Imagine if Kratos somehow found an Olive seed or something, no doubt he'd plant that, grow a tree, and savor his first olive in years
For real
Now we gotta see that
He could probably find some in Tyr's vault
I'm pretty sure you can't just eat those off the tree
@@lclnbm you can, but they'd be bitter. And i was talking about seeds :P
Freya: "Depends. Do you have a giant corpse for me to reanimate?"
Kratos: "Wait here. Let me fetch my grandfather."
I feel like that giant would only reach up to Kronos kneecaps
@@bushidotestu1997 even better then😂
Well considering cronos corpse was left in a very hot place and that he died a very long time ago im pretty sure his corpse would be very decayed to use
@@bushidotestu1997 yeah. The titans were huge. I've yet to see a giant that's the size of the titans. The biggest giant we've seen was thamurs dead body and even that body looks smaller than cronos.
Kratos:i'd get Gaia too,but she kinda turned to dust
“The hells an olive” that caught me off guard I laugh So hard
It had such long pause only for mimir to say that, briliant :v
Huh meaning that Olive only exist in Pantheon but not other realms? Strange but idk lol
@@TakeshiMitsuhide I think it's just really hard to grow those that far north.
@@TakeshiMitsuhide It's a Mediterranean fruit.
@@TeeComedian Hmm that might explain it.
I like the subtle angry tone Kratos had when he talked about how Freyr got burned as a "guest" becuz in ancient Greece culture and myth harming a guest is a big taboo and is very looked down on
Lookin at you Sisiphus.
@@Kaijugan well Sisiphus even cheated Thanatos and Pluto himself, and killed his own wife in order to stay alive. The dude got what he deserved in the end
@@billy-the-butcher killed his wife? That's not in the original version...
Would have been similar in many other cultures, and particularly in Norse culture, where one of the most grievous insults was to call someone a bad host. There are tales in many different mythologies where people were punished and cursed for breaking the rules of sacred hospitality and others where people were rewarded for abiding by those rules.
@@Kaijugan what about Tantalus? He killed his own son and tried to feed him to the gods, which again is a big taboo. Cannibalism I mean.
I like how Kratos and Freya converse like they are a divorced couple who overcame their conflicts but now know each other's shortcomings all too well.
Well they had to for the benefit of the kids (Atreus)
Their marriage arc is flowing in reverse and they’ll be entering a wildly romantic honey moon phase at the end of the next game
Mimir feels like their son there lmao
I would say that they have a special connection considering that Kratos killed her son
@@FiggFig Is there expected to be a “next game?” I’m extremely relieved that they didn’t end up killing Freya, always liked her in spite of what she did to Baldur.
5:23 “So Freyr was a guest when Odin burned him?”
In Greek mythology, good hospitality towards guests was a divine duty of all hosts, and treating guests poorly was to invoke the wrath of the gods.
I love this games attention to detail❤
Technically, so was the Vikings. They offered good hospitality to guests since Odin had a habit of traveling Midgard in disguises. Which makes this incident really ironic.
It was similarly illegal to harm guests in Norse cultures too
'invoke the wrath of the gods', but what if it's the leader of the gods doing it?
@@tobiasrietveld3819 then said God is gonna get dunked on by faith itself.
@@tobiasrietveld3819 nah regular mortals have squared up to Zeus. They all died of course but the Greeks do not fuck around. If mortals pull up what do you think another god is gonna do
Glad they had Kratos note the "guest" part about Freyr. Been a while since I've seen him say something that actually does a throwback to ancient Greece
What was the reference?
He mentions his customs and past during his time in Sparta, and in the past game he was in disbelief thar old age was one of the reasons souls go to helheim, compared to Hades' deed-based system, and the spartan views on old veterans
@@j.madelozo8222 In Greek culture, observing hospitality is highly revered. If you promise to take someone into your home, promise to provide them with accommodations and safety, it is a terribly reprehensible and unforgivable sin to violate that hospitality.
@@SwordTune Also notable is that Kratos' father was given the epithet of "Xenios" for being the guarantor of hospitality, punishing bad hosts.
@@j.madelozo8222 the Greek hospitality concept of Xenia, basically as long as someone is your guest you must treat them well and with the utmost reverence. With a specific focus on not murdering them. To go against It was particularly dangerous as it was a specific observance of Zeus himself. You'd definitely want to avoid a crime against it lest you incur his full wrath. This along with blood crimes, the murder even if accidental of family. The only way you could be absolved of these crimes is to be absolved by a king or oracle and if not then before long you'd have the furies coming after you.
Mimir - ‘any pre-frimbulwinter foods you’re craving?’
Kratos - ‘Olives’
Mimir - ‘the hells an olive?’

