dont disagree - but this event really needed guys in tip top shape and Terry has had a major injury a couple years ago to his biceps. He can do some events and maybe you are right, but there are certain events he cant do and he wouldn't want to be a burden to the team if he cant do a number of events.

@Giants Live STRONGMAN that's why this show would be perfect for him :) I know before he had to pull out of Brits earlier this year, he wanted his son to see him compete one last time. Understand the injury meaning he can't do some events, but I bet he could still hang with the top guys in certain things, maybe like farmers walk etc 💪

Also think it would be pretty cool to get other countries involved. Maybe not in the same show but you could have countries like Canada representing or Iceland as both countries have great male and female representation.
Also would be cool to give the show even more layers by having a master on each team such as Nick Best and Mark Felix to make it even more inclusive.
FInally, it might be nice to include athletes that do not get picked for most shows so they can show what they can do. Thought last years show was a triumph and is really something to build on. Well done to the Giants Live team!

@@petershortland478 very well thought out. Though I think your comment on Eddie Hall is a little out of line - as his role as Captain was A/ succesful (yes he did get injured, but he go the victory for his team, which meant there was a very positive financial consequence for them.) His success would probably mean that the UK athletes would likely disagree with you; and B/ the role of captain is a hands-on role, that involves acting in year 1 as 'the coach', 'selector' and 'motivator'. Let's not forget that Eddie is a WSM winner with great experience, huge respect from his peers in competition, and was full of insights for his UK teammates to follow. Iso was Martins btw... He was brilliant. I dont however disagree with you regarding Luke. He would be a very good team captain. totally agree. Plus - Your athlete selection suggestions are outstanding. Im purely disagreeing with suggesting that Eddie is not an athlete still - Is that because he is too old? That cant be true as Felix is 56. Over 20 years older. is it because he came out of retirement? Granted it was a surprise but the facts suggest he handled it fine. besides leading a winning team, think it's fair to say he was competitive in what he did. He won one event and got injured in another which he looked very strong in. PS - interesting list of events you put down. How would you do the Atlas Stones in a team situation?

This comment I expect to be erased, someone just has to say it. Isn't that suspicious that Dixson attempted the men's weight and got further than top 5 world's strongest men like Martins, Faires and Bobby? 200 kg per hand for her, and she wins over grip superstars like Martins? Very strange. Specially in those days of female empowerement being shoved up your noses.
    .
If you've ever trained grip on farmers, it's such a small muscle group and so dependent on hand size (more mass against the handle generates friction), that if you go from 100 to 110 kg per hand it already becomes a different ball game. How a woman is holding 200kg per hand and defeating Martins? Again, strange.

    • @brendanrichards3159

Perhaps it is just applied physics. People with a longer wing span have the columns leaning further, making them heavier. I don't know what the practical difference would be, but I suspect there is a pretty big advantage to having a smaller reach.

You're right I heard Colin telling the staff to turn down the gravity when it was the females go!

    •  Год назад +3

@@spokeen6249 There's a number of ways you could get misled and not even knowing it, examples: A) the angle of the pillar may be different for the women's attempt, resulting in less weight at the handles. That may be true even for Dixson's attempt and Colin simply didn't tell you that. B) How many times you've seem Colin exagerating status, like saying a 6 foot 5 man is 2 metres high, or a 185 kg man is rounded up to 200 kg? It's all tv show. They can tell you anything you want to hear.
      .
In times of female empowerment, it's a "great story" to say that 1 woman has beaten several male superstars at the same weight. Were you there to measure the angle of the pillars? Were you there to even check if they didn't remove any plates inside the pillar (I assume it does have plates inside). You weren't. You're just believing Colin, which has a known record of exagerating things and creating agendas, rigging in favour of fellow competitors, etc.
      .
      C) Use logic. On every other event, women's weight was 50% down. Why would only ONE event (Dixson's attempt) be at the same men's weight, while at the same time, all other female athletes except Dixson used the allegedly female"s weight? Dixson may have well used female's weight, and the presenter simply didn't tell you that, and you believed what he said.

    •  Год назад +1

@@brendanrichards3159 I'd entirely agree with you, but they have stated times before the event is measured for individual athlete's height, so that the pillar gets adjusted at the same angle for every athlete, thus meaning consistent weight accross the field. I was not there to measure the pillars, obviously, so can't tell by the images if she is hanging the pillars any more upright than the men. For a more indepth comment, please read my comment to Spoke en right below this one.

We have no reason to take down your suspicions as we found it hard to believe ourselves. That fact is it's true - there is no illusion going on here. TBH - It's a huge surprise to us, as well as most of the women taking part as well that they were much closer to the men than they imagined. Gabi was extraordinary. So please dont damage what she achieved with rumours or suggestions - though it is understandable. But it's simply the way it is. In fact, what we must conclude after seeing this is (seeing as there isn't much data on female grip strength/holding grip strength in particular) that female grip is not as far off males as before this show we all would have likely assumed. So please don't think we are trying to somehow pull the wool over the strength world's eyes or that we are falsely trying to power women through some sort of deceit. Why would we? The fact is it is the females themselves who have gone out there and shown us their ability. Assumption is the mother of all ...... So we mustn't assume they are that much different than men in a number of possible strength tests. And if as a result of this testing it is somehow empowering them - then great! But they are the ones who are empowering themselves through their ability. That is simply the way it is. It happened how you see it and its as simple as that.

Anyone takes up a career in strongman better be aware how damn hard it is.
What type of job do you have to give 100% of your strength and end up in last place with little financial benefits.
British really supports their strongman shows and that's great.
