- So many Milorganite copies and fakes out there (I'm having fun with that term, watch the vid please) that I decided to do some content about them so you can learn how to spot them, but even more than that, you can become an informed consumer.

I love this stuff. It’s magic in a bag.
that's what she said
Lol! I had that exact same experience… neighbour’s said what’s that smell?
@@Thelawncarenut yes sir lol.
Last time I spread Milo on my lawn my neighbor asked me what that smell was and I told him it was "The Smell of Success"
because that is all he needs to know!!! 😂
I just threw down a crapload yesterday😂😂😂😂 🤫🤫🤭🤭🤭
💀💀💀💀 gonna use that one
Neighbors bout to get blind sided
I love me some Milo! I only use it once a season, but every time I open that bag... brings a smile to my face. Great video LCN! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
If you can find it, it has almost tripled in price over the three to four years.
This is going to be a fun set of videos! Can't wait 😍
I like these videos from you that get into the “geeky” side of our hobby/passion/obsession. Shines a light on things and makes you think about what’s best for the individual. Excellent work.
I knew you would like this one since you texted me about it 😁. I found this at Tractor Supply on 64 and it was the last bag they had.
@@jeremynguyen2346 the place he works he owns it
I can’t tell you how much your videos keep me looking on the bright side of things bro. I still go through the older content and I am always reminded that the grass is GREENER on the other side or the Glass is always half full.
I have to admit that I actually had a lot of fun making this one. I love digging into labels. 🤘
This is gonna be a great series. I really hope it opens some people's eyes as I can already tell where you're going with all of this. Well done bud! 👍🏼
I’m glad you did this video. I’ve been seeing Moorganite & I was wondering if it was another type of fertilizer that milorganite made. Glad I haven’t tried it! Just bought my milorganite this morning!
Figuring dollars per area is a useful bit of info I only recently realized. Super helpful.
Great as always. Lookin forward to next video💯
I’m just surprised by how much milo has gone up in price, it used to be the bargain option
Site 1 Carries the 50lb bags for 18 bucks in my area. Check them if you have one near you.
I just applied Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass Preventer, how long should I wait before spreading Milorganite?
Milorganite is slow release so you can safely apply whenever you like, however that could be wasteful depending on what the rate was when you applied the Scott’s. I’d probably wait at least a month, probably two, to apply Milo unless you want the iron from the milo to get that darker green
@@jlewis7371 what are you applying it on ?
Can't wait for the next video on this. Thanks!
When I first subscribed and started watching you, Allyn, I could find and buy Milo for about 9$ a bag and I would find it on clearance all the time for 5$ a bag cuz no one bought it!! I miss those days
I know, the price has tripled around here and that's if you can even find it, I stopped using it its not worth it anymore. I found another product
What did you find?
$ goes on the left.
Great video I've definetly seen fake milo around before! For a future product you should consider making a blend like Flagship but adding in some prodiamine to be used as a spring "step 1". I think it would sell very fast with that bio nite and all the other goodies plus the prodiamine
Great topic. Looking forward to your next video.
Enjoyed this video and look forward to seeing more. I’ve never applied milo and I have low Phos. Maybe this is the year? 👍
Been using Sunniland products down here in Tampa Florida...works really well
This will be a fun series. Looking forward to it.
Hey from Palm Harbor... I've been using the Sunniland clone from LOWES and am having good success. Neighbors aren't thrilled with the smell, but all the dogs in the neighborhood love to roll in the success. I'm a popular guy right now!
I haven’t been watching your videos for a while now and you have a warehouse now! That’s awesome!!! I’ve been working like crazy haven’t had time to do any lawn stuff, but it’s still pretty cold here in Plymouth Indiana haha…..
Going to get back in real soon!!
welcome back to the lawn!!! (and my warehouse) 😁
@@Thelawncarenut thanks going to Home Depot in Mishawaka tomorrow to buy some Milo!
I can remember Milorganite for $10 a bag, I always liked it.
3 years ago I found it for $6 per bag and bought 6 bags. I would've bought a pallet if I knew how popular it would become.
Using a brown sharpie with a biosolid fertilizer is perfect ;)
Good eye 👁️
I just purchased 10 32lbs bags of Milorganite from my local HD.
$17 a bag, which is way cheaper than the Lesco I was using.