Have to disagree but it is up there. Mine are "all-fucker" and "horns-first"
I do like ‘all-fucker’ but that is just openly funny whereas I see that olive one as u find it funny like 5 seconds after it’s said because it was so random and such a good reaction, although I do agree it’s a good ine

Freya's people is mythologically an agriculture heavy culture, and those cultures usually care deeply for their families, especially offsprings. Like east Asian cultures. Whereas the Aseirs are depicted as mythological viking warriors. They are familiar with losing relatives or offsprings in battle. Which explains why Thor only wanted retribution but Freya demanded vengeance.
Freya's vengeance is a wrath of a mother losing her only child, a wrath no one dares to face.
@@akbarrmd7714 like father loosing a child
@@whiteeye9584 Based on what Modi says happened after Magni’ death was reported to Thor, to boil down the situation as “mother vs father losing a child” is such bs. Freya tried everything to protect Baldur and was immediately impacted by his death, where as Thor laughed and attacked Modi, his own son who survived what killed Magni. This isn’t a “father vs mother” this is Freya vs Thor. Thor’s a dick.
Ever since the trailer i suspected that Freya's inability to fight/hold a weapon was a curse that was bound to Balder, as long as he could not be harmed she could not harm another
Odin being a petty spiteful magic user also had something to do with it.
That is a better explanation than Odin cursing her. A sacrifice for a sacrifice
@@jasonallen4999 Wasn’t it in actual mythology though? Or at least the game? I can’t really remember
@@Tecolote41 in the actual mythology freya don't really have the same role, and most likely odin remove partly of the curse so she can attack kratos since odin want him gone because he interfered with fate by killing baldur ,and odin loves to battle people by provoking conflict
It's quite the cruel curse for Odin to inflict, as long as Baldur lived Freya would have no chance in breaking her own curse since it's would cost his life.
I like how humble he is, like Freya thinks she can take him. And he's like ok
If kratos didnt stop loki in bear form and freya killed loki
Kratos: so you have chosen... Death
Honestly nobody except thor could kill kratos and even then i have a sneaking suspicion kratos will simply just get back up because he has died before plenty of times...

@@arno7163 Just ask thanatos for what happened when he killed kratos brother
@@arno7163 lol exactly. Atreus in his bear form literally tore apart a Valkyrie in the musphelheim mission yet kratos is easily capable of restraining Atreus bear form. Not to mention kratos literally told Freya in the mission to break her curse that he always held back against her because he never wanted to live with killing her. She knows damn well not to ask for the smoke.
I think she's being playful. Her tone is rather relaxed for her. No real hostility in it.
Kratos told this woman TO HER FACE that he knew there was an easy way to murk a bitch (that could turn people to stone) but he CHOSE to murk said bitch the hard way. This same woman really heard him say that all that and still thought she could kick his ass.

Last game Mimir had enough tales and nuggets of wisdom to fill over 40 minutes. Now barely over 8. Pity, I do like hearing his yarns.
How many years did it took for all of that to be recorded? Check out the dates, you won't get all of then less than a week after release...
If I'm not wrong, there are 40min of dialogues, just in 4 different states. 1 for before Fimblewinter Atreus & Kratos/Freya & Kratos, and another 1 after Ragnarok for both parties, giving about 40min
You know this is just boat conversations with Freya, and it's not even the full extent of their conversations when walking around.
To be fair…what wisdom is there left to share once all wisdom has been shared?
Once you’ve filled all corners of a map, is there much left to fill?
@@logeyperogi1805you could always go under the map or above
Good I wasn't the only one that busted their guts laughing from that "olives "bit there
When Freya said she wanted a rematch, I think it doesn't really mean a rematch, maybe fight then true friends after?
It did come off of more of like a friendly competition kind of thing. She did regain her warrior spirit so... I can only assume she more willing to get into sparring matches with skilled opponents.
@@Ghost200x You are definetly right, i mean Freya telling Kratos that she would beat him is obvious joke... Kratos knows it, Mimir knows it and even Freya knows it.
Honestly, her "vengeance" against Kratos always looked more like deathwish to me. She lost her son and was forcefully bound to the Midgard so that she could not leave.
IMHO, she didn't want to live anymore and even if she could fatally wound Kratos, she would not leave that fight alive(or she would and Atreus would eventually hunted and killed her, maybe even with Odin's help).
Kratos didn't want to fight and kill her, but she wanted him to. He is freakin' God of War, who literally wiped WHOLE PANTHEON of the beings like him and her. And after their mission in Vanaheim, where Kratos helped Freya break the Odin's curse, these thoughts were only reinforced.
I mean if she really wanted to inflict pain and suffering on Kratos, she would've killed Atreus when he came to her(that would be even better vengeance than killing Kratos himself) AND was wearing the mistletoe shard which was responsible for breaking Baldur's curse(technically Baldur's death was more Atreus's fault than Kratos's, if he didn't have that mistletoe arrow shard, Baldur would be still alive). But she didn't want to. She couldn't. She wanted the one, who was capable of killing her.
She wants to be more than friends. She was flirting with him.
@@Ghost200x No. It was flirting. She was hinting towards them 2 together romantically.
@@TheFirstCurse1 You got evidence of that? As in relating directly to what she said
Having Freya as a companion while she evolves from antagonist to ally, and later to friend once more, was a fantastic bit of storytelling and a really cool game play concept. You got to watch the transition as it happened bit by bit and it became a morale booster in an otherwise bleak story.
so glad they made Freya a companion he dialogue is just perfect.

