8:20 very much appreciated the 90s action game goons, seeing the somewhat large numbers down below, following the 80s action movie tradition of coming down at you, one at a time...such courteous goons!
Shame that version is so terribly watered down. I'll play the Taito Memories, or even the Taito Legends PS2 versions I own more often than I'll play my Genesis copy.
I've heard it said the alien at the end is the Belser, the enemies from the Darius series. Apparently they were active on Earth long before the Darius series in the future.
This game was ported in 1991 on the Genesis/Mega Drive, But it was 1 player only and the cave segment was tweaked. In 2005, it was part of the Taito Legends 2 compilation for PS2 and regular Xbox

Great teamwork on Growl (Runark). One of the best arcade beat-em-up games made by Taito.
I love the voice lines. The game came with my Sega Mega Drive 2, so obviously it didn't look or sound this good and still it made a lasting impression

The Growl moniker was for North American (United States, Mexico and Canada) and World (All Other Countries except Japan and North America) regions
I like how ALL of this asskicking and mayhem wouldn't have happened if the bad guys didn't try to blow up our heroes
