    Good vid thanks for posting. This provides the basics and all the comments will help me dial in my mechanics to near perfection. I have a BMW x5 diesel so the RAV4 will be easy. For my DIY tranny fluid changes I made up a pump system by using a “new” 3-gallon gas can, a 12v pump that I purchased from Amazon, the 😊pump is tie-wrapped to the gas can handle, wire leads long enough to reach the battery, big alligator clips for the battery connection, and a momentary on push button at the gas can. Then I have a 3/8” hose that goes from the pump to the gas can, and from the pump to the tyranny. This allows for better precision with the touch of a button while filling the tranny within minuets. The gas can will hold up to 12-quarts of tranny fluid so I typically fill it for what I need depending on the vehicles specs, or what came out when I drained the tranny. When I’m done I drain the unused clean tranny fluid back into a quart bottle for later use. Be sure to drain the gas can when you’re done so you don’t cross contaminate fluids for the next tranny job. ✌️(Victory)

    That is not the way to service that transmission the level check must be done correctly or severe damage can be done also that fluid they used is wrong I know it says it's compatible but only one Toyota WS transmission fluid should be used why risk it trying to save a few bucks to check the level the transmission must be within a specified temperature range to check and that six speed transmission is very sensitive to fluid level after checking a test drive to check for whining if any is present the level need to be rechecked to prevent damage

    • @9ZERO6

      It is not that complicated. A scan tool to monitor the trans temp and watching the drip of the drain is required. But it can be done. Yes WS (World Standard) fluid, but after 18 years of this fluid being on the market, there are other fluids thay meet the Toyota spec out there. It is just a very low viscosity fluid with a proper add pack. Toyota regular auto transmissons have an extremely low failure rate. The only issues were related to the torque covertors which is not fixed by even geniune Toyota WS fluid. It was a design defect from 2013 to 2015 Toyota vehicles with this trans. After those years had no issues And there were recalls.to handle it.

      My thoughts exactly. Dropping the stand pipe would have drained out about another 1.7 quarts. A few more required if the torque convertor was flushed. This guy is functioning like a non-trained backyard mechanic who doesn't know how to completely drain out the ATF pan? I wonder if he even knows how to check for proper ATF level at the stand pipe at the correct temperature? Does he know to use WS fluid which Toyota still recommends?

      Unfortunately, Indy shop doesn't use factory parts or fluids. It will be too expensive for the customer and they have no room to make money off the parts and fluid. The fluid he used looks like Valvoline ATF which is equivalent as they noted on the back label. However, to not know what tool to take out the bolts is definitely something that makes him untrustworthy to work on the clients car. The client being there should know better to run.

    • @avenqer
      @avenqer 2 года назад +3

      As a person who has seen the results of transmission flushes first hand. I 100% agree. Drop the pan, clean it out, clean off the magnet and change the filter. A flush forces all of the metal shavings to go throughout the entire transmission, lodge into areas and destroy your transmission.

    • @douglasrodrigues8361
      @douglasrodrigues8361 2 года назад

      @@avenqer So what you're saying is leave half the dirty oil in? Not me. I flush the transmission, transfer case and both front and rear differentials and transfer case every 60,000 miles on my Explorer. Never had a problem now at 211,000 miles. On my 2018 Rav-4 I'll continue doing that every 60,000 miles as well. : Engine oil changes on both vehicles are roughly every 5,000 miles, not 10,000. Cheaper to buy oil than parts and time to rebuild worn out components. What disappointed me with the Rav-4 is that the "ATF filter" is a strainer screen? I added two magnets to the transmission pan. I do my own work, but if anyone decides to get a transmission flush at one of those quicky lube places, then all bets are off. Those people don't know what they're doing...if they actually did anything.