Freya, not knowing Kratos holds back during their fights is so cute especially since he knows she's grieving. Like go ask zeus all the way down to thanatos how well he really fights.
Lol right? He's even said he had no intention of even fighting her. He wasn't serious when she "had him beat." At all.
Shit, ask Poseidon. I've never seen someone done so dirty
Man just remembered Helios 😂😂
Freya bragging how she would have won and killed him despite Kratos flat-out said in the fight and throughout the story he had no intention of killing or fighting her. She lucky Kratos is now wise and more reasonable compared to his young Angry self that would have killed anyone who got in his way innocent or not
Maaan i was like *"OBJECTION* BITCH", THIS MAN WIPED OUT THE ENTIRE GREEK PANTHEON ZEUS POSEIDON, CHRONOS ETC. BEAT THOR, BEAT ODIN. WHO IN THE FUCKS NAME DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
I think that's the reason why Kratos said she could've killed him. He is no way shape or form capable to kill Freya out of the sheer guilt. He would've let her, but as a Spartan, he would've wanted a worthy warrior to kill him(he's fucking suicidal as seen in the last entries of the series). He wouldn't mind Freya killing him.
@@Urd-Vidan he still would not die durning the fight though. he would win even while holding back. which is proven by him beating odin , thor in this game.
the greek gods were much higher diffuclty and the valhyries are nerfed versions of the sisters of fate. the last sister of fate on gow 2 on the hardest diffuclty is way harder than both freya and sigrun
@@Chaoblahippo I meant he would let Freya kill him after a brief struggle, warrior's honor and death and whatnot. Also, no, Kratos is not holding back. He's not weaker now nor is he trying to give his opponents a chance. He's still the same person with the same strength and the same stats, he's just more controlled and doesn't lash out like a mad beast he was before. If you're concept of holding back is that he doesn't just rip everything in pieces and going in head first like some wild animal, then yeah, that he's holding back. They also really did want to kill Odin. Kratos is actually going all out to put him down, alongside Atreus and Freya. If you say that he wouldn't be going all out because he wants Freya to kill Odin, he can still go all out and let Freya do the killing blow. He's overpowered, but not to the degree you think him as.
@@Urd-Vidan but thor views it as holding back. when he let out his rage he punched the shit out of thor. control would work if kratos was any other war god but he is fueled on rage. on gow3 when you use spartan rage athena says "let the rage of sparta fuel your blade kratos"
the angrier he is the stronger he is.
also wdym not overwpowered. kratos beat cronos , zeus , posieden , hades , and reaaaly gaint creatures bigger than the ones on gow ragnorok. the idea that he is using the full strength of his spartan rage mode does not make sense because he beat much stronger enemies in the greek patheon
The dynamics are so good. Wondering how the dialogue would’ve went if it’s four of them traveling around with Atreus. Would’ve been the naive son, enabling stepmom, disciplinarian dad, and the comedian uncle.
The chemistry between Freya and Kratos is prominent. Let's just say it seems Freya wants Kratos to press "O" a few times
She’s willing to be partners and friends, but he still killed her son

“The hard way” dude just the way Christopher Judge delivered that line about taking Medusa’s head off was both hilarious AND like “oh sh*t”
I like how kratos is so disturbed at lack of hospitality like a true greek
I'm laughing at the first one because since Mimir is Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream he should damn well know what an olive was since the play was set in Athens.
I don't think Shakespeare's stories classify as myth, despite their quality
8:20 Freya…I don’t know whether to laugh or punch myself in the face for hearing you say all that Imao
8:20 Kratos being humble af with everyone knowing that Freya doesn't even rank the top 10 of Gods (and Titans) he killed.
Lol exactly. Freya even said in the vanaheim mission that kratos always never fought back when she attacked him during the winter and kratos told her that he held back against her because he didn't want to kill her.
And I don't think she's being fully serious here. It sounds playful.

