At the end of GOWR. Atreus is holding Odin in his arms and chanting his soul into a orb. This is similar to the mural that was at the end of GOW 2018, which had him holding someone in his arms while chanting. This proves that the mural predicted the end of the game directly

Just like almost all the predictions in this series, the bigger detail is told(someone dies in Atreus' arms) but the smaller details are left out(the person could be either Kratos or Odin).

the prophecy was an estimate of what would happen had kratos stayed the same or had the expected amount of character development as he had currently. the events of ragnarok threatened to undo the opening of his heart. but the journey he had up until and his accepting of death is how he overcame death. opening up his heart likely slightly unlocked some of the latent power of hope still inside him. the power of hope lay dormant inside him. trapped under the grief/rage/hate. The namesake of Atreus means hope to Kratos. Atreus of Sparta was a symbol of hope. by keeping Atreus' guidance inside while fighting thor, he became empowered by hope and beat Thor with ease. if he only sought thor's death, he would have lost. and kratos at the end was able to turn thor against odin. rather than thor teaming up with odin. hope turned the tide of the battle. if kratos fell that day, Ragnarok would be averted for a time. loki would temporarily be at odin's side until he left with 3 wolves. and the temporarily averted ragnarok would probably begin again with Atreus baring Krato's draupnir ring spear as the champion with a different ragnarok in the next battle. odin would die eventually. only a matter of time.

I've heard so many theories on why Kratos is like Baldur with not being killable, or staying dead, one is about his blades, they have to exist, and the other about his ashen skin, something about it always needing to be seen, and so rot or a blemish,or something hiding it, would activate the curse (in regards to death). Those are the main ones. And really the 1st 3 GoW's kind of made it a mainstay that he can conquer death.

You know, I think Kratos has learned the lesson of prophecy from his time as a Greek. "One often finds his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it." Greek prophecies, by their very nature, are often self-inflicted.
Kratos knows that his time will come, again, when it comes. He is in no way eager to change his fate. He accepts it. Because he accepts it and does nothing to change it, he manages to actually change it because he is not on the road taken to avoid it.

This is because everyone else around him trying to change fate, from Freya protective spell on Buldur, causing him to die a needless death by Kratos; to Odin imprisoned Tyr to avoid Ragnarok, causing Kratos to become the spear hero that win Ragnarok instead and Odin to die in Kratos’s place. It’s like Kratos is the perfect “substitute” that fate use to fulfill its words, but as the result, using Kratos also helped him avoid his death.

That too is a question of knowledge. If you know the person well enough, then you can include the reaction of the prophecy. They knew how Freya will react, and thus they gave her that prophecy. Knowing, that Kratos doesn't give a shit about dying could be included into the calculation. Knowing, that he won't care, and thus not telling him that part.
Unless, if the goal was to fake the prophecy for the sake of a favorable outcome. Lie in order to achieve your goals.

The problem with Kratos is that he wouldn’t STAY dead. He’s already killed Thanatos, Hades and the Sisters of Fate, traveled back in time and overwrote his own death, and has climbed out of the underworld(Norse or Greek) for multiple times. Maybe he’ll finally lay down once he saw to Atreus’ maturity, but until then, another death prophecy ain’t sht to him.

To think, if Faye Hadn't destroyed the center of the mural, Kratos and Atreus may have followed it completely blindly thinking it was the only direction to take under the guise that "The giants knew what was best" or if nothing else Atreus would have, and would work with Oden no matter what had he seen it before he was ready, hell as a child if he had seen that when he was as young as he was first seeing it....he may have drilled it into his head that he must let his father die for the greater good...or something along those lines. But since he saw it when he was older, he refused the giants prophecy and saw it as it was and as Faye saw it, and at the end Kratos. Over complicated and hot ass garbage that favored only Odin and in putting off Ragnarok. They may have made it in said way in fear that Kratos would destroy all 9 realms from his appearance so wished to try and guide him to his death via their stones thinking he may still die or fall to anger and die to Thor...piss poor that is considering their prophecy stone just is exactly and gives odin exactly what he wants in every way...and everyone loses causing ragnarok to destroy the 9 realms anyway.
