    The first game of the 1992 playoffs. This was Miami's first playoff experience and they were determined to make some noise. They started the game with a lot of energy and looked very promising. But that was until Jordan decided to take over. It was total domination.
    After three quarters Jordan had 42/8/6 with some steals and a block. The Bulls having a comfortable lead, he shot only three times in the final quarter. Finished with 46/11/9/3stl/1 blk on 21/34 shooting. Went to the line only 4 times.
    Hoops has the third game of this series where Jordan scores 56 in Miami.
    Post game notes & quotes
    ========================
    CHICAGO (AP) -- These are the playoffs, also known as Michael Jordan time.
    "I told you this is what I've been waiting for. I've been excited all week. This is fun time," Jordan said Friday night after scoring 46 points as Chicago began defense of its NBA championship with a 113-94 victory over Miami.
    Showing no ill effects from the back spasms that bothered him earlier in the week, Jordan scored 15 points in the second quarter when the Bulls went ahead to stay, and 15 more in the third quarter when they pulled away to an 87-73 lead. Jordan also had 11 rebounds and nine assists.
    "He was keyed up, this is his special time of the season," coach Phil Jackson said. "He was anxious to get started and he made a great statement."
    Jackson blamed the Bulls' slow start on being "very nervous -- no, very anxious."
    "The suspense of the playoffs was laboring in the back of our minds. We tried to do too much too quickly in the first quarter," Jackson said.
    "I have no complaints, I wasn't displeased," Miami coach Kevin Loughery said. "We just didn't score. That's a great defensive club."
    As for Jordan, Loughery said, "He's got several levels at which he can play. It's another level which he rises to for the playoffs."
    Will Perdue scored 16 points, 14 in the second half, Horace Grant had 15 and Scottie Pippen 11 for Chicago. Steve Smith led Miami with 19, Glen Rice had 17, Brian Shaw 15 and Rony Seikaly 14 before fouling out in the final period.
    It was a close game in the first half before the Bulls began pulling away.
    The Heat led most of the first quarter. Smith gave Miami a 7-4 lead on a three-point play and the Heat gradually pulled ahead 20-14.
    The Bulls went on a 10-3 run with Jordan scoring eight points to take a 24-23 lead but Smith scored the final four points to put Miami ahead 27- 24 at the end of the quarter.
    A three-point play by Pippen and a basket by Jordan put Chicago ahead 29-27 but two 3-pointers by Keith Askins gave the Heat a 35-31 lead.
    There were three lead changes and six ties in the second quarter, the last at 43-43. Then Jordan struck for two quick scores and came back with a three-point play for a 50- 45 lead on the way to a 60-53 advantage at the half.
    The Heat came within five of the lead early in the second half before Jordan scored five straight for a 67-57 lead, and the Heat couldn't recover.

      Lebron is playing in a soft era,he is not as good as MJ. I will say Lebron is top5 all time, but today's league has changed a lot of rules(Such as Handcheck forbidden, No forearm contact, Defensive three second rules ETC) to support SF SG and provide them more space to drive to the rim doing dunks or layups.
      And that's why you can see today's perimeter players attacking rim more often, not only for Lebron.

    • @peacefulmind1409
      @peacefulmind1409 8 лет назад +3

      and today's league does not have super centers or PFs so that it possibly makes Lebron easier to drive under the rim and dunk. IF MJ plays in today's league, he will have more dunks and layups with no doubt.
      We all see that when Lebron played against 38-aged Tim Duncan in 2014 final, his driving powerness is not as strong as before. Lebron takes the advantage of this era that there is no good big men inside to defend under the basket.
      So, no question Lebron is top 5 of all time in terms of individual ability , but his ability is not as supreme as Jordan.

    • @peacefulmind1409
      @peacefulmind1409 8 лет назад

      +Chengyan Ruan Today's rules protect guards SF and help them to attack the rim, that is why you see today's dunks and layups are more often.
      The former NBA president Stu Jackson also have admitted the fact that rules changed to help outside players to attack the rim and this makes today‘s game looks better to attract more audiences globally.

