Imagine telling them that in a single 24 hour stretch, they would have released a T-Pain music video they produced AND had Matthew Lillard on the podcast.
Imagine telling 2017 James & Chelsea that they'd have to turn down Jamie Lee Curtis to officiate their wedding cause they already had Heather Langenkampt doing it.

From an older horror fan, who has also been a fan of these guys for awhile, I wish you nothing but success in your journey. You seem like a genuine person and I liked your comment, good luck out there.
I was absolutely not expecting to cry while watching this, but he’s being shockingly vulnerable in this interview. Those feelings of ‘what am I without my work’ and ‘when is it better to give up’ are things I’m feeling right now, and hearing him talking through those having come out the other side has me more hopeful than I’ve felt in months.
Man I'm so sorry you're going through that and those quite frankly super shitty feelings but I'm glad you have something like this here from people you love that you can find a way to relate to and I hope things get better for you 🙏🙏
I cannot thank Chelsea enough for bringing up SLC Punk. The fact that Matthew has such a great relationship with that movie is absolutely heartwarming to me. Such an important movie to me as a teen, and a movie that ages with you so well. Thank you both so much for making this interview happen.
Recently met and got Matthew's autograph for me and my wife's horror anniversary autograph book. Got married on Halloween, and we now collect autographs from our favorite horror icons. Such a wonderful person and he was so kind.
A man of my childhood from playing Stu in Scream to shaggy in scooby doo films. Two slightly different films but both great. Can't believe we get to see Matthew Lillard on the dead meat podcast. Let's go. It's going to be a scream.
Yes! So excited, I love Matthew Lillard. Matthew Lillard + Dead Meat = Awesome Wednesday morning. I loved SLC Punk as a teen and still love it in a different way at the age of 36.
As someone who has struggled w addiction and lost a best friend to an OD, bobs death in slc punks and the way Matthew plays it feels like it pulled the tears out of me. The “I wasn’t ready” was absolutely harsh
Grew up watching Matthew play my favorite Scooby-Doo character, and now he’s my favorite Ghostface too! So glad you finally got him on the podcast, this is freaking awesome!!!
I audibly screamed from excitement when I saw the notification pop up on my phone. My co workers looked at me like I was a psycho. Couldn’t be happier for James and Chelsea
You all touching my heart and Matthew literally making me cry with how deep his responses are. I relate so hard with that struggle of constantly being anxious about the longevity of my career as an artist. I hope I can do good with the experience he shared in applying it to my own life. ❤
Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lillard a few weeks back at ScareFest and he is a class act. Super kind, down to earth guy who is deserving of all the praise he gets. Psyched you guys got this interview!
as a young actor trying to break into the industry, hearing Matthew be so open with his struggles is so reassuring to me, like if MATTHEW LILLARD was just recently struggling in the industry but then ended up back in success, maybe there’s hope for me❤ Thank you Matthew, and thank you James and Chelsea!
Always loved Matthew Lillard as an actor, but- he seems like such a cool person! I love how this stopped being an interview early on and became a genuinely a great conversation. It's so cool when an artist feels as passionately about their work as their fans
Matthew is so down to earth and kind. This was a great interview! Thanks James and Chelsea for showing a side of the horror realm we don’t get to see often ❤
All the talk about fan recognition and staying for signings resonated with me because I think recognizing how important the fans are and that experience warms my heart.
One of the best weekends of my life was meeting Matthew lillard at a convention. Literally nicest guy in the world! 13 year old me was geeking out so hard! ❤️
This is my first Dead Meat interview and damn, I've got to go check out all the other ones I've missed. James and Chelsea do such a great job of having it be a casual conversation, while still hitting pertinent points and topics. Something I love about many of my favorite interviewers. It also helps that Matthew seems like SUCH a deeply cool person. I came away from this with a much greater appreciation for him and his craft. Stellar work, y'all!