Awesome video. I saw the mooganite a couple years back and noticed what you pointed out. I'm going to give it test simply for the 4 % calcium we'll see. Always a pleasure watching your channel LCN. You have taught much to alot of homeowners including myself!!!!!
Calcium on his bag in this video reads 1.2%
It's 4 % calcium according to the bags I saw. Must be different packaging.
Just went back to the video. His bag actually says 7% calcium
@@SOMETHINGWITHSETH My bad, I did not see that you were talking about the fake Mil-Town beer *hits. The Milorganite reads 1.2%. That 5-1-1 looked good to me when I saw it on sale last fall. I have not seen it yet this year.
Definitely milo is cheaper with the added iron. I'm curious on the cow dung though.
Good stuff! “Aim High”!!
Milo did wonders for my lawn in Virginia. Not so much for my lawn in Reno. I have a lot of things going on with my lawn now other than trying to grow tall fescue in a high desert.
Great video brother! Keep on rocking! Also be on the looking for major discounts at the big box stores right now. I scooped up 4 BioAdvanced Lawn Fungus spray bottles (Propiconizole) for $1 each!!!! Normally $21.98 a pop. Over $80 worth of product for $4! Still on cloud 9 about that one.
Another great video!!
Good clip Al! You wrote “daily” on your vitamins 🤣.
I have use milorganite for over 10 years and my lawn stays green all year long, even have grass growing under my large oak tree, this stuff is the best fertilizer
Looking forward to your input on the the Sunniland All Natural clone. As a Florida boy running an organic, soil-health-focused 11,000 sq ft lawn program, it ticked all my boxes.
Great info.
Moorganite isn't "fake". It's just a relatively new alternative to Milorganite. Moorganite is made by Earth Science. Similar to Milorganite, its made from recycled natural materials, specifically dairy cow manure and chicken feather meal; whereas, Milorganite's source is treated wastewater. Just different slow release fertilizer products with similar sounding names that essentially serve the same purpose. I prefer Milorganite over Moorganite (which will make your lawn smell like a dairy farm), but both are effective products.
Menards carries a Milorganite substitute called “e-Corganite” it’s a 36lb bag of 4-3-0 with 3.5% derived from biosolids. One bag covers 2500 SF, $12.99/bag before rebate
In 2019 I noticed Milorganite was getting hard to find around the Northeast I saw an entire pallet being delivered to Home Depot and immediately bought the whole thing….Unfortunately now it’s all gone😢
I understand milo has sky rocketed in both popularity and price. Just wish I was more available ive been using it for about 7 years now since you first brought it to the for front
Very clean and hip warehouse:)
Milorganite is the best I've tried on my lawn... very green healthy results in little time.
I miss Milo! I bought my house in 2017 and used Milo for the first two years to great effect but starting in 2019 it was impossible to find unless you knew someone who worked at a supplier.
When they run out of Nikes... worry not! We sell Mikeys. Can't buy Adidas? That's ok, we have Abdidas.
😁😁😁
Being from the Milwaukee,Wi region I've used milo for years until I found out that my phosphorus was too high and my potassium was too low. Still a great product that I support.
Podcast question: You touched on pre emergents and I have the one from your store. I'm in Chicago and soil temps are nearing 55. Can I put down my pre emergent and also fix a 4x4 section of lawn with some of that Scotts patch repair at the same time? Can you touch on what else can be applied when you put down your pre emergents?
I buy that Flagship and I love it. My lawn looks nice.
thank you!! It's got everything you need for St Aug!
"Milorganite, I put that shit on everything" lol
any PFAS or "forever chemicals" in Moorganite? Accumulation of the chemicals in the body has been linked to cancer, studies have shown, or other adverse health effects.
We have a Milo clone here in Massachusetts called Bay State Fertilizer. Produced by our local waste water treatment facilities. A true bio solid 4-3-0 with 4% iron. The best part, the last time I checked they were selling for 3$ 50lb bags!
Nice, thanks for the tip! Where can I find that fertilizer?
In Massachusetts
Hey Al, big fan. Warehouse is awesome! So I purchased the bio stimulant package. I had a remaining bag of fert (22-0-6). Should I also use the milo? Just trying to throw'er down!
Appreciate the brown marker for poo fertilizer.
I'm proud to mention that LCN is the reason I've been using this Fert for the last 8 yrs and even have a T-shirt. Full dad mode over here!
