- Once again, we're BACK with the Model A, and honestly, I think this is one of my favorite episodes yet.

Cool channel I get a weird feeling that dude has like 10 people working in the background to do all this.
I’m flattered lol
@@stanceworks cheers.
Clearly a new comer 😂😂😂
Sorry mate, it's just one guy "Mike" yeah he gets some help from friends from time to time but most days it is just Mike and maybe his girlfriend doing interior things. Cool guy and super modest, we had a chat at world time attack, and I could tell instantly it wasn't all show for the fans. He is just a honest no BS guy!
Well he does mostly say "we" and "us" and not "me" and "I", but I think that's his way of including us. There might be someone helping out a little but Mikes the driving force.
Hey if this RUclips thing doesn't work out, at least you can fall back on making control arms for a living.
😂😂😂😂😂
@@jorgesierra4714 Stanceworks custom control arms - we guarantee at least 6 prototypes or your money back!
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha
Fr
I snorted so hard that I think I damaged my sinuses
The narration is just as good as the fabrication and unique builds done here. I can't express how much it adds to the overall aesthetic of the viewing experience. Everything is so well thought out and easy to watch. I just wanted to put that out into the universe. Thx Mike.
Yeah.. Thx Mike.
Very true, thanks alot Mike
I don’t understand why this channel doesn’t have at least 2milj. subscribers?! 🤔
I got the warm and fuzzies when you mentioned the OG's of the channel seeing you carpet the Ferrari. Love seeing your growth as a channel, 78 sets of control arms and all.
When you take the wheels off next, clean all,the copper slip off thoroughly, it reacts will alloy and can cause galling…. Use a ceramic, aluminum or nickel antisieze 👍
Copper slip is only for steel on steel. 👍
I was going to say the same. Working on boats it is twice as fast with salt and electrolysis and can eat lower grade metals like whoa all day. May I recommend ceramic, it reacts with nothing and gives no F's about heat.
I cannot believe that the Model A was sitting for two years! I remember the wreck and then the Ferrari took over the channel for a while. Congrats on getting the Model A rolling again.
You used to be able to get thin pressed board at the hardware store. Those flat door cards can be replaced with that. Just trace the cutouts onto the new board. A sheet of plastic glued to the door serves as a vapor barrier and the new door panel will last years.
I remember looking this thing over at SEMA years ago....I dig it !
15:40 might want to make a little trim ring to go behind the window crank, with it being square it's going to work a hole into the door card over time.
Ah, another episode of ControlArmWorks! Time for a brewski.
Tapping in your lathe can be easy. Keep the part in the chuck of the lathe and then insert your tap into the drill chuck. Put your lathe in the highest gear (where its easiest to spin manually) then spin the chuck by hand while applying a little force to the back of the drill chuck. Once you get the tap started you'll be able to spin the lathe chuck by hand and it will 'suck' the tap into your part. Perfectly straight taps every time. Obviously, don't turn the lathe on at any point while doing this. That would be a very fast way to ruin your tap, part, and day.
Great progress and it was good to see some proper fabrication on the channel again. The window crank was really impressive and I'd leave it on the Montegi wheels. I never was feeling the 5 spokes.
Gotta love a dig at e36 door panels! Also the surf music while welding up the frame closeouts was great.
Finally the cool Wheels are back 😍😍😍
Always love watching when you're in your element; engineering, fabricating and just making cool stuff ⚙🛠👍
awesome to see her rolling again, i remember when ya stacked it. I was super gutted for you back then, love the truck
Header repairs are always fun, you killed it though. The flange replacement came out great & was definitely the best solution. Might've gotten some stress cracks on the other primaries in the future once it went through a few heat cycles.
It’s such a killer build, would hate to see it go.
Your channel is so underrated for what you build
What a lovely car. And by lovely, it’s a beastly thing. The question is what do you do with it if you own it. It should be driven, but it’s soo pretty and raw. Someone has to drive it in anger and share it with people to love and adore. Get Nicole Johnson’s Detour to give it a shakedown and pass it to the next lucky soul.
Quality just keeps getting better and better. Y'all really knocked it out of the park on this one.
I can’t believe I’ve been waiting two whole years for you to get this thing rolling again lol , love it, and I hope you keep it.
One day I’d love to build me something like this. Don’t get me wrong the Ferrari is beyond cool and a lot of work has gone into that car to make it truly special but this is my favorite.
This is the coolest ford I've ever seen...well done I bet it's fun
I understand how hard it is to get motivated to work on a project you have already mentally moved on from, but it is looking great.
I had a chuckle when you called the crash a “fender bender” on a car without and fenders 😂
Man I remember seeing this beauty at SEMA back in 2018 and losing my mind over it! I took so many pictures of it and spent hours going back and looking at it! That was even before I realized it was built by the same guy whose automotive related pictures I had been looking at for quite some time! Also I have your website to thank for the beginning of my obsession with 55-57 Chevy 3100 trucks because of your photo shoot of Adam’s beautiful red 57 3100 task force truck! Thanks for all your hard work and content throughout the years!
No such thing as excessive when it comes to safety. Love the video buddy. 🤘
I would say not to overly sweat the E85 deal. I leave it sitting in everything for long periods of time, and so far I've never had a problem from it at all. This beast you're (re)building is looking fantastic!!
If I have to tap something that I’ve been turning in the lathe I disengage the motor, engage the tap with the part and use a live center to make sure I get it started straight, turning the tap by hand(tool).
That's the logical way to do it for people with a bigger brain than me
Should have added a rosette weld to the bungs.
Its hard to believe it has been more than 2 years. Crazy!
Absolutely love this thing. It combines the greatest aspect of so many automotive genres so seamlessly. At home on the track, a hot rod show, or being the most obscene thing at the drive in. Just awesome.
