Sorry, but if you're gonna speed up the video, please do a Voice over and not Subtitles! Trying to watch what's going on while also trying to read what is written, is very difficult and you have to keep rewinding repeatedly to not miss what you are doing. 😕
Khione you can change the playback speed on your own to slow down or speed up any RUclips video. :) just click the settings or if on a phone the three dots at the top right of the video. Then choose your playback speed setting.
Khione I actually love this video exactly the way it is. I have watched so many cloth diaper videos and this is my favorite because it is quick, to the point, easy to follow, and well laid out. I can pause and play as needed throughout the project and I have control of the speed that I want to watch it in since there is no talking. With the instructions typed out I can pause right on the words. Usually I would have to turn on subtitles for that, and the subtitles on RUclips often aren’t very good :)
@@JA420love We both have our preferences, and that's fine. I don't like when a Tutorial speeds through it like this, nor do I like having to read the steps rather than listening to them. Makes it much easier for me to follow that way. But that's just me. Everyone is different.
Is this pattern something like one-size-fits-most diaper cover? Usually OSFM won't fit a newborn. But, will this pattern fits from newborn to toddlers.? Just new to sewing..🙄 and also, is it possible to make this without using the cotton inside, like a pul diaper cover?
I don't understand how to use the patterns in the link. I don't know why they are sideways I honestly just don't know how to read it. Going to still try and by the way you did this beautifully!
You have to cut out the side ways, they are there, because is your printer do not print perfectly you may lose 1 or 2 cm from your pattern. You cut out the sides, and place it together (using the marks and the technical drawing).
Living in western Uganda and making for an older woman, not so sure I can find PUL. What's a good alternative? I had purchased a child's raincoat thinking that might work, currently have two cotton layers and have cotton washcloths for the inside.
Hi there- this video is great and I’m hoping to try and make one soon! Can I ask why you choose to add button elastic round the legs instead of the traditional poppers on the front to make the nappy longer? It looks like it would give a better and less bulkier fit but as I’m new to cloth nappying, I’d love to know your opinion! Thanks
This way the diaper fits better around the leg. Whit the poppers you only can make like 3 sizes, whit the elastic as much as much buttonhole you have. And it is really important to have a perfect fit around the leg, because other way you will have leakage around the leg.
Yes, you can use snaps. I am personally not a fan of using snaps, because it takes more time to put on your baby. I did not put the pocket to the back because in the back you need the elastic to fit on your baby`s butt, and because of that it is more complicated to place the opening of the pocket there. So, I`m sorry, but I don`t have a tutorial about that.
The PUL is what makes the nappy waterproof, if you don't use it you will have to use an outer wrap to cover the cloth otherwise you will have leaks everywhere as soon as baby pees.
Well, the PUL makes is waterproof. So no. But if you live is a warm climate and your using the diaper just to keep in the solids, than you can replace the PUL with a cotton fabric, it will be wet in a half hour but on the beach it doesn`t really count.
I have a dumb question.... I see all these cloth diapers with fun different fabrics ( like Disney , Mario, Harry Potter ) . Are these fabrics made of PUL or they regular fabrics ? I’m ASSUMING that they used PUL and then covered in a regular fabric ???? Idk 😐
Margaret Creates that’s what I wanted to know or did they take regular fabric and laminate one side??? Which is basically pul it’s a polyester fabric which has been laminated. Any water resistant fabric can be used but I think if you laminate even a cotton you could possibly use it?
If you search around online you'll most likely be able to find lots of fun patterns. But I also think I found an iron on pul layer on one website (but I'm not positive, I didn't actually read what it was, sorry 🙁)
The peoples usually purchase PUL fabric with a pattern. You can find a lot of pattern, it easy to use. In my video I also use PUL with pattern. This is easier than laminating you on fabric at home :)
You have to print print out and cut of the blank margins than tape it together by the small marks (1a to 1a, 2b to 2b and so on) then you get the full picture.
Hello again, I am not understanding the small Velcro pieces. I had the two 4.5 cm pieces stuck together and tuck them in together to make the tabs that attach to the front of the diaper. But they are the same size stuck together . I am not sure what the 2 cm look Velcro does when the two 4.5 pieces are there and the same size. I assume it is to attach when washing so they don’t stick together. But don’t get how that works. I assume I have missed a step. Why wouldn’t I just put the 4.5 cm loops in the tab and sew the other 4.5 cm to the diaper and then fold over for washing? Please help me understand, thanks.
@@laurakoehler2932 The to small pieces (2 cm) of loop is stitch in the interior of the diaper (on the cotton fabric), so before placing in the washing machine you can fix it (by folding the hook part on to the small loop), that helps to not hook in any other pieces in your machine. It is smaller because it enough to keep it fixed, and if would have a bigger size the diaper inner face may became rigid and potentially irritate the babies skin. And the bigger loop (4,5 cm) is on the exterior of the diaper, with that the diaper is became more adjustable, because when the babies belly is really small, then you can hook the two velcro on top of each other to make a smaller waist.

I made a whole stash with this patter. It is really great, better then my old diapers. Thanks a lot.
I`m glad that you liked it.
You`re welcome.
Thank you so much for providing a real size pattern, broken down into A4 pieces. So much easier to use than trying to size up teeny little images!
I am glad you liked it:)
I don't have a baby yet, but I do have a sewing machine and I'm going to practice now, I love this
Thank you :)
How many cloth diapers can you usually get out of 1 yard of the fabric?
8-10
I dont have a sewing machine this is the first one ive seen possible without one
You can hand stitch it the same way, only it takes a lot of time. When I make this diaper (with a machine) it takes like 1 or 2 hour.
Im thinking about getting metal snaps bc they look more strudy
I LOVE the button in elastic!!!
Thanks

Usually fits from the birth to 3 years,. I don`t think that can be make without the cotton, because the cotton part holds the elastic.

May i know the size of the buttons you used for the buttonholes elastic pls?
Diameter: 16 mm, I think it is a 26L, or 21/32``.

Thank you for your feedback, I will try to make a slower version, until then you can slow down this video by setting the seep rate on 0.5 or 0.25 :)
Wr we VL get this fabr
Aliexpress
And the other waterproof cover
I mean I ordered the PUL fabric (the waterproof fabric) from aliexpress and the cotton fabric from a local fabric store (in Romania)
So we can use normal cotton only right
@@Lachuusedreamwalk I like only normal cotton for the inside, but actually you can use all kind of absorbent (soker) fabric. It is your choice :)

Whats the material in cloth diapers
The outside is PUL (polyuretan laminate poliester), waterproof
for the inside you can use any kind of soft cotton fabric without elastane.
Can anyone explain the pattern? I honestly dont understand... Im sorry, im a first timer.

This is what I'm looking for. A real DIY cloth diapers. But your vdo is too fast. Not much clear. Otherwise Sooperb 👌
When I will have some time, I will try to make a slower version
You have only one dimension for the Velcro I assume that is the length, what is the height or width of the Velcro?
The width of the velcro is 5 cm (aprox. 2 inch).