    • @peacefulmind1409
      @peacefulmind1409 8 лет назад +1

      +Wis Dom If you know the rules' differences between today's league and league in 90s, you will understand that Lebron is not as good as MJ.

    • @Wis_Dom
      @Wis_Dom 8 лет назад +3

      +Chengyan Ruan But that what makes me not praise Lebron. The fact that he DOES play in a softer NBA era but still isn't as dominating means he doesn't make my top 5. But I'm old school, I know for a fact he would get shut defensively a lot back then. He would still score, but he would have to rely heavily on his outside perimeter shot and free throws. So he would still be a talented player, but no where near as great as he is today.

      The sheer fact the Warriors won 73 on Lebron's watch proves he aint no damn greatest. Lebron hasnt even dominated his own era - Duncan 4 💍, Curry 3 💍, Kobe 2 💍, Kawahi 2 💍, JJ Barera 1 💍, Paul Pierce 1 💍... all on Lebron's watch. Imo only trolls think Lebron is the GOAT.

    • @mani-wj6uk
      @mani-wj6uk Год назад

      @@meg-k-waldren I agree MJ is the GOAT but that's the worse argument, the Warriors were in the opposite conference so they only played 2x that year. Even if they won those 2 games that's still 71. You're also counting rings won from since LeBron's 2nd year (which you got wrong too Duncan 3 not 4). If you did that you could say Magic & Kareem 3, Isiah 2, Bird 1, Olajuwon 1, Shaq & Kobe 1, Duncan 1.

I have this game on DVD, but I guess it was from a different network, because once that halfcourt set starts, the camera switches to a behind the back view like on the replay of it shown here, but at normal speed. The ground he covers and how quickly he covers it is amazing. One quick step and BAM, gone.

A foul back then was a freaking foul, now anything is a foul. a 40 point game by a player back then made front page news, now 40 points is almost expected from someone every night because anyone could score 40 point in a game. even pippen was quoted saying that "he's surprise that no one averages 40 point a game" the way the rules are nowadays.

    "it was a lot easier for superstars to score back then"
    Spoken like a 17 year old who doesn't know anything about the NBA pre-Kobe/LeBron/Wade. I'm sure dunking as you're smacked in the face is a lot easier than scoring in a league where you're not even allowed to check the offensive player. I wish a team like the old Knicks or Pistons existed today to show these current Prima Donnas what earning your points against a REAL defense means. Today's NBA is nothing more than watered down leftovers.

    Why don't they do Post-Game Wrap Ups like they did here, where they bring the Player of The Game to the commentators' desk and talk, as opposed to just having a sideline reporter do it like they do today? Jordan looked so calm and relaxed here. But then again, idk. Maybe he looked that way because his team won that game by almost 20 points, lol! Not to mention he was feeling it with a modest, 46-pt performance by his standards.

    MJ in this rookie season had 28.2 PPG at 51% ... Kobe Never had this, ... But PEOPLE .. KOBE ISN'T FOULT THAT HE IS COMPARED WITH JORDAN... KOBE JUST WANT BE LIKE KOBE... MJ THE BEST!!!

    no it wasn't. i could see MJ struggling at times to even get a shot off but still score his points using intelligence on the court. I doubt the players today would be able to hang in there with Joe Dummars and Anthony Mason and Charles Oakley. They would have become better players.. but not at the level of MJ.. Its unbelievable.. in the past the kinda of defense...

    actually the Spurs plan worked.
    He shot poorly in Game 1,2 &3.
    Game 4 he scored 12 pts with 4 Jumpers when the game was decided thanks to Wade.
    he was horrid in games 5 &6.
    and game 7 he shot 52%
    Wow, 52% on wide open shots. I'm "impressed!"

    MJ comes out of game early 1 assist away from triple double. *Lebron would've forced the triple double like the stat chaser and force he is.* Championships matter and how you win them matter. Stat-padding and superteaming imo is a disgrace and insult to the game. The only reason its tolerated now is cause the NBA is now a corporation no longer a sport.
