I'm old, 75, and have been into Bond even before Dr No came out. I admit to being somewhat frustrated by Eon's inactivity but on the other hand I want them to take the time to get it right. My main fear is I won't be around for more than one of two more films.

Thanks David for the engagement. I think for the majority of us..NTTD left a sour taste with some of us. Most of us didn’t like the way Craig went out and let’s be honest the script wasn’t fantastic. So for me they need to right the wrong and get making a hard hitting Bond, spy film, back to the basics of Fleming’s story and core core values! We need a carte Blanche like film to raise us all from the dead lol

When it comes to Bond 26 I'd rather they take their time and get it right. This is arguably the biggest changeover in the history of the franchise and while the wait from LTK to GoldenEye was long too it was absolutely worth it and I'm confident the team at EON can deliver yet again.

Well said. No need to panic or be negative. Just let it develop and unfold over time. The Bond universe is so rich with content (books, films, video games etc and the great community) that you can stay engaged and positive in a variety of ways.
As far as the series is concerned, I'm little dubious of it, but will reserve judgement until I know more.. It could be a great addition. I just hope they don't overexpose and dilute Bond, like has been the case with Star Wars, and the over-abundance of series and movies.

I'm old enough to have experienced quite a few hiatuses and large gaps between Bond movies, so I am not really that fazed by it. I also appreciate that they're taking their time for creative reasons, rather than just having some ultra-capitalist approach of "If we're not making movies with this IP at all times, we're losing money! Let's just keep churning them out, regardless of quality!" like some other franchises.

I really think they are delaying because they aren't sure what they want to do. They don't know if they want a modern Bond or a classic Bond or a Craig or Brosnan clone. NTTD had such a polarizing debut that I think it shocked them in to confusion. I think they want to please two masters; Bond fans and modern audiences. I don't really think it's possible to please both entirely.

The continuation of James Bond is in the last two books that Ian Fleming wrote. People are asking for Nolan as a director and Henry Cavill as an actor. And there are still 4 titles left to be used. It's all there in their hands. The world still needs James Bons. Coronavirus, war in Europe and Woke culture are not taboos, they are philosophical topics.

Cubby Broccoli was an artist, too. After he would have fired the lunatic who suggested Bond should die in a Bond movie, he'd have an new 007 posing along side an Aston Martin for "Bond 26:
"Coming November 2024" That's how simple a reinvention used to work when Bond was entertainment.

Great positive video, David - as usual!
Your background as a salesman, marketing executive and supreme motivator shines through and is as effective and as powerful as it always is.
(As a salesman myself for over 30 years - i appreciate and respect your undeniably superb sales skills!)
I actually think the most POSITIVE thing that could happen to the character, the series and to us fans right now……
would be for EON to sell the rights to James Bond.
Yea, it’s a tough thing to say,
but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that at this point they are simply tired, burnt out and just need a break.
Heck they have been basically TELLING us this over and over!
    And that’s actually ok.
Barbara has had 007 front and center in her life basically from the time she was born,
so it’s absolutely understandable that she’s just tired and bored at this point.
Which she obviously is right now.
    So why not just sell?
There are many producers working today who, I’m sure , would absolutely LOVE to work on the James Bond series.
And I still think that the franchise is as valuable and as exciting as any in Hollywood
    - so perhaps a fresh take on it would actually be a positive change!
And it would give Barbara a chance to move on and follow her true passions in the business.
In any event, unless that happens, it’s clear that there will be no news on Bond 26 for the foreseeable future.
Maybe Joe was right about all of this when he said that that ending of No Time To Die was meant to be a lot more final than any of us really wanted it to be!
So I guess for now we will just have to be happy with enjoying the previous 25 movies they have given us.
    And well….
    maybe that’s not too bad!
( that positive enough for you?😎😎😁😁?)

Well said and very insightful. I confess I miss the hype, promotions, and what have you surrounding the anticipation of an upcoming Bond movie. I miss the excitement I felt when I saw the Goldeneye teaser summer 1995. With as long as Bond has been around, it’s a challenge to make a Bond movie because you want to attract new fans but not alienate the older ones. I have been watching the Bond movies with my sons. I have the extras on my Bond dvds I can watch as well as different Bond books and stuff on the internet such as the James Bond dossier and other pages and your videos and podcasts. I confess that I also miss the tv specials like the one for Goldeneye with Elizabeth Hurley that aired on FOX in 1995 before the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror. I am not going to let this news of EON not having anything lined up consume me negatively. I even wore an airbrushed James Bond t shirt I had custom made in the late 90s to work for Halloween. As always, keep up the good work. Speaking of t shirts, I want a Bond Experience t shirt so I can add it to my James Bond wardrobe and wear it.

