@ComplicatedKnots I never knew if it could be done was too much of a scaredy cat to give it a go but I have a collection of sewing patterns to turn into crochet and knitted ones now! I'm super excited to try out a vintage Winnie-the-Pooh one I have 😄
The part about plushie making is my dislike of sewing, I can't imagine giving myself MORE sewing to do! That being said, this is a GOREGEOUS piece, it came out really good. Thank you for bearing the burden of this task so the rest of us don't have to o7
@@ComplicatedKnots True, depending on how you want to play the sewing-to-crochet game. I was imagining you just make your "fabric" out of crochet. That being said, bless you, take all the shortcuts you need you were already a plucked chicken by the time you got to the sewing part!
From the title, I thought this was going to be about clothes. I really love that you are trying this out. I hope you try it with clothes, too! (I’ll be watching for it)
I thought so too! I’ve often thought about crocheting a top from a sewing pattern to see if it would translate well. Maybe this video will push me to try it
Such a good idea. So many crochet clothes patterns are dull beyond the telling. Definitely worth a try. I have some yarn I have been struggling to find a pattern for that this might be the answer…..
That’s what I thought too. Though I am glad she chose a plushie as those are often more difficult imo (depending on what you’re sewing specifically). I may have to use this technique to make my own clothes though as it seems a lot more accessible to me than just cutting and sewing fabric ironically
"You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should" It's SO CUTE. I think Peaches will enjoy their new toy.
Always such a relief hearing far more experienced crocheters saying it's hard to tell the right and wrong sides apart! I swear, sometimes it feels like some sort of conspiracy or prank when a pattern refers to the right and wrong sides, especially when there are pictures of what, to my eyes, look absolutely identical! Thankfully, i figure if I can't tell as a crocheter, the average person probably can't tell, either, lol! This turned out SO stinkin' cute, and I do hope you try with a wearable, because this is such a fun idea and so interesting to see how things translate!
The vibes of assigning one material texture to another material shape are super Yoshi's Wooly World/Little Big Planet! Sewing seams like this on crochet feel innately wonky, charming, toylike: playfully illogical. I adore it.
I did not know there was such a designer out there. I did not know I needed to sew roughly 2/3 of their free pattern library. I'm a very beginner sewist. But having seen you try to crochet it I think I'll learn to sew. Thank you for testing the witch-fiber-craft for us !
Oh I love this. I have actually sewn up this t-rex by Choly Knight a few times and the teeth trip me up each time🤭. I would never have thought about creating it out of crochet, he came out so cute.
Such a great idea, and the results is really impressive. The stitches of seam adds character plus their real seam stitches. It’s like a new style of crochet. What sorcery is this?! It’s super cool, would be interested in future videos like this too. 😊❤
I love his teeth! It reminds me of a kid with an overbite who hasn’t got their braches yet. I was also wondering if you could “fake” those sharp lines with BLO or something. To kind of make “croched-fake-sowing-pattern”-creature.
This was a lot of fun! I'd love to see a wearable, I've thought about trying it myself a few times. I don't think it'll be dissimilar to sewing with a chunky knit fabric but will probably work best with a simple, looser, pattern without much shaping or it'll get bulky at the seams/darts etc. Larger pieces are always easier to sew together so I'm sure it'll be easier than the tiny adorable T-rex.
I’ve always had this thought too but never been brave enough to try it (which is silly because craft is about creating and experimenting) I’d really be keen to see how crocheting a clothing sewing pattern would turn out! Love this video because you actually took the risk and made the jump
No idea how you come up with these ideas, but you pulled it off again!!! Truly incredible, Kylie!!! Inspired. What a terrific episode of “Witchcraft accomplished”!!! Love! ☺️🥰🧶🦖
Wow the timing of this video is incredible, my friend just bought a sewing machine and I've been teaching him how to use it with the cholyknight patterns, but as a chronic yarn addict and crocheter I have been wondering how these sewing patterns would look in crochet form! You have answered my curiosity perfectly! What an adorable little guy
OMG! SUPER ADORABLE!!!! Only thoughts I had while you where working thru this is as follows: 1. You should follow nap lines to determine the direction of your stitches. If you look at the arms vs head the stitches will be different (like I think I also.saw on the body) as you followed two different directions. 2. Yes.... you should include the seam allowance to allow for a smoother join. Otherwise FANTASTIC JOB!
