the constitution that formed it. Military and militia forces have fought for the people of this country. Thank you Three Doors Down. This is awesome!! My judge who I worked for was in the National Guard. He retired as a colonel. Thank you National Guard too!!

I spent 27 years in the Air National Guard and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. During these years, I got to know my fellow GuardsmEn as a proactive member of the Enlisted Association National Guard of Arizona. During the onset of OIF & OEF, 54% of the fighting forces was National Guard. During Hurricane Katrina, the National Guard was there helping people and rebuilding lives. Since 1636, the National Guard, your citizen soldiers and airmen, have been there fighting our enemies and supporting our communities. NATIONAL GUARD MOTO: "Always Ready, Always There". ALWAYS!

No hateful comments on this video please. If you live in America, it's the men and women who serve in the military who give you the right to sit behind your computer screen and say whatever you want. If, for some reason, you are opposed to America's military, keep it to yourself. There are tons of people out there that have friends and family serving, the least you could do is keep your negative comments out of their lives. We all have a lot to thank our soldiers for.

I was afraid, but knew that if I did not do it now I would never. Any regrets? Most definitely 12 second after I got off the bus at Parris Island. I wanted to join the Army. Its good to see songs honoring service men and women who are defending their homes and fighting for what they beleive in. There's been too much talk of people disrespecting people who volunteered to give the ultimate sacrifice by people who hasn't even done anything for their country except to cry and complain and ask for more.

Thanks to all the Guardsmen out there. You guys have it harder than us active duty folks do, sometimes; you get less training and/or practice to do the same job than we do. And on top of that, you can get called up during a local emergency. All sorts of strings have to be pulled to get us out there in uniform.