I really would’ve loved if Kratos talked more about his more BS sounding feats and everyone else trying to decide if he was lying or not
Kratos:during my siege of olympus, I was confronted by hercules, a demi god who once held up the sky itself with his raw strength, he challenged me for the title of God of war, I overpowered him...
Mimir:I think I've heard of him, wasn't he a child of zeus' as well?

And there was this little punk that bragged himself to be unbeatable just because he can run faster than Zeus, right before I cut off his legs and took his Jordans.
The final dialogue... It's humility from Kratos.
I think you said it wrong. It's HUMILITY !!! from KRATOS !!!!
Love how Freya just talk and laugh at the two man who hurts her somehow, that's strenght for me
She is strong. Literally forced to married her worst enemy, locked away from her family, Friends, people, and kingdom, lost her child, and still can have fun.
I think you guys misunderstand me. I said this cause I really liked that change in her, due how much she hated kratos and mimir (two people who bring suffer in her life in their own ways), i apreciated that, she is indeed strong to put her hatred aside and see who is the real enemy and make fiends with them both. That's all, I don't want her to keep hating them at all.
2:35 mimir describing how kratos cleanly slayed his head was funny as hell 🤣 😂 😆 🤣
Damn I felt that first one. During my military service in Korea I missed olives pretty bad. I was happy to learn big stores carry them once I discharged.
The conversation about food in the beginning can also be had with Atreus to which he comments about Faye's berry bread.
They're all drinking buddies when this is over and they continue to have the best banter.
The fact Odin is lowkey a super-B chief is impossibly funny. If he wasn't a control freak he could habe been a good guy.

Kratos: *AREEEEEEESSSS!!!*
Dude I'd have loved a sparring boss with Freya that's a beefed up version of her with all the moves you unlocked for her.
Oh boy , the graphics was insane 🔥
But love Mimir was droll 😂
It’s poetic in a way. Kratos misses “Olives” from his homeland. Coincidentally the phrase “Extend the olive branch” is often meant to offer to a foe a truce or peace. Kratos spent much of the game wanting to avoid war at all cost.
People always say Freya wouldn't stand a chance against Kratos, but actually I think if anyone COULD, it'd be her. Kratos respects her highly (he called her "impressive", could "imagine no more formidable ally", told her she "uses her anger effectively" which was a huge deal with Atreus last game, etc), she parallels him in MANY WAYS, hell she's practically the Norse Kratos in this story. A victim of the gods' cruelty, loses her son to a god she only ever HELPED, is fighting with her brother due to unfortunate misunderstandings, was the leader of her people and is clearly a fine warrior and magic-user. In their actual fight, during the cutscenes she actually comes out better off. At the very end, it's HER sword to HIS throat. People think she doesn't stand a chance... I think she very much DOES. She's too Kratos-like to not be capable of it. That's her POINT. She's SUPPOSED to be eerily similar to Kratos in those ways, it's how they bond so well once they start talking in Vanaheim. It's what leads her to forgiving him for Baldur.
Freya: You know I could beat you right?
Kratos seeing the circle button above her head: Mmm. Perhaps.
They should've added in Kratos recounting all of his enemies in the boat. Would've been cool to hear him talk more about titans and all his feats of strength.
“ i would’ve beaten you “
“ but can you beat the almighty O button and the sword of Olympus”
Lmao i can imagin kratos calling his dick the sword of olympus 😂😂. It will always prevail 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"The hell is an olive?" bruh I love olives how has Mimir never seen an olive
Because remember Scandinavian mythology even Vikings didn't have or ate olives in their region so of course Mimir won't know despite him being the smartest man alive (maybe in his region but not all regions of mythologies around the world) which makes sense for him even Freya to be dumbfounded by his response on food that was only available in his region.
What I find interesting is to use really god scale meaning like city buster or mountain scale attacks, they are conditional. Like Freya revived and controlled a Giant that was only slightly smaller than Cronus. So the Norse gods can compete with the Greek ones just for them it’s harder?
I think part of it is that they require Rituals and Focus items to be able to do alot of their big spells.
Baldurs Curse/Blessing likely took time for Freya to make and place on him (via tattoos).
We dont really see it in the Baldur Fight but Freya took a good while to Animate the Giant, so its possble she had to use certain items to do it.
In Odins fight we see alot more of it from the way he uses his spear to cast spells or when he stabs/burns a book to buff himself or give him a protection.
Greek gods are more RAW power but is more restricted in comparisson, they can blast people with their magic but soem require instruments or weapons to be more effective, wich makes Hephautus alot more important imo.
imo, Freya just isn't a strength-based God. We know Baldur can deck Jormungandr, and he's just the God of Light. Not to mention Thor somehow took the Thamur's Chisel and stabbed Thamur through the head,.
Titans were the gods that ruled before the Olympians and they all had powers similar to the gods. Giants are mostly not all warriors and most of them don't have magic suitable for combat. The only two warrior giants capable of fighting against gods were Faye and that giant with multiple arms that Mimir mentioned. It's also stated in the games that the giants lost every war they had against the gods.
All of Mimir's food's of choice are all from Britain. I personally love Black pudding. It's basically all the parts of a pig that is not used including the blood and it is fucking excellent.
Yeah, he's even called "Puck" in-game lol
2:00 Jotunheim is full of Giant corpses. Shame they didn't utilize this. Imagine Odin's horror when he sees an army of undead giants he murdered storming his gates.
Freya interacting with the man who killed her son and the man who proposed her marriage to Odin (albeit Mimir the interests of both the Vanir and the Aesir at the time)
"The hard way" lol
Thank you for this! I hope you can eventually show all of Kratos and Freya’s interactions
8:31 I like how Kratos avoids the fight knowing he would easily slaughter her into pieces if he would go all out. Just shows how much selfcontrol he has over himself
"do you have a Giant corpse i can reanimate?" Kratos should've pulled chronos from his greece cheeks inventory considering the old gow he stored shit ton of weapon in that cheeks ,gotta have some more room for a grandpa
it completely killed the mood at least for me to replace Atreus with Freyja after you beat the game... i cried so much when Atreus and Kratos parted ways
“I would rather not”
“I bet you wouldn’t-“

