This film is an underrated gem. It has a good story, characters, villains, music, awesome fight scenes and very powerful drama scenes. This film deserves way better.
One thing I like about this movie that it has people like James Arnold Taylor as part of the voice cast! Sure there are the likes of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Larry Fishburne, but the four Turtles were all voiced by people who have done voices in video games and TV cartoons! That's impressive! More animated need to have a good balance of voice actors and name brand actors lending their voices!
And if anyone was wondering if the foot clan are in this movie where the hell is Shredder well it's actually said in the beginning of the film that the Shredder died as this movie is set a year after the turtles defeat the Shredder once for all
Glad to see you talk about this movie! I think it's somewhat underrated and lives in the shadow of the original, and I do think you hit the nail on the head with the main issue this movie has- lack of accessibility. It's one of those movies that feels like a sequel story rather than the introduction, and I'd also say it's kind of a problem how it's half its own thing and half a follow up to the original films since that does alienate non fans as well and makes it harder to feel like it stands on its own. The story plays out like an arc from the 2003 series in some ways, and that would have been fine if it was a sequel or there was some buildup, but as is it falls flat due to lack of context in many areas, including some of its most iconic moments, and the introduction of Karai as if people who've not seen the 2003 cartoon or are just moviegoers are expected to know who she is (the reboots did the same thing which leads to her feeling like a wasted character 3 times in a row).
I really feel like this film is one of those films that is discredited for not being a gigantic story driving movie, but it's just a movie for TMNT fans and for people who like fun movies or just movies in general. I like almost every aspect of this film and though that may be my childhood bias talking there it doesn't destroy the fact that this film is an enjoyable work of art.
I watched this movie a lot and it's my favorite out of the ninja turtles movies. The animation may be outdated but I think it's kinda cool. I just wish Mikey and Donnie had more scenes and some of the dialogue on the Leo vs Raph scene could be improved. But I love the ending.
I really like this movie. And the Ninja Turtles fit well in an all CGI format. It really takes advantage of their acrobatics and fighting skills that are really hard to do in a live action movie. My only real problem with this movie is that the beginning setup is terrible. It makes no sense that Leo would be sent out ALONE to become a better LEADER! And the division between the brothers is due entirely to Splinter not telling them that he sent him away and why, for no apparent reason.
They were aware he was gone though. The division was because they basically got an existential crisis after defeating Shredder and the Foot and Leonardo's absence left them trying to find new purpose until he came back. I do think the movie should have done more to explain this because there's a series of prequel comics that go more into detail and the beginning of the storyline having Leonardo leave for a pilgrimage bears resemblance to a portion of Leonardo's arc in season 4 of the 2003 show where Splinter sends him off on his own to learn from the Ancient One (which also happens in the final prequel comic).
2:34 to 3:03 - Anyone ever seen a computer 🖥 animated movie 🎥 that had a smaller budget than a regular Hollywood movie where the cheapness didn’t show?
I remember watching this movie when it came out in the cinema without knowing what to expect. I didn't like it at first but it really managed to pleasantly surprise me by the end. And is that Mako voicing Splinter in the english dub or are my ears deceiving me?
@@LeopoldLitchenstein Nope, we don't have that yet here. But it's supposed to come this year. Then again, I already have Netflix, wouldn't 2 services be too much? I prefer to buy a DVD when I want to watch something anyway.
@@c0mpu73rguy Most people have several lol, it's all dependent on your budget and whether the service has content you want to watch really. Your best bet for finding it on DVD these days is a 4 pack with the first 4 movies altogether
Wasn’t this movie 🎥 produced by The Weinstein Company? No animated movies from that company received critical acclaim. The only one ☝️ that was a box 📦 office hit was Hoodwinked
I think Iv seen this movie more then any other TMNT related stuff in my life if I been honest(heck some of the songs are still stunk in my head even til this day) 😅my nephew and I guess ex's like seeing this movie a good bit as well well again it not a perfect movie the animtions could be better and I think it goes by way too quickly but the the main theme about brotherhood is a pretty good messages tho but that's just what I think😅Nice review on this tho👍✨

There was a planned sequel where he would’ve made an appearance, but it was cancelled.
No wonder why I remember this incarnation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so well and for so long! Its so good!! I need to watch it again

It's worth noting that this was the final film the voice actor for Splinter was in before his death
the charcter redesigh are giving me kung fu panda vibes

It’s very fitting that Iroh was the mentor of turtles in this film, lol.

I think it’s a good TMNT movie, but my biggest problem is that the animation is kind of bland.

Yeah I feel like the animtions could have been a bit better too.
I will say I do absolutely love the design for the ninjas who are part of the foot clan in this movie
One of my all-time favorite movies

That's because Weinstein was already destroying him and is too inmature to understand animation.

TMNT is one of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. Liked it better than Mutant Mayhem.
Please do a review of the _Tales of Arcadia_ franchise from DreamWorks and Guillermo del Toro.
Ooh yes he must review them!(Because me and you have seen them and believe me,they are one of the best animated series of all time).
You think that TMNT is an underrated/underapprecated/overlooked” movie?? Oooh edgy take bro! No one on RUclips thinks that at allllll🙄
