Hi. Firstly, I'm in my 60s, from the east coast of England, and in the last 12 months i have lost 2 elderly relatives to dementia - the most recent funeral being on the 21st of July. Two days later, this video and song popped up on my RUclips feed - from a band I had never heard of before. No surprise then that i listened and watched with mixed emotions. So 7 days later, having looked for more Larkin Poe online all week - who are they ... where are they from... why didnt I know about them before... you know, all these questions and more. I've already found so much more of their music and live performances, booked tickets for their concert in London in October, and bought the only copy of their "Blood Harmony" cd that could be found in my area's largest music store. Whats not to love about Larkin Poe ?
Everything Larkin Poe does is just awesome. These girls exude talent. Thanks for reminding me.This is an incredibly sad subject, but is certaily a needed to hear song.
They just released a new version of this song with a symphony orchestra. Everything they do is gold. Rebecca and Megan are as nice in person as they come. ❤️
These ladies are amazing. And Megan is the Queen of the lap steel. Their 2018 album "Venom & Faith" was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album. It's one of those albums that has great songs by themselves, but they all sound even better if you listen to the album all the way through in order. I'd recommend your next Larkin Poe song be "Bleach Blond Bottle Blues", from that album. Or if you want to hear Megan really throw down on the lap steel, "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues".
Larkin Poe is Edgar Allan's great great great great granddaughters and -son on drums. Their grandpa was named Larkin, so they names the band after him. It's a regular guitar she plays like a slide guitar, btw. I played this song on repeat for 4 days straight,I like it so much. Every Bird That Flies by them is great, too
We love these two girls, Rebecca & Megan Lovell, they use our studio on a regular basis and a huge portion of their revenue is donated to the "MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION". The bands name comes from the girls great, great, great grandfather being a distant cousin of writer Edgar Allen Poe......
@@MikeandGinger Ginger, you guys might want to do a reaction to this, School of Rock AllStars perform "Stop in the Name of Love" by the Supremes. The lead singer Cecilia Reyes is only 17 years and she is absolutely phenomenal....
Larkin Poe named after their Grandfather also played with Master Guitarist Joe Bonamassa in 2019 KTBA Cruise(Keep The Blues Alive) for 2 songs I may have don't remember dropped the song title The 2 songs they reacted to are more rock/blues Well Well and Spoonful
this song literally brings me to tears this is such an extremely powerful yet so sensitive song - and this slide guitar at the beginnig... *speechless*
Hi Mike and Ginger! That was a GREAT reaction. I've really gotten into Larkin Poe the past year and I'm actually attending my 1st concert with them later this month in New York! Yes, that's a slide guitar / lap steel guitar the older sister plays. It originated in Hawaii, but was adopted by mostly blues and country music in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Lastly, I'd like to request that you please listen to 19-year old Courtney Hadwin, similarly. I'd suggest 3-songs. Her cover of "Hard To Handle", which she performed at her America's Got Talent audition 5-years ago, her cover of "Sign Of The Times" and her original she just released a few months ago, "That Girl Don't Live Here". THANK YOU!
Your feelings are perfectly normal, Ginger. I've lost my maternal grandmother, my mother, and both of her siblings to various forms of dementia so my chances are pretty strong. Like you said, you sit there with them as they fade away and hurt so badly for them but, at the same time, you're scared to death that it's coming for you too eventually.
This is such a well done, moving and sad song. Larkin Poe is amazing, I think they've got four albums out now and every one is very good. Larkin Poe are a deep well of songs. PS. react to more Dea Matrona too.
This song is haunting. Check out Preachin' Man Blues as a dive into their blues roots rock. Talented across multiple genres. And their acoustic or acapella versions of many songs on YT.
There are so many young artist now, the music future looks great. Young may want to check “First time kissing a boy” by Karolina Protsenko and Oscar Stembridge.
Do you pick the saddest songs on purpose? Larkin Poe’s “Self Made Man” is a great song. I would have suggested you do that one instead. And have a great lift! Or for Faouzia, “This Mountain” is an inspiring song, after trolling through a number of her ugly cry songs. (But for Hero).
Larkin Poe is fantastic! This one video comes no where near showcasing their enormous talent. I’m bothered by these two “ influencers“ they should at least do some homework before hijacking an artist material. Reaction videos are the lowest.
I really was looking forward to this reaction with you guys but I couldn’t even make it to 3 minutes in. There is some horrible horrible background noise you have going on. I have seen this video many times as I am a fan of Larkin Poe and I know that noise is not from there.

Very powerful song. I've heard this song a few times now and it just gets better when you pick up new sounds on each listening.

I always tear up on this. Haunting. At totally different vibe from their world class blues rock shredding.

If you knew this band you would remember. They are unforgettable.

That's not quite right. The band is named after their ancestor Larkin Poe who was Edgar Allen Poe's cousin.
Edger Allen Poe was their great great great grandfather.

hey guys, "lap steel" guitar is the popular name for Megan's instrument........
Very emotional song treatment for mental health has changed a lot terrible how people were treated. Myself have had to deal with demons for 12 years.

Yes. We apologize. It’s cicadas. Many many cicadas. We were in a rental location in the jungle and the bug noise was almost unbearable - G
Please try to not use Mike as a punching bag when your emotions take you to dark places.
I am unharmed, don't you worry about me. Ginger is a sweetheart! 🙂🙂 - M