Mathew Lillard is a national treasure. This is easily my favorite guest on this channel. He seems like such a nice and humble fellow. Wish him nothing but the best. Congratulations Chelsea and James, you deserve this and much more. Thanks for this amazing content.
Had the pleasure of meeting Matthew Lillard some years back at Spooky Empire in Orlando and he's been the gold standard of celebrity / convention encounters ever since. Quick story: There was a father in front of me with his son who was maybe nine or ten and clearly nervous about the noise, hullabaloo, and whatnot. ML clocks this the instant they walk up, breaks into the Shaggy voice and in the course of a few minutes probably made a core memory not just for the kid, but his dad as well. Afterward he signed my Scream script and we had a quick, congenial conversation about ideal beard length. Kudos and congratulations for Chelsea and James for putting this together, it's a most excellent cap for the month of October.
I'm very grateful to have been able to meet Matthew earlier this month at Scarefest, and man, it was a highlight. He couldn't have been nicer, and he even offered me a hug! Super great guy and super glad to see him on the podcast!
Matthew has always been such a sweetheart and interesting guy all around. I hope one day I'll get to meet him because he seems like one of the few exceptions to the "never meet your heroes" trope. Love this episode!
My all time favorite actor. Scooby was such a big player in my childhood and I thank him for bringing it to like action. He did such a great job carrying shaggys legacy and Casey Kasem would be so proud. I remember the first time I watched scream and has been my favorite franchise because of the set up in the first movie. It’s amazing how watching that movie for the 10000000th time you still catch something new. My favorite summer comfort film is Without a paddle. I often blare hold on loosely with my boys and we sing like Matt, Dax and Seth. Seriously Matt thank you so much for sharing today. You have been awesome to watch succeed on film.
not to be that annoying "oh i knew them BEFORE they were popular" person but i've watched you guys since i was nine with unregulated internet access (i wasnt allowed to watch horror movies, so it was my alternative) and still tune in every week as a teenager now. you guys make me so unbelievably happy and this episode really shows how this channel has grown
Look, there aren't a lot of celebrities I want to meet. Matthew Lillard is one of them! What an amazing interview!! Side note, I know so many people hate on Thirteen Ghosts but my god I loved that movie and Matthew Lillard was the highlight (and the pratical effects). It put him on that "I would love to meet this man" pedestal.
found myself getting emotional a few times listening to this episode, such a delight to see and hear Matthew with James and Chelsea! ♡ thank y’all for another great conversation ♡
This is elite content. They both seem so comfortable. Lillard is an international treasure. I’d so much rather watch this kind of interview than a late night talk show format.
Finally Matthew Lillard has been on the podcast. He is an angel. What an absolute legend. We love him. Wish he could do like a collab kill count one day.
I love Matthew Lillard so much, what a sweet down to earth guy, also love you guys James and Chelsea, what a great conversion that was so insightful and heartfelt

They are right, I drove out to meet James and Chelsea back in March at Horror Hound in Cincinnati. That was my one time to meet them. It was a big moment for me. I would have loved to met Matthew Lillard when he came to Lexington Kentucky earlier this month, but I didn’t have enough money. These are literally 3 of my favorite people. I could just listen to them forever. I really hope they bring Matthew Lillard back.
This is so awesome!! I also just have to say Molly is a star. Her staring into the camera, demanding pets, just being generally adorable. A plus, 5⭐️. I would die for her.
Meeting Matthew Lillard is my number 1 bucket list item. The amount of joy and growth I've experienced through this man over the years is mind numbing to me.
When I heard Matthew Lillard was cast in the FNAF movie, that was when I got excited about it. I could not imagine somebody better to play Afton. And he nailed it, of course. I'm so glad he's such a good, chill dude in real life, too.
i’ve been crying from the start of this video lmao as a person who found dead meat after their second ever upload, monster palooza 2017 btw ;), seeing them at the level they are now is unreal. so unproblematic, so thoughtful, so kind, so genuine… literally everything you could ask for in a creator, the dead meat crew brings. im so proud of you guys and everything you’ve accomplished! continue to be good people❤
I will never be able to express in words the amount of joy this man brought me throughout my life. as a kid i always loved him wether its Scooby Doo, Scream, Hackers, I always loved the movies he is in.
