I just want to say that you have helped me a lot. I’m taking a solo trip to London in September and I was starting to get a little nervous about it until I found your channel. You have crushed my fears and I really really appreciate you creating videos for people like me. ☺️
I love travelling to London in the winter. The crowds are lighter, accommodation rates are down and you can easily get tickets to things. By Canadian standards it isn’t cold although the bone-chilling damp can go right through you. I am fine with my lightest puffer jacket and waterproof footwear for the inevitable shower.
I live in Canada, I think I would over pack because I’m so use to wearing layers for our cold winters. Thanks for giving me an idea of how to pack if I’m ever in London in the winter.
You should try going to Muj! I just left London and they had some great options of gloves that keep your hands really warm and you can also use your phone!
I live up north and it's baltic the now, coming down next week I need to remember that London is a tad warmer than the rest of the UK too. Was there in September and layers were a saviour, the train down wasn't too bad but out and about was colder and the museums were warm so being able to add and remove them as need be was easier than being too hot or cold. I had a vest top on, a lightweight loose long sleeved top plus my jumper and coat which all worked nicely.
Hi Jess!!! I started watching your videos a while ago when going to the UK was just a dream…well this week I booked my birthday/solo/ first time travel trip to London and I can’t wait!! I’m coming from Texas so this video is super helpful since it doesn’t get really cold here. I’m a bit nervous; but mostly excited! I’m so looking forward to you releasing your new 3 day itinerary to help me build the perfect trip! Thanks Jess!! 🥰🥰🥰
Re the gloves - I tend to double up on gloves. I wear a pair of fingerless gloves (the ones that only have the tips cut off) and then a pair of normal gloves over the top of them. This way if I need to I can take the top glove off and have my fingers free to use my phone, use my keys, use my train ticket, without freezing my hands offs because it is still technically a gloved hand.
Hi, Jess, another very useful video particularly for first time visitors. Very difficult to plan for weather in London because it varies so much. Looking forward to your next video.
I wish l would of saw you l would of asked for your help it be a honour 🎖 from America 🇺🇸 bless you always l remember all the London advice always happy to watch your London channel always
I'm enjoying your videos! My husband and I will be visiting London, Ireland, and Scotland the beginning of June for our 30th wedding anniversary. I've already started packing!
I've found that bringing a little binocular/monocular is really helpful, not just for seeing the details in the ceilings of cathedrals and the huge art up high, or even sights from a distance, but also for seeing travel schedules in train stations and airports o you don't have to run for them. I ordered a celestron monocular for like $19 on amazon, totally worth it.
I'm happy to see that I'm pretty prepared since Washington State weather seems to be pretty similar to London. EXCEPT... We need to look a little nicer to blend in there.
You mean western Washington. Here in eastern Washington, more specifically Spokane, we get lots of snow and winters are very cold, while summers are super hot and sunny. Honestly summer drives me nuts...I hate summer lol
Your tips are the best! ... Also, I've had good experience with good gloves that are warm and actually work with my phone. Look for the North Face Salty Dog eTip gloves. Thanks!
Amazon do finger tips gloves for men and women for using your mobile phone happy to help you jess you have sent me so much safe travel advice for travel to London lam a big new fan always
You might find them at a tkmaxx. I work at Marshall's which is the american store and we sell them. Since they're sister stores you might be able to find them at a tkmaxx
@#LoveAndLondon look up Isotoners gloves or mittens. I have a pair of gloves that are fuzzy inside and i love them!!!!! and they actually keep my hands warm. i've always had a hard time finding gloves that will keep my hands warm. and you can also find some with pads to better use electronics. my best walking shoes - sketchers with memory foam, great for walking, especially for walking a long time.
Problem with London it's been wet rather than cold this winter. It's very rare these days to see snow as far south as London, it might happen once every three/five years and even then it never amounts to much. When I was a kid in the 80s, it used to snow bucketloads every year and you did need to wrap up because it would be sub zero for days/weeks. Just like other parts of the world, Global warming is a thing and can't be denied anymore.
