Y'know, the scarcity of it is what makes it special. Just like how you *want* Over The Garden Wall to go on forever, but it leaves you with a feeling a bittersweet perfection. Too much of a good thing and you end up with 14 seasons of Spongebob, when 3 would've been perfect.
This song almost brings me to tears every time. This is what is missing from modern music. Real emotion. It's so vulnerable and honest it can't help but be relateable, even when he is specific. That was what was so amazing about early Weezer. I'm one of their few fans that likes all of their stuff, but this is what will stand the test of time.
I have always assumed that this was based off the Opera Madame Butterfly. Its a Japanese Opera about a Naval Officer named Pinkerton who ageres to marry a 15 year old Japanese girl named Butterfly but leaves on military orders right after getting her pregnant. He returns 3 years later with his new wife and immediately regrets his decision to not return to Japan and Butterfly sooner. Butterfly kills herself.

this is their best song that has the most emotion in it. i mean how many other bands can come up with a song that explains how sorry they are with out it being not sad, or not depressing? rivers is the only peron in history who is able to put emotion into his songs and not care, cuz he knows that everybody has those days and that it is ok to sing about what you care for and live for, so lits home he comes back out of hiphop and goes back to emotional and with guitars and not so heavy chords.

@jonmarc1980 thats funny you say that. i saw weezer on guitar center and he was saying pinkerton was a big down fall for them, that his fans basically hated him after that album since he did open up in a lot those songs. but i liked it too(:

I don't even care that it's auto tuned. It sounds amazing. Like I actually detest auto tune. But it's not like t-pain esque, this is actually enjoyable and relaxing and not cringe inducing. Masterpiece
@Astonadada In the mall was written by Patrick Wilson(drummer) Raditude is awesome, but not as great as the rest, Rivers is just trying out different genres of music. He may return but I doubt soon because he seems to enjoy his direction right now.
@Astonadada right, there were only 3 songs that were made by one person. But Alternative music was more popular in the 90's and so one could argue that they were always a pop-band. Raditude was their worst album but I still love it.

Yea rivers is good at that. he is pretty raw such albums like blue, pinkerton, maladroit, white. The black album is supposed to be really raw.
