    I did everything and went to drain it after i filled it back-up and more came out than should have. So I went to remove the yellow straw and the allen part of it was stripped. So odd, cause i put back in, hand tight. So now I’m screwed.

    Great job Ali- great way to keep the transmission running for a long time. If you just measured out used trans fluid and put in exactly the same amount (assuming no leaks) would you still recommend drainage of the overflow?

    I changed mine today. I was surprised how fast the fluid temp went up. (Air temp was about 50f) I would suggest getting a cheap scanner so you drain at the proper temp.

      @@GlobalSecularism Of course. Get it up to temp, cycle through all gears (park neutral, reverse) leave it running in park, and undo the plug on level ground. You want to see a small amount of transmission fluid coming out. If a lot comes out, too full. If almost nothing comes out, its underfilled

      Its never to late to change it your just gonna have to do a few changes more often till the fluid ie clear. When you chnage the oil you dont get all the fluid out some of it stays in the torque converter. So you gotta do more frequently changes till the fluid is clear then you can change every 40k miles or so.

      You don't know if the last tech changing the trans fluid put back in the spec amount for the entire system overfilling it. It may have way to much in it right now causing increased pressure when warm without enough room for heat expansion.
      You want it to be warmed up and the car to be level so it will overflow the right amount.
      This also checks if you did not add enough none will come out so you know your low.

    • @raymondgarcia9641
      @raymondgarcia9641 15 часов назад

      No you should never add a gallon because you're not draining a gallon. You need to measure what came out and add only a half a quart more than what came out. Start the car warm it up shift the gears. Taken for a short drive and then while it's still running remove the drain plug and whatever excess overflow will come out shouldn't be much. Put the plug back in that's it.

      At 100k you should remove pan to clean magnets and change pan gasket & transmission filter also. Only around half the fluid comes out whether you use drain plug or drop pan.

      The only way you know if the level is correct is to overfill it. If you perfectly fill it or underfill it, fluid will not come out and you won't know how low it is. Overfill it and drain to the appropriate level, now you know it's perfect

      It can't be checked, I recommend you change it twice, because with every change, only 2 litters will be replaced

      Do this procedure at least twice to clean the transmission, because everytime you drain only 3 litters comes out

      These transmission are called sealed, so when you drain the fluid only 2 liter comes out of 6.5 liters
      I like to keep adding 2 new litter every 30k to keep the transmission clean
      But if I let it till 60-100k, 2 liter change not gonna effect that much, only flush has to be done