I got a chance to meet Stephen King about 10 years ago when he came to my small town in New Brunswick, Canada (the province just NE of Maine), when he did some location scouting/vacationing for one of his books, just after giving a speach at UNB (University of New Brunswick). He wanted me to open up an art gallery/library that I had the keys to (It's a historical building), so I hung out in the building with him for about 20 min. He was so friendly and charming.
Watching Dead Meat over the last 6 years and seeing this channel evolve brings me such happiness. I actually had tears in my eyes when i saw this pop up on my timeline, knowing how special Scream is to James and Chelsea. Congratulations you two, always the biggest inspiration.
I met Matthew Lillard at Texas Frightmare weekend and he was so awesome! As with most conventions it was only a couple minutes to talk, but he was very nice. He autographed a picture of him in 13 Ghosts for me.
The shout out to Wing Commander! That was the one that really got my attention and then I saw Serial Mom, Scream, and 13 Ghosts. And then I saw She’s All That! These were the movies that cemented Matthew Lillard as one of my favorites. Another honorable mention is Without a Paddle. 😂
I have nothing but insanely immense respect for Matthew for how hard he works and how wonderful he is to his fans! I remember him being at a horror con here in the UK a few years back and he absolutely was still there late (during the after party) signing autographs for people and the only other person I have seen like that is Shawnee Smith a couple of weeks ago doing the same both nights.... That few moments of meeting a celebrity they admire is a huge core memory for some and Matthews attitude to it is fantastic and I love him for that as well as the energy he brings to his roles!!!! Amazing episode guys 💜
@@CalfoxThefoxOfficial It was at For the love of horror in manchester back in 2021, they had Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich and David Arquette from scream, its a great convention if you havent been i would highly recommend it! We asked if they could try and invite James and Chelsea one year too!
this is fucking huge! Glad you guys finally got the absolute legend himself to be on the podcast. James and Chelsea have come so far in 7 years and its been a blast to watch
I didn’t realise how much I needed to see Matthew Lillard in James chair on the podcast set… what a great guy. James and Chelsea must of been freaking out haha
I got to meet him at a con a few years ago and he was so cool. I’m happy to hear that he cares and enjoys doing those things. He also gives great hugs I think that’s important to note.
Amazing episode. I was skeptical when James said they had a guest coming that we wouldn't want to miss (truthfully I thought it was the prior interview with the writer of Smile 2, which wasn't a bad interview but wasn't as legendary as I expected). This though? Absolutely amazing.
Thank you for this brilliant pod cast, I could've listed to you all talking for hours, what a lovely person, he looked so at home with you guys. Just brilliant as always. 😊
Great episode! Matthew seems like a really great guy (dogs are a great judge of character after all). Appreciated how candid he was about the business and everything. For James and Chelsea talking about wanting to meet Stephen King--- as a Maine boy who lives in a small town and went to Bangor often (where Mr. King lived in an iconic house), there came a time when I did run into him. Actually, for a stretch, every time I went into the Borders in Bangor, by some weird coincidence, he would be in there, though most of the time it was clear that he didn't really want interaction, wearing an orange winter hat, trying to looks smaller (hard at his height). But one day, I went into Borders, and I was there to buy a DVD of "Bubba Ho-Tep" which had recently been released, went up to the second floor where the music and DVDs were, and Stephen King was there, chilling out, talking to one of the employees about music. I didn't think I'd have the guts to speak to him, but I grabbed "Bubba Ho-Tep", had a book, "Hocus Pocus" by Vonnegut, and went over to the employee under the guise to see if I could pay for my items there. Stephen King actually spoke to me first, when he saw the DVD I had, and said, "Oh, Bubba Ho-Tep with groovy Bruce!" and I was just kind of nodding, and he asked if I had read the story it was based on by Joe Lansdale, and I don't know why, but something possessed me to say, "I haven't, but I heard he's great. I should read his work--- so hard to find good horror writers these days". And he gave me a "why I oughta" look and then laughed. When I went to go back downstairs, he said, "Good luck finding a decent horror writer!" It was cool. I'm sure when James and Chelsea meet him, it will be in a much cooler venue, one where he will actually remember having met them and know who they are!
