Thanks Kevin for the tour of Kempock Street in Gourock. I moved away from Gourock 42 years ago. I loved growing up there and miss it so much. I lived at 47 Albert Road, next to the Lido cafe, which has now been converted to flats. It's just a little bit further down where you stopped recording, just past the swimming pool. Yes, Gourock has changed quite a bit, a lot of landmarks now demolished. Kempock street was always a two way street, now they have a road that runs along where the beach used to be.The shop in your video, "Reds Boutique" used to be the "Ashton Cafe" which adjoined the Amusement Arcade". Great memories in that cafe when I was a teenager. I also used to frequent The Continental Cafe many times. Remember Thomas Aulds the bakery, used to buy strawberry tarts and trifles from this wee shop, nice to see they're still around. The pierhead area has changed quite a bit. Where you started the video, the pathway and stairs heading to the Kempock bar. There used to be quite a few shops there, now also demolished. A tearoom, a Linen/wool shop, a shop that sold dishes, plates, cutlery etc. I still have the old box and plate set that my mum bought there. I only use those plates at Christmas, New Year's, Easter and Thanksgiving for bacon and eggs breakfast with the family. There was also a large cafe just before the pier and railway station called The Ferry Cafe. Across the road was the famous Bay Hotel and down from that, The Gourock Post Office where I used to go and collect my mum's family allowance. Lots of great memories of my lovely wee town. Thank you very much for the video.

Its incredible how the demolition of the Bay Hotel many years ago, has still left the Pierheed a little bit empty, they also took away the Old Post Office, I have many fond memories of the Wee Toon I grew up in, The Lantern Disco was going strong when I departed. I lived in Sharpe Street and then Margaret Street Cardwell Bay end of the town.I left in 1970, so it has changed a bit but not a lot.

In 1973 I lived at the Gantock hotel for several months before moving to Kilmacolm. I drove through Gourock and Greenock each day to school at Port Glasgow high school.

I'm from Greenock but it's the Gourock end of Greenock, about 10 - 15 min walk from the station. You missed one of the unique things about Gourock Kevin and, that's it's outdoor heated swimming pool located at the very end of you video.

Ma signore! Heart torn out - quays, station, putting green. Nobdy on prom. Beach? Main street mishmash of strange shops. Ships? Yes, a quiet place to live. Restos? Fine bread? Vi assicuro che questo e un posto sumamente depresionante, esso detto.

We will be staying in Gourock at the end of April. Whilst every one thinks Americans always want to visit the castles and big tourist sights, we wanted to pick a place where normal people live. Is fishing allowed there, and, if so, what kind of license is needed and where does one get one?