Home Depot was actually pointing customers to the milorganite alternatives last summer. They had a huge sign that read “no milorganite, no problem. Buy this instead”
Menards has Milo, but it is only available in WI and there is a ton of it there. Menards also has e-Corganite for $11.56 36# bag 4-3-0. Iron 1.5%
Would be good to make a video of the actual visual results to the lawn, as that's what most of us are concerned about. how good is the lawn is going to look, how long will it last and the growth you get out of it vs color
Was hoping to see you talk about the Nitro Organic bag. I picked up 4, 38lb bags for $13 each at my local hardware store. It does say derived from biosolids on the bag and even better is it's made right here in Georgia where I live. Hoping to see some good results from a local company!
Where are you finding this? I’m all over atl
Manager's special at my local Ace Hardware has Milorganite on sale all month for $8.88/bag.
I'm fully stocked for the year.
Connection between brown marker and Milo?? Great content as usual!
Southern California has none in my immediate area. Sometimes there is a bag or two at tractor supply and it’s usually $20 a bag.
Throwing down flag ship here! Thank you Alyn!
hoorah bro! ✌
Hey fellow southwest neighbor. What recommendation to eradicate my yard of Florida pusley aka Florida Snow aka out of control weed?
Hey Al, in your next video can you talk about which of these contain PFAS? Thanks!
Yeah that's just not in my wheelhouse, sorry.
What’s up Al what!!! Home Depot gave you your own setup in store sweet BOSS moves love it Logan Square
That’s his warehouse but the racks look just like Home Depot 🤣
@@gpoman9988 ah man he got me smh
We all know that the only comparison that matters is how much like success it smells like
truth
I used Milo for a few years and the results were very disappointing. I switched to Anderson 44-0-0 HCU then AMS 21-0-0 this year I will be using a different Anderson fert.
I’ve always wondered about moorganite, I see it online but I’ve never seen it in a store.
It's normally sold at Tractor Supply Company.
@@Duke_of_Prunes thanks for the tip!
Three years ago I was getting Milo for $8 a bag every spring. This year it’s $17.99 at the same store.
You should talk to a democrat about that.
Try Wal-Mart, I just brought 5 bags for $14.99 this weekend.
@@TheSoloAsylum I bought a 32 lb bag in Jun 2020 for exactly $15.98 at my local home depot, and it now sells for $16.98 in the same store. I have the receipt from that purchase to prove it.
If you want ignore the fact that the price of Milorganite has been increasing a lot in recent years - and since long before recent inflation hikes - mostly due to its incrase in popularity and take the opportunity to regurgitate false political propaganda, then you should be blaming republicans, since Milorganite’s price increased a lot more from 2018 to 2020 than from 2020 to 2022.
@@TheSoloAsylum right!! 😂
My local co-op is selling for 9.99
There was a test done I forget where but they compared organic nitrogen to synthetic nitrogen and they were exactly the same compounds. And they should be.
Oh I see you are working for Home Depot!!
My local store must have a great contract with Milwaukee. 8.50 /bag when you buy 4 bags or more. At that price I can’t use anything else, but I do use some Pro-scape 19-19-19 with sulphur and iron. I use it mostly in the fall and milo in the summer. Al, can you review bio-nite for PFAS content. It scared me at first when I saw Milo had it but it is really low. I would like to try your fert, but I want to know the PFAS content first. Here in Michigan we had the whole PFAS issue in Rockford and it is a concern
Why are more people not talking about PFA's @The Lawn Care Nut?
I am glad that more places are making versions of Milo. I just wish every state would use their human waste byproducts like this to pull people away from the synthetics so we can be less reliant on foreign countries for fertilizer and chemical compounds . If biosolid ferts become so readily available that there is enough for farmers to be able to natural and organic compost and similar products for their crops at a big discount than the prices of food and everything would drop and farmers can be profitable again. Thousands of small farms have filed for bankruptcy and been sold to investors who just want the farmland at a massive discount. As well the plants could help subsidize the farming industry as there would be enough plants manufacturing the products that there would be profit available enough to do so. Which would make a big impact on the country.
Great use of the sh!t brown Sharpie!
Brown sharpie was a nice touch... Menards is selling E-Corganite now. Bag is a total Milo copy but the stuff is definitely weak in comparison.
good eye!!!! 🤘
Yep definitely weaker with weaker results if any
lol you said weak.... lol trolling you dude 😅😅
erick m.
I use commercial Milo.. 50lb bag $29 here in L.A.