When you're motivated about something, or passionate about something, you don't take eight years to get round to it. We can make excuses about taxes, locations, finding the next Bond, etc etc but if she were truly passionate about it, she'd do it sooner. Michael Wilson is past eighty. There's just no evidence that this is a priority for Broccoli anymore.
That doesn't mean the next Bond won't be good and it doesn't mean it can't be resurrected. But as fans we need to accept that the Bond series we all grew up with is long gone. We used to get a pretty steady, consistent flow of films, books, and video games. I'm pretty numb to it. At this point we're realistically looking at a 2026-27 release for the next film. That's fifteen years since the last "good" film in the series and twenty years since the last universally loved entry. That's an ETERNITY in today's market.

I think in the world of movie production not much time has passed. After all, it's not just when did they stop filming the last movie. It's when did the public last consume the movie in all its formats. I think the producers want to evaluate the audience's mood about the franchise, what they liked and didn't, where audience tastes are going, etc.. The franchise has changed over time, in bigger and smaller ways, and as a result it's almost never come across as quaint or past its prime. That doesn't happen by accident or on a producer's whim. I think it comes from understanding current audiences. I think that's what worked with the Craig era. The producers saw that audiences were really drawn to movies and TV with a serious tone, a continuing storyline, a diverse cast, etc. So, they kept the Bond essentials but added those ingredients in to the last era. Wherever they decide to go next will likely be the direction for the next ten years. What will still match the tastes of mass audiences in ten years? Got me.

Honestly though, I'm not so worried about another Bond film, I just want to know who's going to be drinking those dry martinis. But I know they have to make the plot and stuff before they choose the actor. Oh well, the wait is good. The best things often come with lots of time. There is a wealth of stuff out there to keep us entertained until next film. As for the quality of the next film...well it's like anything...some Bond films you will find better than others. they aren't really interested in making movies. It's been 2 years since NTTD, 4 years since they shot it. It's not like they were cranking them out before that. They waited to get Craig for a last movie, it was going to be 4 1/2 years since SPECTRE. So now in 15 years we have 3 movies since Quantum, and only two of them were good Bond movies. Maybe it's better they dont make them given their record. They have really turned Bond into a dead franchise. The are very few young Bond fans out there.

The filmmaking landscape is very different today, even compared to when NTTD was being made. I think taking their time is a shrewd move. Bond needs to be out of the public consciousness for a while in order for the next iteration to be a truly generational shift. For me personally, I don't think I'll have nearly as much invested in the next incarnation anyway, as the actor that they cast will most likely be younger than I am for the first time, which will make seeing them as aspirational rather difficult.

But hey, the writers’s strike just ended, the Sag-Aftra strike is still going on. There is a lot to consider. I am still amazed at how the Initial Bond films were made, released and did so well creatively in a short periods of time. I guess things are more complicated now, but you are so right, there is so much we can do in the interim between now and the next film. Cheers! 🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸

if we were waiting for the next Craig Bond movie this lag would not make sense, but we`re waiting for the next incarnation of this character. Craig`s version only worked cause it was the right pivot at the right time, making the franchise feel refreshed. They cant just copy paste that onto the next actor. Audiences would be underwhelmed. Besides the fact that a gap in time between films will only help the next actor, as im sure we all remember the backlash Craig received cause Brosnan was still very much present in people`s minds.