41 mins in - When you guys talk about meeting people and fans, I meet an author that I loved. Their books are still amazing. But I went to get my book signed and I had never been so disappointed after meeting them. They asked my name, barely looked up, and signed it. Then went to the next person. I was so bummed but yeh that was the only person I ever met that I had somewhat idolized. But I hope if I meet people in the future it will be at least a little better.
Omg thank y’all for bringing up SLC Punk. I’m 35 and got into punk when I was around 13 or 14 and that movie was such a pivotal moment in my life. I didn’t get into horror until after and when I saw Scream for the first time I remember thinking “Oh, that’s the guy from SLC Punk!!!” Thank you Matthew for continuing to bless us. Will always be one of my favorite actors and I’ll watch any movie he is in.
Fun fact: I want you to Texas frightmare festival in 2024 and although I didn't get a chance to meet Matthew Lillard but I did bsee him there several times. His security guard was huge. On the last day there I unintentionally nearly walks towards his from behind when I quickly got out the way before him or his security guard noticed because I didn't want him to think I was coming towards him. It was fun though.
So excited for this!! So proud of how far u guys have come! How yall arent just fanboying out just shows ur growth or maybe ur just hiding it really well lol❤💞❤️

You guys are awesome and really deserve to get this far! I can't wait to see what else you guys can achieve!!!
HE WAS AT A HORROR CON HERE IN THE UK?!? WHEN?!
@@scott744 oh pre fnaf movie
this is fucking huge! Glad you guys finally got the absolute legend himself to be on the podcast. James and Chelsea have come so far in 7 years and its been a blast to watch
From staying in Stu Macher's house to having him in your house, you guys have truly made it.
As a person trying to get into acting and voice acting, this specific interview is such powerful advice from Matthew and Chelsea. Love you Dead Meat!
I didn’t realise how much I needed to see Matthew Lillard in James chair on the podcast set… what a great guy. James and Chelsea must of been freaking out haha
Matthew is the chillest sweetest guy on thw planet
I will forever love him so so much
Truly a perfect guest for the podcast. This was awesome.
I got to meet him at a con a few years ago and he was so cool. I’m happy to hear that he cares and enjoys doing those things. He also gives great hugs I think that’s important to note.
52:11 Knowing that Chelsea and James also watched WWII in real time is absolutely surreal to me
As an Erie, Pennsylvanian, I love that we're talking about pop and how valuable land around the great lakes will be 😂
Amazing episode.
When I went to go back downstairs, he said, "Good luck finding a decent horror writer!"
It was cool.
I'm sure when James and Chelsea meet him, it will be in a much cooler venue, one where he will actually remember having met them and know who they are!
It would be insane if STU would be the final ghost face in the franchise
SLC PUNK and Without a Paddle are why I love Lillard! He's always awesome but those are MY JAMS and of course Scream.
Love that man❤ grew up on shaggy ,first horror villain stu and William Afton for life

When you guys talk about meeting people and fans, I meet an author that I loved.
“Unfortunately I’m on Twitter.” Chelsea’s so real for that one!😂
You have no idea what a treat this is! I love Matthew
Unrelated but he killed it in Love's Labour's Lost (2000)
So excited for this!! So proud of how far u guys have come! How yall arent just fanboying out just shows ur growth or maybe ur just hiding it really well lol❤💞❤️
Rewatched Scream yesterday with a big crowd. Pretty much all of Matthew’s lines made everyone laugh. Awesome episode guys
