    I had halibut for the first time today.. I’m 59 yrs old and Finnish ancestry in the US .. I’ve had every other kind dang near.. but halibut is expensive here so I always passed on it.. but finally was intrigued enough to try it.. and it was excellent..

    Do halibut eyes pop out when they are brought up from deep water?

    • @HeadbangerLures
      @HeadbangerLures  Год назад +4

      No they don't. The halibut doesn't have any swim bladder, so it won't get affacted by the pressure.

      Sometimes fish get that type of scoliosis due to nutrient defiency/starvation in youth.
      I work with fish and have seen it happen a lot.

    Jag ramlade in här för att jag älskar norra Norge, men jädrar vilken snygg film ni har gjort! Underbart fiske! Jag satt kvar och såg hela filmen, och det händer inte ofta. Säg till om ni vill ha en drönarpilot med er någon gång.
    Snyggt att ni släppte de största hälleflundrorna. Vet ni hur de klarar sig efter att ha blivit utmattade på det sättet?

    • @HeadbangerLures
      @HeadbangerLures  7 месяцев назад +1

      Tack så mycket Niklas! Det värmer!
      Det är svårt att veta hur pass bra fiskarna klarar sig, men det sker återfångster regelbundet. Så länge man inte lyfter upp dessa stora fiskar i båten brukar de klara sig rätt bra.

    • @NiklasKrog
      @NiklasKrog 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@HeadbangerLures tack för svar!
      Jag insåg när jag skrivit frågan att hälleflundror i den storleken är top predators. Det är ingen som jagar dem. Det borde räcka.

    It's May the 15th, 2024 and as a non fisherman, can any experienced provide an estimate of that female's age? I'm glad they let her go because fish that large and old probably don't taste good. Also the fact that she has survived that long and can spawn more eggs..

    • @HeadbangerLures
      @HeadbangerLures  7 месяцев назад

      That's a very hard question. A guess would be somewhere between 20-30 years old.
