    4:32 You need to emphasize one important step. Before draining, you must make sure your car is LEVEL. Using a leveler with a magnet and attached to the bottom frame. There is no way to judge if your car is at correct level. Good video overall.

    For 2016 camry over 230K miles do you still recommend transmission fluid change?

    • @tempestv8
      @tempestv8 Месяц назад +1

      It really depends on the condition of the old fluid inside the transmission. If it is extremely burnt and black, there could be a risk that the fresh fluid may cause the transmission clutches to slip, as they may already be in poor shape. Personally I would take the risk and just drain the sump and refill as per the video, and not use a flushing machine. If the transmission fails, it was already on borrowed time. Only use genuine Toyota fluid, not a cheap alternative.

      @saltysaty8686 5 месяцев назад

      You don't know if the last tech changing the trans fluid put back in the spec amount for the entire system overfilling it. It may have way to much in it right now causing increased pressure when warm without enough room for heat expansion.
      You want it to be warmed up and the car to be level so it will overflow the right amount.
      This also checks if you did not add enough none will come out so you know your low.

    • @drpicmeup
      @drpicmeup Год назад +1

      Yeah it needs to be between 104°F - 113°F when you drain the overflow fluid. If the temp is lower than this range, you'll drain too little, if it's higher, you'll drain too much.

      Engine must be running when draining off the excess. If the engine is switched off, too much fluid will be drained and the transmission will be effectively underfilled. Driving with low transmission fluid will be bad for the transmission.

    • @raymondgarcia9641
      @raymondgarcia9641 3 месяца назад

      No you should never add a gallon because you're not draining a gallon. You need to measure what came out and add only a half a quart more than what came out. Start the car warm it up shift the gears. Taken for a short drive and then while it's still running remove the drain plug and whatever excess overflow will come out shouldn't be much. Put the plug back in that's it.

      Its never to late to change it your just gonna have to do a few changes more often till the fluid ie clear. When you chnage the oil you dont get all the fluid out some of it stays in the torque converter. So you gotta do more frequently changes till the fluid is clear then you can change every 40k miles or so.

      The only way you know if the level is correct is to overfill it. If you perfectly fill it or underfill it, fluid will not come out and you won't know how low it is. Overfill it and drain to the appropriate level, now you know it's perfect

    I own a Toyota RAV4 from 2015, and it has accumulated 150,000 miles. Surprisingly, the transmission fluid is still original. At 160,000 miles, I did transmission flush at the Toyota dealership, and now it’s at 200,000 miles. Remarkably, the transmission is still in excellent condition. My friend, who worked at the Toyota dealership, advised me to only have the transmission flushed at the dealership because they have the specialized equipment to perform the procedure correctly and without causing any damage to the transmission. He warned me that using other shops for this service could potentially lead to issues. Since the transmission flush at the Toyota dealership, my car has been running exceptionally well, as if it were brand new. Now, I can confidently expect my car to last up to 300,000 miles before I need to consider replacing it.

      These transmission are called sealed, so when you drain the fluid only 2 liter comes out of 6.5 liters
      I like to keep adding 2 new litter every 30k to keep the transmission clean
      But if I let it till 60-100k, 2 liter change not gonna effect that much, only flush has to be done
