This, song makes more sense to me now than when I was younger the lyrics remind me of what hell men are being through by the system from cradle to grave because of feminists.
@@DK-rh5sf wtf ahahahhaa??

"The Unforgiven" is James Hetfield's most personal track of all Metallica songs. The song explores James' tumultuous childhood. His dad left the family when he was thirteen for no apparent reason -- only a mare note was left behind explaining his departure. James got really mad at his father for leaving them behind, given that he was the breadwinner of the family and that his mom wasn't as effective at being a single parent. She made a living painting stuff, but besides that, she wasn't able to properly take care of James and her daughter. Nevertheless they managed to push on... but not for long. His mom passed away when James was sixteen after a losing battle with cancer.
@@martinaspoljaricpracaic92 You,do know alot,of songs lyrics are opened to interpretation right? I am just going by the lyrics word for word at how society views young boys I know this is about James as a child growing up.
I've been a huge fan since I was really little, but I recently went through a horrific loss. I held the person as they were taken off life support. Four days prior to this, I saw Metallica in concert. They played this song as a part of their Black Album anniversary tour. James said to the crowd "Forgive yourselves" and I cried then, but I didn't know how much more I needed this later that week. I think about James a lot, and the things he has gone through. His reminder to forgive myself and try to grow in this world is not only appreciated, but very needed. I wish I could thank him personally, and the band, for helping me through this.
We all wish we could thank him ! His words kept us alive ! And still ! Metallica forever ! 🤘🤘🤘

You sang about mental illness long before it was talked about. As kids, nobody asked if we were OK or could we go ask for help. We had to deal with it or check out. Your music helped me through some sh***y a** times when I was a kid, your words made me feel I wasn't alone and your guitar riffs and drums just made me feel. I know, I was abandoned also
The Unforgiven songs are about James Hetfield and his struggles due to the environment he was raised in. A very strict Christian home that did not believe in medicine or anything because God would take care of it. Due to that he watched his mother die of cancer after his father had already left the family.
He's not talking about growing old either. The guy in this first Unforgiven isn't old nor grows old in the song. It's about the feeling of being young (James was a pretty young guy when he wrote this, early thirties tops) but feeling like your life is over. That the world has battered you so bad that you are, inside, an old man. That's why he says the lyrics "that old man here is me". He means from the years of mental abuse, both in his childhood and what he's done to himself, have turned him into a bitter old man.
James Hetfield is The Unforgiven.
They always carried me through my depression

When I can't sleep I often study Metallica. Interviews reveal the beautiful hearts of these gifted men. Still heavy and sometimes hard to watch and listen to with such intended gravity. It's 2023 and stills sounds damn good😭🔥
This song when I heard this at 16 was awe inspiring, now at the age of 46 the lyrics mean more to me now than they ever did with my journey and struggles to have my music heard and the fact I will never be as huge or recognised for flying the metal flag like many musicians who will also have been or will be in the same position.
It tells and reminds us of the ever so real story of struggle and sacrifice for who or what you want to be, but may not be in the end. It's an ironic song for many, but it also helps you deal with that it's ok, even if you dont succeed with your goals, it teaches you, no matter what, try to be who you feel you need to be, even if there is a cost... LIVE LIFE and LOVE.

Actually all 3 of the unforgivin's have stories of James's life, if u don't know its about his addiction, and just listen to.2 then 3 and read the story. When u get older u appreciate lyrics more, all tho I could jam to any sound Tallica has put out! Never will change my mind, try lol
Its about trying to reach you cant reach, and die trying with a concussness and knowledge of your weakness.
I'd like to tell that to Donald Marshall but it's way too late for him. If his story is true than this song is more depressing than I used to think.
Kranius, I heard this song for the the first time at 16 and am currently 46 also. Love it!
I’ve been listening to Metallica since the late 80’s. Was also lucky enough to see them in concert. Each and every song has a connectivity to its listeners.
There's never a time, when this song doesn't hit you hard.
The fallen angels...the best what falls on this earth...
This song still makes me feel so many emotions. A beautiful melody with touches of heavy parts to convey it in such a way that is beautiful and bittersweet.
Concordo com você em gênero, número e grau
A metal song can't be more melodic and sweeter than this... the ultimate metal song ever by the LEGENDS! Tallica Rulzzz!
yo, this was it, the song that sold me Metallica, you have no idea what this means to me, thank you.
This takes me back to 1994, my first boyfriend was OBSSESSED with Metallica.. I thank him with all my heart, for exposing me to such incredible music..
This now has become part of the soundtrack to my life for back in those times, and more.
❤
It's December 12th 2021, I'm rocking to Metallica this morning. The first time I'd been to a live Rock Concert, it was Metallica at the Deck ! Up in Duluth Mn, man it was cold up there but the Concert was AWESOME!! I've seen the m many times. But Nothing lol like the first time!! I'd love to see them one more before I can't!? Rock On
Was up in Superior last June, it's cold there in the summertime lol. Schedule your next concert in the summer. Rock on!!
I used to listened during my college days, it's been more than 30 years now , it brings me lots of memories.

Who but Metallica could write an epic piece like this, and make the words and music for anyone who loves any kind of music.
My dad's favourite song. God bless him and God bless Metallica.
Seeing my idols young and powerful in that era sure brings back a form of healing...absolutely crazy how fast time flies by...