I find it frustrating that they killed off Bond without having a plan to get out of it. They could have had several scripts ready by now we could have one on release and one in pre production. It's made more after the prolonged torture over the No Tine to Die release date . It was agony for Bond fans when COVID put the release date back further and further and now this. No news isn't always good news even if we appreciate your content and events and discussions. It's got to the point where I'm enjoying the fan content more than the official content. I have no interest in James Bond Gameshows the success of those will depend on the contestants characters not the Bond elements. I find most reality shows are full of obnoxious people that you wouldn't root for if they were dangling off the edge of a Cliff by thier fingernails. I'm sounding like a Bond baddie here. I think fans are just venting frustration at no news re a new film no one hates the producers I love Barbara and Michael it's just venting. A lot of us grew up with a Bond film every other year. It's crawled to a stop. I have faith they will get it right when they get back into production maybe they need a rocket up the backside to get motivated. 🤣

Thanks David! I like Timothy Dalton's advice about Bond: "What makes these movies work? What is it that got them going? You've got to go back to the beginning." I've heard the argument that Bond should be a man that reflects the attitudes of the times he's in. In my opinion, that's crap. James Bond should be a man of serious intellect, very cultured, tough, but above all, human. I sincerely hope that Barbara Broccoli does not do something crazy with Bond, making the character gay, female, or nonwhite.

The real question is, what will happen now that Ian Fleming's novels are sliding into public domain? How does that effect future Bond films? Casino Royale is in public domain now, Live and Let Die will be in pd end of the year, Moonraker next year, etc. With the copyright expired, how can EON prevent competitors? Will independent James Bond films challenge EON? What prevents an empowered filmmaker like Christopher Nolan from moving in and taking over ?

Amazon and EON are promoting their new project. And I think that's why they don't want to talk about "BOND 26", when the priority at the moment is "007: Road To A Million".
They're not going to tell us anything. The day you least expect it, they'll make a release announcing the new director and that's it. That could be in the first quarter of 2024. For the rest of this year we're just going to listen to their new adventure competition show.
As a film production company I don't think they are doing 'nothing' all this time. First, they have had other projects after "No Time To Die" like "Ear for Eye" and "Till". And secondly, whatever little or nothing they have, they are not going to say it now.
So what have they done after that? On holiday doing nothing? Noooo...they've done something or have done something. The thing is that they are taking care that nothing leaks out. Remember, it's barely two years since "No Time To Die" was released. Just two years.
    ¡JAMES BOND VOLVERÁ!

I think the new film should be the darkest edgiest bond yet. I'm a fan of all the films, but just for something different go really dark. I thought it'd be interesting if maybe bond was half Russian and half British and his father was a kgb agent, and bond's brother was taken and raised by the kfb, and bond was taken by mi6. And, I thought at the start of the first film bond has been in prison for years for going rogue and doing an unlicensed kill. When he gets out, mi6 wonders if they can trust him, and throughout the films the villain of the series is bond's brother. So, my idea for a villain is quite a bit more personal of a villain than they've ever had.
Here's the titles of the bond films in my idea:
    1. Knighthawk
    2. Prey
    3. Devil's playground
    4. Corkscrew
    5. X marks the spot
    6. Game over

Every now and then I get into Bond; he drifts out for a while but always comes back. Right now he's back; and I decided to watch every Eon Produced Bond movie in release date order to try to understand the whole canon as well as revisit the films for their own sake. I took a week, and when I got to Skyfall everything started to go weird. The whole enterprise was questioning its own premise. Well loved characters were being killed off, new ones were muscling in and threatening the order, through Spectre and then No Time to Die. Bond was a liability, leaving a trail of cock ups after cock ups. When he allowed himself to die at the end I was not surprised, nor regretful, because it was inevitable given the ruthless deconstruction that had been happening. What an ending! NTTD wasn't even a well crafted film. I wondered what Eon were doing, deliberately slaughtering the sacred cow by twisting it into some grotesque version of itself? There was a particular scene in NTTD that made this clear beyond doubt. The Aston Martin surrounded by gunmen in the town square, their rifles aiming at the windscreen in front of Lea Seydoux's seat; while Bond let them fire at the screen until he decided that was enough. I was horrified at the inverse symbolism that had been applied to one of the most cherished scenes in the franchise. I wondered whether I even care for any more Bond. Perhaps he should stay away and not come back. I am not so vested as to be worried that in his absence my life will fall apart - after all, there is an astonishing legacy to appreciate. But to those 'fans' who out of a sense of entitlement self righteously scream and cuss at Eon for their decisions and indecisions, I would advise them to be very careful what they wish for

What more can you do? Like you said there’s no sense in getting upset. It is what it is, and when we have a new film, we can celebrate that. 10 minutes after that film ends, we’re gonna be saying when’s the next one?! Because that’s just what we do.