      This definetely not the right way. Valvolive trans max transmission fluid is perfectly fine. (Valvoline recommends it) Toyota, transmission ws fluid is way too expensive. Also, the transmission pan has to be dropped and change the filter inside. You suppose to measure the new fluid and compare to the old fluid. You add half to 1 quart extra, warm up the car up to between 110 to 120 degrees fahrenheit, ( Get yourself a laser thermometer, they are cheap around $20) go through all the gears, then re-check the transmission fluid by taking off the bolt (Not the filler tube!
      ) make sure the fluid pours into a trickle, put the bolt and new washer, then drive the car to make sure there are no noises and leaks. You're done.

    Wrong. You should run the engine to circulate the new oil then flush it. Do it 3 to 4 times til oil comes out clean. Always measure how much comes out and put that amount back in. Tran oil change not recommended. Maybe after 100,000 miles.

    • @LessExpensivefix
      @LessExpensivefix  Год назад +1

      🤣🤣🤣🤣 is not oil is fluid and for Toyota recommended at 60,000 miles if the car has more than 150,000 miles foll flush with can't destroy the transmission this why drain and fill is the best solution to keep your transmission safe this why I never destroy a transmission in my life I know why I'm doing and I charge really cheap $150 is not that expensive

    • @LessExpensivefix
      @LessExpensivefix  Год назад +1

      If you think you're a smart take your car to Jiffy Lube it would destroy your transmission with full flash machine always the old school method is the best when you flush the transmission all the way do you have 50% transmission work good and you have 50% transmission drop dead learn study cars more than don't take like doctors they believe only and machines but they forgot who creates machine is human I study everyday with any new car I study with

    oh No brother... u made a big mistake in ya life. Listen! i am going to explain to you how to your transmission will last 4ever. If it is a sealed tranmission, DO NOT change ịt bc it will last up to 250k or more.. If you change it , you will introduce dirty stuffs into the tranmission and it will cause the tranmission to stop working properly. I guranteed you will have tranmission problem at 150k if u change it every 40-60k .. this is how u do it if it is a sealed tranmission... flush it at 100k at the dealership then DO NOT flush again..u can only flush once bc if u flush many times, it will break up sealed stuffs inside the transmission. If u do that, u will never have problem with tranmission until 300k .. if u listen to old school mechanic to change tranmission fluid every 40-60k on a SEALED tranmission, u will have problem with tranmission after 150k or less... do not listen old school mechanics, their mind is old school and they think every car needs to change it at 40-60k

    I'm going to be honest I stopped watching the video after this guy used the locking pliers to pop the drain plug loose. That is a complete hack way to do that. If you can't get the proper tools to do certain jobs then don't. Do better and get the correct tools for the job. I ordered the 6mm hex bit on Amazon for like 4 bucks so either he's just cheap or flat out ignorant.

    This guy is a hack. Did he even bother to drop the trans pan and change the transmission filter? Rav 4 s have a transmission filter and it should be replaced if you are go to the trouble of changing the fluid! Plus, never trust a mechanic that has dirty oil all over his hands. Wear rubber gloves bro. 😂

    • @LessExpensivefix
      @LessExpensivefix  Год назад

      Is not up to shop to change the filter is up to the customer if he want to pay more to change the filter and see your transmission for the new cars costing too much and the special order only from dealership so customer it doesn't want to pay more money because I have to buy the fluid from dealership and buy the filter from the dealership too to keep the car under warranty for the cost to do all this job rightly it's up to the customer if the customer want to pay more money and do everything be done properly but thank you don't know dealership he doesn't change the filter too he do drain and fail if you don't believe me call the dealership and ask them how much drain and fill transmission fluid and how much for change transmission filter and the oil service and see how much you got to be charging you almost between $500 to $600 service

    • @LessExpensivefix
      @LessExpensivefix  Год назад

      Why is transmission fluid change so expensive?
      Typically an automatic transmission fluid change cost is higher than a manual transmission. This is because the job may also require that your oil filter and pan gasket be replaced as well. The total cost for this service you can estimate to be anywhere from $300-$500.Jan 18, 2022
