What depth/type of area did you find the fish at? We are going to the same area later this month and would consider Halibut of any size as a success... 🙂
Hi, big Fish and great job, nobody was in hurry or panic😂. What time in the year have you been there? We will travel to steinfjord next month and hopefully get halibut to….
It's May the 15th, 2024 and as a non fisherman, can any experienced provide an estimate of that female's age? I'm glad they let her go because fish that large and old probably don't taste good. Also the fact that she has survived that long and can spawn more eggs..
What a Fish! Its a Honorar to get one of This size But quite a Short fight Mine fight me 1,5h And Its the best Tastengeräusch Fish over all Petri heil from south of Germany
Yes you guys are true sports men were other halibut fishermen in alaska who bring there louisville slugger, sport fishermen with commercial licenses ??? you keep smaller fish and leave the monsters to keep the species laying eggs good job ... all the best ......
Loved the fact that you released it to keep living and getting bigger!
Thanks man!
i mean they have to in norway, they cant eat halibuts like over around 1.25 meters since its illegal. Sth about toxic metals
Thank you for releasing it.
Of course! Thank you for watching!
What a beautiful fish, great job in catching and most importantly, releasing that giant. Hats off to you with all the respect in the world.
Thank you very much, Roderick!

Marra is a great guide!! Congrats!!
Excellent work gentlemen.
Thank you!
Do halibut eyes pop out when they are brought up from deep water?
No they don't. The halibut doesn't have any swim bladder, so it won't get affacted by the pressure.
Really like that they showed the whole fight
Thank you for your feedback!

Looks like maybe its back was broken or something deformed it near the tail?
Yes, we noticed that. Maybe it have been caught before and not treated correctly?
@@HeadbangerLures Or wounded when it was young?
Sometimes fish get that type of scoliosis due to nutrient defiency/starvation in youth.
I work with fish and have seen it happen a lot.
@@ManicMindTrick Thanks for the info, I thought someone might recognize it

Beautiful, big halibut. Surprised it came in so peacefully after such a short fight. Nice release so it can produce more. +++
Thank you very much. If you miss the first opportunity to secure it, it will get much harder to get it up to the boat the second time.

@9.30 it's difficult to understand what your saying but the ugly fish looks like a Brosme in norwegian or Cusk in english
Yes, that is correct! :)
Kan u guys say what rod and rell he had pls
Marre used a Hurricane Kveite 20-30 lbs rod and a Hurricane Aegir 400 reel.
its about 170kg according to the halibut table . congrats!

That's a very hard question. A guess would be somewhere between 20-30 years old.