Hi Jess, tnahk you for the great videos about London. I've watched lots of them! We are planing to go salsa dancing. One question: what do we do with jacket and purse in a disco? Are there a wardrobes? Do they charge? I haven't found any infos about it... Kind regards!
maybe just visit in the summertime, then. Could be a good escape from the heat, my cousin lived there working for ASU and told me serious heat stories. It's not cold in London in the summer, except for maybe some evenings that need a bit of a sweater. The other big factor is the humidity, the cooler temps are still more humid than you have in AZ, so it might not be the same as your cool temps.
Ive lived hear my whole life but in from october to march/april my go to is a hoodie and a puffer jack over it so when its cold i put my hood with the hoodie and put my hands in my pockets instead of gloves 😂
Thanks for this video :) I live in London now. Could you pls recommend 1-2 brands for thermals and good quality jackets please. It very cold for me 🥶 now!!

in my opinion, London isn't that cold, all I would probably need is a hoodie and winter gloves during the day and during the night I would need a hoodie with a down jacket with winter gloves
Gena Trenco It can be a mix.. I’d say prepare for rain and sun! During this time there is a bit of rainfall but it’s not as much as there would be in winter! Water resistants and boots are essentials! From a londoner 😋
Leanne Cerise thank you so much ! I’m planning for the rain with rain boots and a waterproof jacket. Now onto buying the actual clothes, I’m so excited !!
Gena Trenco yay! Make sure to pack a hoodie or a light jumper too, something that can be easily taken off incase the sun decides to come out. We rarely get stable weather in London lol
Evelyn Rodarte Hey Evelyn! I couldn’t say 100% but the months with the least rain would be the end of July and August! These are usually our busiest times as it is school holidays and summer! The rest of the months really are hit and miss... For example, our coldest/rainiest month used to be December around 6-7 years ago but the last two years have been quite mild in December with one or two days of rain! It definitely changes all the time!😋
I will be going to London on the last. week of March. Do you think a sweater/jumper and a north face small jacket will be enough? I know its an awkward time of year to come, because its not the dead of winter but its not quite spring time yet lol
I will be there around that time too and that is my most stress..what to wear, especially at night and if it will be bitterly cold....I don't want to pack more than one coat....
Hi Jenn, it depends-- the weather can vary significantly. You'll want to check the weather forecast before you come, and I have a weather guide in the London Packing Guide.
Isotoner makes SMARTTOUCH gloves that you can use with cell phone BUT...there is nothing like your barehands. They are only good for minimal uses in my opinion. And they are often on sale at the outlet. Don't pay full price.
@@loveandlondon I think they do the job. level of warmth may also depend on the different style/type/materials . They have several choices for different types of activities. The product descriptions help you choose what is best. The brand also has its reputation being the isotoner/totes brand...so i guess they have those life time guarantees as well.
In short no....but....its a different kind of cold to there. It's not a dry, crisp cold but (usually) a damp cold (its a maritime weather system here). I've met American's and Canadian's who, although the temperature was nowhere near as low as they usually experience in their winters, felt colder as the damp cold was not one they were used to. Chilled to the bone was how they described it. It's worth noting that we only get a few weeks of real cold though, not 3-4 months long cold snaps. Layer up with a decent, water resistant coat/jacket and you'll be fine (the other advantage of layering up is that you're more likely to find a use for all the individual layers at home as well).
Drunk is one option, but really researching the safety numbers, seeing it really IS safer than cars, does help as well. I actively manage my space, if I don't want the window view I close the shade, and noise-cancelling headphones are KEY.

Depends! There's a weather guide in the London Packing Guide if you want to see averages and such.
LONDON'S COLD IS ALMOST SIMILAR TO SHILLONG ,MEGHALAYA ,INDIA .SHILLONG'S AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN WINTER IS 11°C .
But it doesn't snow in Shillong. You can say London's winter is similar to Himalayan states of North India like Jammu& Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal.