You’d think they find a way to get Mirmir a body again after all the magic seen in Ragnarok
Love how kratos is more open about his past
“How could I spend quality time with you?”
Mimirizz.
He did teach the god of rizz atreus himself how to "woo"
It’s rather obvious that now that Freya doesn’t blame Kratos for anything, that she wants his Spartan spear lol I really get that vibe

People taking Freya’s words that she would’ve beat kratos way too seriously. She’s so clearly being tounge and cheek with him (perhaps even flirting) it is just banter
Kinda funny how on the Medusa thing that Freya didn’t just assume immediately that he cut medusas head off even tho he a literally notorious mass murderer across worlds mentioned it as a option.
Love how she wanted to.go another round and boasted that she wud have won. It was nice to see Freya much calmer again once she saw past her anger towards kratos
Freya: do you have a massive giants corpse from me to revive?
Kratos: can you do titans? Cuz I know where they’re corpses are.
Freya:wtf is a titan?
I wonder, with Odin ‘gone’ could it be possible that Kratos could now retrieve Mimir’s body from the three and reattached it back into Mimir using Freya’s magic. 🤔
Mimir, the smartest... head to live, knowledge rivals that of Athena, doesn't know what an olive is.
Of course she can beat him ,that is why she needed his help to break the curse and fight odin😂😂😂😂😂
"See, Freya, Kratos didn't WANT to fight you, nor does he still. But if he were to, I just know that even if the battle between you two would last days, he would somehow find a way to best you."
omg Mimir "The hell's an olive?" wow legend lol
When Freya told kratos if he wanted a rematch I was like Ann girl he only fights to protect/attack, so stay on his good side
Freya: If it wasn't for Atreus, I would have beaten you.
Kratos: I was holding back. I never wished to harm you.
Freya: Uh huh. Sure.
Kratos: Freya, I have literally massacred an entire pantheon of Gods before I came here.
Freya: And deductive reasoning tells me that I could do the same if I wanted to, seeing as I can beat you any day.
Kratos: . . . . very well. We will duel at the next stop.
Mimir: Oh dear . . . .
Freya:"Which did you choose?"
Kratos -Instant flashback-
Kratos:"The hard way."
"Hmmm, Battle tactics, I become enraged and inflict horrific violence."
"I wouldn't have beat you if your son wasn't thei-" **Red circle appears over her head** "Uh- nevermind-"
Freyr: I would've beaten you if Atreus wasn't there.
Kratos: Lemme hop back to Greece and get the Blade of Olympus, then we'll see who'd beat who
