Excellent. I had no idea/memory that the theme of Splash Mountain was "Song of the South". Got a lot more information than I bargained for, and appreciated every minute of it!

16:34 yup, she spent like 90% of the movie as a frog? And I'm willing to let that go because that is the story (the princess is trapped as a frog) but let her be human in the ride.

      @InnoVision3D  3 года назад +1

My only fear is that frog animatronics would be cheaper to build than human ones. Most likely, they will have her in the beginning and the end and guests follow Louis instead. Also, Naveen better be in the ride too.

I'm confused when you say the proposal for Disney's America was in the 90s then go on to say that it was 20 years after Splash Mountain was built. Splash Mountain opened in 1989.
Other than that this was a great video! This is much better than a similar Splash Mountain video I saw recently where the author did next to no research and said it should stay open basically claiming that since only the animated part of the movie is in the ride it has no racist connections.

10/10 love everything about this! Really appreciated the different takes on things. The JK Rowling really shocked me because seeing LGBTQ community who are Harry potters fans hurt about what she said was sad, as well as seeing how it’s going to hurt the hp world. Quality content!💖✨

tenchi586 lol who are you? funny how you talk about flawed viewpoints and try to get your point across and have people listen to yet attack them. How can you try defend your views while attacking others? Also i didn’t know you were the new spokesperson for lgbtq+ and accept her apology for them. She can say trans people can live their life to whatever fit, but that still does not erase what she said about trans people and how she views them.

The worst thing about changing the red head in Pirates of the Caribbean is just the fact that now her animatronic is brand new top of the line surrounded by a bunch of other low end animatronics from the 60s, so now she kinda stands out like a sore thumb because of how much movement it is capable of....
Besides I don't want to hear shit from the fragile snowflakes who crap their diapers over them changing her out, but are in love with the fact that you have to hear Captain Jack Sparrow now every 2 inches in that ride, ever since they over smeared it with Johnny Depp animatronics and the Pirates film references and there are crickets about that.

In my opinion I really think it should be optional if someone chooses to separate the art from the artist or not and if someone chooses to still consume media or enjoy something that has a problematic history or creator they shouldn't be attacked for it. If someone still chooses to like Splash Mountain that doesn't mean they support racism it simply means they like the ride.
Personally I don't care either way if Splash Mountain gets changed and rethemed I've ridden the ride once and liked it but I don't have a deep love or sense of nostalgia for Disneyland sense I've only been there once and I like Princess & The Frog it's not my favorite movie but I liked it I do think it's nice to see Disney giving love to a property they own that isn't Star Wars or Marvel.

And just this year, they announced the removal of the racist scenes in Jungle Cruise for new cultural appropriate scenes. Now if only they gave us new scientifically accurate dinosaur animatronics to replace the old ones at the Primeval World diorama because I argue that portraying outdated depictions of dinosaurs (swamp-dwelling sauropods, therapods standing upright, leg-sprawling ceratopsians, and tail-dragging stegosaurs) is within the same league as these racist stereotypes.

What are you talking about? JK Rowling has expressed that trans people deserve the right to live their lives the way they see fit without fear. You're only angry that she doesn't see life exactly the way you do.
Your idea in which you mention improvement at the end is not improvement. It's getting everyone to think the exact same way you do and ignoring nuance.

When I created this channel, while its primary purpose was to entertain, I wanted it to serve as a platform to incite constructive discussion about various issues within the theme park and entertainment industries. These fields have always held a deep interest for me, and I hoped that this channel would allow similarly-minded individuals voice their thoughts about these various topics. As I concede in the video, these issues are far more vast and complex than a 15 minute RUclips video could hope to cover, but I don’t want that to undersell the amount of research and thought that have gone into each one. I am all for engaging in conversation, rather than just refuting or arguing, as long as it remains respectful and does not dissolve into a troll-fueled fire fight.
In reference to the J.K. Rowling controversy, her initial tweets, the ones which you reference, do offer her qualified support for the community. Unfortunately, quite as lot has happened since those came out. I am not a member of the transgender community and therefore do not pretend to be an expert on this situation. However, from those that have discussed the issue with me, her support for Maya Forstater, her post about being “worried about the new trans activism”, the Stephen King tweets situation, and the comparison between gender-affirming medical care to gay-conversion therapy, have overshadowed her initial message as she continues to double down on the situation. The fact that throughout these incidents, the majority of the HP film stars, Warner Bros Studios and several writers from her literary agency, have all spoken out against her behavior, clear lines in belief are being drawn.
The point this video was making, was that J.K. remains one of the most notable cases where an author has sparked controversy that has impacted their audiences in a negative light. Whether or not you agree with them, it is clear that many are unhappy with her statements and that it has decreased their overall impression of her work, and has led to them to debate whether or not they can still support it. There will always be controversial authors, Orson Scott Card comes to mind, and Death of the Author does not cover this type of behavior, but now more people are trying to apply this theory to these situations and it is a conversation worth having. This is not about #canceling an author, but rather holding them accountable to their actions and words. And to ensure there is zero confusion on the matter, we here at InnoVision 3D believe that trans men are men, trans women are women, and both are in need of our support. Now, it is entirely another discussion if there is any disagreement to that sentiment.
To your second point, my final message is that we fans of the theme parks should be open to studying our beloved attractions and recognizing that some may need to be refurbished due to their message; even when we are not the ones who are directly affected by that message. What may be offensive to one person, may not be offensive to me, and rather than shutting that person down, I want us to be open to having that conversation to see why it affects someone that way. I personally am not bothered by the stretching room gag in the Haunted Mansion, but someone who has dealt with suicide on a personal level may see it differently than I do. We can still have different emotions and come to an understanding that progress may lead to sacrificing the joke for something else. I still watch the Tiki Room each time I visit the park, but can recognize how its depictions are outdated. I’m not saying “burn it all down, you must fit my exact world-view!”, but rather, that we should be able to discuss the ramifications of an attraction, and what steps might need to be taken for societal growth. We should be able to hold ourselves to the same ideals you want to see from Disney. You see it in film, television and literature all the time, so why not theme parks? The problems that Song of the South now represents cast a pall on Splash Mountain, so if the new theme is handled well and won’t offend anyone, I don’t see any issue with it. Even if it is handled poorly, it still has better source material to draw from.
In the end, I am not trying to force my opinion on my viewers, just as I hope they wouldn’t try to do the same to me. I am just trying to provide my perspective, and a few laughs, through this tiny corner of the internet in hopes that at least, some interesting discussion will occur, and at best, some good can come from it.

that's not what she said-- she repeatedly implied/stated that trans people are not oppressed, are dangers to society, and are somehow tricking people into being trans. contrapoints and sarah z both have great videos here on youtube outlining why, exactly, what she said was no form of activism-- i'd recommend checking them out if you are confused.
