Back in 1960/61 we used to go to the dance at the Walsall Town Hall (my home town) some Saturday nights and Susan was the singer with the Ronnie Hancock band at the time.
In the 60s the London Palladium hosted Variety Shows on regular basis. One was headed by Tony Hancock and guest performers included Susan Maughan, Frank Ifield, Joan Savage etc and also included were Clowns and Acrobats. You just turn up at the door and pay as you go in; definitely no computer booking or rip-off prices like we have today. I saw this particular show twice as I was infatuated with the lovely Sue, as you can imagine. Those were the days, indeed !!
It looks as though it was filmed at the London Palladium..if it was then I was there..she was on same bill as Tony Hancock & Frank Ifield .My Mum & Dad took a box & I think I was about 7or 8
I think a lot of posters are confusing the real originator of this song: Marcie Blane who sang this just as it should be sung. Not with too much stylistic vacillations but, rather, real feeling for the love felt. Not anything this singer appears to know. Marcie Blane, remember that name...she did it right.
Loved this innocent lovely love song. I suppose now it would be shouted down as politically incorrect but this is how it was in the 60's. You just wanted your man and to be a wife and mum....for the majority of "girls". Not me though....never found my Bobby!
I dedicate this song to my sister Ida Ann,who sang this song beautifully, who is no longer with us.God bless her soul! xx
My wife became Bobbys girl 50 years ago, and we are still together. 26/1/1963 - 26/1/2013.

Fabulous rendition of a great song. Susan gives this 100% !
A rare gem !!
This tune still sounds amazing. And as well as having a great voice, as we can, see, Susan was incredibly beautiful. :)
Wow what a stunner Susan Maughan was and still IS
Whaou!!! Quelle jolie femme!!! Et bonne chanteuse!!!
yes takes me back to happier times in the 60s x
I must have been about four when this came out. A favourite of mine.
My late husband Bob had this played on a pub juke box by girls who famcied. him, but he married me in 1969. Makes me nostalgic x
This was the very first single I ever owned....and I still know all the words!!
Great song,great live performance,great upload,thanks.

50 years later and I still want to be Bobby's girl :)
Just heard from Bobby, and he said yes, if you still want him.

Song about my mum wanting to be bobbys girl and did (my dad) xx
lovely ladie...looks better in later years...sings well, too.
Marcie had the original hit in the states, like many songs of this era it was the UK cover version that was a hit in the UK.
They were both released the same year.
Nice one
Hey, I sure don't want to be Bobby's girl but I like this song.

Thanks for posting.
I'm related to her. She's my grandads cousin, pity I don't have the same voice as her though.
👍👍❤️
tell you what I wished at the Time my name was bobby, she could wipe me off my feet anytime but then again I was only ten when I heard her singing it
Okay, SHE sounds like she could be Bobby's Girl. She is really NOT a "kid anymore."
Can't find any with Marcie Blane singing it live on TV anywhere?
They don't sing 'em like that any longer ... shame.

I am Bobby's girl. Lucky me married him in 1971. x
My first blind date
+Vince trench Love this song....flippin hell was about 12, but loved this song
Is this from the 1963 Royal Variety Performance (the "Rattle your jewellery" performance)?
A one hit wonder, not helped by a follow up song called 'Hand A Handkerchief To Helen' which could be regarded as a put down of rival Helen Shapiro.
I want to B Elvis Girl

you'll have to keep looking Sue ...
Ha ha....am still looking 3 years on.
This was my favorite son when I was dating bobby 4 15 yrs, but now i have my lee, & bobby can drop
Brilliant vocals makes the singers of today sound like total crap.
Greg Mardell They are totally crap today. This is real music. Lol xx
@@hammycats6919 So right ~ Justin Bieber is proof !!
And she hates it too!
No this is NOT the original singer. The original singer is Marcie Blane.
True ~ the original was sung by Marcie Blane and was a major hit in the USA; the hit in the UK was by Susan Maughan and came a little later in 1962.
What a piece of krap song LOL
Nice hair, and not on the armpits!
Ruined the song; she's sure no Marcie Blain (who made it a hit in '62).