Build... Moar... Control... Arms... It's like a bit of a running joke, but they look better and better every time!!
28:17 LETS GOOO MORE CONTROL ARMS!!!!
The Ford is an utter caricature, a cartoon of tires, motor, and metal.
...and i love that. :D
Mike, the 2 best ways to tap in a lathe are put the tap in tailstock chuck and don't do the clamp up so it can move freely, have the saddle far enough away so the tailstock won't hit it and run the spindle at like 40 rpm then push the tailstock forward till it starts cutting and pulls itself in, just be ready to stop the spindle when you're at depth. The other way is get a spring centre and use taps with a centre in the shank and put the spindle in lowest gear and use a wrench to turn the tap, just keep winding the tailstock in to keep pressure from the spring on the end of the tap.
I've tried this in the past and it didn't go well, I need more lathe lessons to be honest. I try to stick to only what I know given how dangerous the machine can be with incompetence or complacency.
@@stanceworks lots of cutting oil, doing it dry is going to make a mess and it works much better with spiral taps or gun taps which don't need to break swarf, hand taps should be backed off after a turn or two. And if your lathe doesn't have a foot operated spindle brake the first mentioned method isn't the best idea to try. Practice on some scrap
This beast might be my favorite build on the channel. Love seeing it.
Thanks Mike
Love ya work, and keep them coming.
Great to see the SW opening credits also - always sets the scene.
I have no interest in American hot rods or Model As but it's a testament to the quality of the work, not to mention the filming that I watched the whole video from start to finish, and even went back to watch some parts again. Without doubt my favourite car project channel on RUclips!
Damn, Mike! The production value in this episode just sky rocketed! Very impressive
That Jig is awesome.
OMG ! GREAT EPISODE !!
ROCK ON MIKE !
Cheers from Wisconsin !
Run 91 through it once a year. Helps with the varnishing.
Love the window cranks!
Wow. This Model A is looking amazing. I love the old rat-rods. Can't wait to see what kinds of projects you take on when this is finished.
You should be able to get the alignment square laser etched when the parts are cut.
So nice to see the "A" on the ground and getting closer to being on the street. Wouldn't it have been easier/better to just take a 1/4" thick piece of metal and mill out the slash cuts in the end caps? No chance of corrosion under the decorative side of the metal. I'm pretty sure it wont see rain but it is going to be washed at some point. Rust will happen under there unless it's dipped in paint to get under there.
Leave the grill shell off. Looked like an after thought when you first built it anyway
So great to see this back together. I can concur, it's a comfortable ride!
I like the retro Ford Motorsport hat!
This car got me to your channel many years ago
I love this channel. Mike 'Control Arms' Borrough, keep her lit.
Lets Go StanceWorks!!! 💯💪🏽💯
I’m happy to see more content on this car but sad to see it go.
Outerknown jacket shirt FTW!
Love everything you do! Thanks for making really interesting vids. Hope you find time to progress the wide-body 928 too. No pressure though, loving Jigsaw too.
Great to see the thought and work thats going into this, cant wait for the next one. New subscribe added. Love those headers.
Freiburger and Dulcic have already proven on Engine Masters that a smashed header tube doesn't affect flow or performance. ☺️
Love the prototyping uses additive and reductive manufacturing
Steel tube for track rods on a road car is a very sensible move.
Why not use some nice polished or blued wingnuts on those front windscreen sliders
Man I'm gonna miss the '31 Ford, she's my favorite on the channel. I know you need the money for more projects but hope you can find a way to keep her. Would love more '31 content
I would have recommended a shop that had a head belt sander to flatten your flange.
Missed seeing this monster.
It’s a really impressive model A.
Whether you sell it or not... can we get a ride along video of this beast? Keep up the work. Always love the videos!
Not going to lie, thinking of you selling this thing would bum me out, because I found your channel back when you were still building it, before the channel really took off. Back then I couldn’t believe you didn’t have more subscribers… look at you now! But I know the funds from selling it would lead to more greatness. Do what you’ve got to do man!
The Model A looks so Small on the ground! Great job Mike!
This truck looks SO GNARLY! I want to build an old Ford hot rod someday. Great content as always, much love from Texas!
dont sell it, love this extrem build 💯👍
Two thumbs way up!
This thing looks absolutely sick!
Seriously, i'd like to see you driving that truck. You've invest so much and i feel like you should enjoy it a bit.
Good lord. You said two years ago and i went back and fact checked you, but ill be damned. Not only was that 2 years ago, but the Ferrari was "done" over a year ago.
Time is flying.
Your knee technique is pretty impressive 😅
that thing is sick sir
Make and model of the desk top power supply please, maybe a stand alone video.
Those tuned exahust headers are beautiful!
22:30 I’m certain that the threads in the aluminum would be weaker than the threads in the steel. I think you stumbled into a safer solution.
It looks awesome, especially on the Motegi wheels
This is still my favorite build. So fkn awesome
Amazing work.
Great to see this back on the ground!
Clamp tie rod in lathe, and spin the chuck by hand to tap those easier.
You can also use your bench power supply for electro-plating or anodizing.
bro, its a keeper!
these wheels !! 🤩
This has my attention span 😮
First time I see this machine. pretty nice!
Would love a pair of those window hinder handles!!!
Music was rad on this episode 💪🏼😎
Been waiting for this :)
I like this project. 👍
Best regards from germany, Frank 🙋♂️ 🇩🇪
You got skills...
And in sure you can use that e85 in one of those peterheaters
Fixturing that header would be a pain for milling. I have got warp out by using some shims at the ends and using heat and claps to reverse bend them. Should get that 1/8th down to a 1/16th or less after cooling.
That is cool.
You definitely know how to close out a week!