What is the best time to put this down on my st Augustine grass in Jax Florida and if we already put down some fertilizer down will it hurt it ...
When will the small bag of Flagship come in and Double Dark? Will the Double Dark come in a small too?
Hey allyn. Do you know if the walla walla soil testing site is running behind on processing samples? My sample was delivered to the PO Box last Wednesday. But the sample tracker in the app, it’s not showing that it’s been picked up. Isn’t it bad for the soil sample to be sitting in the water solution for extended periods of time? Took my sample last Monday. It was delivered Wednesday. Thanks pal.
you will be fine, the capsule can only give and take so much so sitting longer doesn't matter. We had a rush on soil tests so I'm sure they are a couple days behind. If you don't get the result by Monday (tomorrow) hit us with a ticket and we will call the lab for you directly: yardmastery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Bomgaars has Milo on sale often
I was just about to apply Milo to my yard. I’ve got two bags. I got them at different stores. One bag says “Derived from Biosolids” and the other bag says “Derived from processed sewage”. One of them is the exact same bag you had in this video with the house on the front. That’s the one that says derived from biosolids. Any advice? Should I put either of these down or none of them?
Weird question but I can’t seem to find that same hat for sale. Would like it to be my 2022 lawn season hat coming up. Appreciate it!
i do use milo and it has proven to me it`s a great product but i`m sure there are better fertilizers out there i`m just not that educated on it. Thanks for the break down it was very helpful.
you will like the video I release tonight, lots of math 😂
Hey Allyn, what do you think about Procare Natural Fertilizer?. I got 30 bags for $1.25 at HD here in Phoenix, AZ. Definitely biosolids
at that price I don't think you can go wrong!
Genuine Mill-Town Beer *hits For The Win!
I freakin love Milo!
Bring on the Alrithmatic !
Walmart had 40lb Moorganite on sale for $9.99. Smelled and tasted like Milo. Picked up 20 bags
Oh good. Smaller bags. I have a big yard, but I find that I only need half to 3/4 of the bag at most. I haven't done Milo in years. I haven't been able to find it. Last time I saw it was 2019.
Lcn menards sells milo under a different name I used some last year spread it on our rhubarb and it went crazy that was some of the rhubarb we ever had
Can someone answer this , i'used weed and feed on my lawn 4 weeks ago how soon can I put milorganite on lawn. Tia
Can y’all make freedom in an 18lb bag please???
I want the Hat!
Home Depot in Los Angeles doesn’t sell it anymore where else can I get it ?
My Fleet Farm started selling a BCA brand with a 5-5-0 analysis. Smells and looks just like Milo. Prills look the same. It's marginally cheaper and I'll probably give it a good few throwers this year to see how she do.
For those of you in the Pacific Northwest, there's a "Perfect Blend" fertilizer carried by Lowes that is similar to Milorganite. It is a 8-4-2 blend, 25lb bag for $16.97. Made in a plant in Othello WA.
It's a "fake" that Allyn described. Directly from the label:
Derived From:
Chicken Manure, Urea, Anhydrous Ammonia, Cobalt Sulfate, Copper
Sulfate , Ferrous Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Molybdenum Oxide, Sul -
fate of Potash, Potassium Chloride, Boric Acid & Zinc Sulfate
I bought two 50-pound bags of Milorganite from my local feed store for $23/each. They ran out, so I then bought several more 30-pound bags of "Nitro Organic" for about $13/each. The bag said "4-3-0" and 1% iron. On the back it says "derived from Class A Eq. biosolids". It stinks like Milorganite, so I assume it works. But the numbers are below Milorganite's 6-4-0 rating.
Just wondering about the high Phosphorous to Nitrogen ratio - while being deficient in potassium. To me, that's what might give Moorganite a nod...
Those good Milwaukee residents need to start eating more.
How can we buy that hat you are wearing? It’s 🔥 🔥
Where did you get the Toro shop stool????????
My local big box has been sold out of Milorganite for so long that they now have a "looking for Milorganite?" sign that suggests trying one of the fakes. Unfortunately none of the fakes work as well.
What can you use if you don't have a postage stamp, I have 16,000 sq ft?
Has any body tried the Menards product? How do they compare.
Calling moorganite a fake is a stretch. I have used milorganite for years and after using moorganite once, I was thoroughly impressed and now prefer it instead of milorganite. It’s a great product!