I really love the stitch work quality of it-- it makes something so unique. I think I'd want to lean into it, and make the stitches bright and obvious. It's just a delightful handmade vibe.
I’ve been meaning to test that theory for years now! Thank you for showing us that it is indeed possible !! I am now going to make all of Choly Knight’s patters 😆
This turned out super cute! As someone who sews I've often wondered the opposite: If you could sew a crochet pattern. With that I've concluded that the only way to do it is to use a photo of the finished pieces as reference to design sewn pieces based off of. It would be cool to see a sequel like that: Where you try to make something like this again but recreating the shapes with your normal crochet techniques.
currently i'm trying to crochet a sewing pattern for a pouch and oh boy i'm beyond struggling even though i picked an easy rectangular shape pattern, i'm honestly in awe of your ambition here.
I made this pattern a few years ago sewing a few dinos by machine, and I can say you definitely aren't the only one who had issues with the teeth! I end up trying a few different methods to get the teeth to sit in place properly and end up using a similar method as you but of course with double layered fabric. I also found that like you top stitching made the teeth sit nicer and helped to secure them in place. I do remember having to go in by hand to manipule the ends of the strip and tack it inside with hand stitching aswell. Hope this helps anyone who is wanting to try this pattern!
My brain turned this into "Can you crochet a knitting pattern" and would not let me read it otherwise and i was so confused why there was a sewing machine in the thumbnail
In german there is a saying about the longer thread debate that always made me seeth with rage whenever i was told it growing up and learning to craft/sew in schools or at home "Langes fädchen, faules mädchen" ugh just typing it! It means "long thread (cute form), lazy girl" It just played in my head over and over. Its so ingrained. And yet. I never stopped using a long pieve of yarn or whatever because you cant make me
Such a cool idea! the way he comes together reminds me of some "crocheted" items in video games where someone threw a crochet texture over a plushie that looks to be sewed together. Thanks for another great video :)
I've been thinking about this for over a year now. I'm sure there would be a HUGE calling for more of this type of pattern. As an amigurumi maker, I find it impossible to take my projects traveling without having them half completed. If they are made flat, they are great for traveling. I'm also a knitter, especially of teddy bears. I used to make them while waiting for my office to open. I would leave all the pieces attached to one another, and take a giant string home. I would then take them home, cut them apart, stuff, and assemble them at home. I would then put the teddies up for adoption on my desk. My office building ended up full of teddies!
I LOVE THIS! Also, I wonder if you went around the outside edge in single crochet before assembly if that would neaten it off? And yes now I have a very strong urge to make this out of felt. I also wonder have you looked at knit amigurumi patterns? They are often flat and have lots of sewing witchcraft involved and I think it would be interesting to see one of those in crochet. Again I absolutely love how this came out- especially the contrast yarn you used to stitch up with.
I’m had a very similar idea nagging me, so I’m working on designing a knitted version of a specific top design! Interesting to see this and the comments of other people with a similar line of thought!
i think perfecting the shapes of the pieces in crochet would make these with the sewing seams a very cool, collectable and marketable aesthetic and toy.
Love this, as I sew also, it opens up a whole new avenue of patterns! I think I would crochet it together, inside out, just leaving the head and accents to sew. Thank you 🙂
Oh my, I never knew the sea of cute sewing patterns. Her finished products look so insanely professional and cute, I might have a new hobby on my list. I say might, but I already ordered the plush fabric haha I might need to do a hobby giveaway with how many I have
Little tip if you want to do this again in the future, while you’re doing the freeform crochet parts, put a stitch marker anywhere you see a dart. That way you can still match everything up the way you would with the darts, but it’s removable for sewing!
This is awesome, despite the slight hiccup in the beginning and all the witchcraft, I say if ur looking for a challenge and have the time on ur hands this is worth doing
it came out so cute! id love to see what it would look like as say a sweater. i imagine it would be "easier" (not at all easy lol) since it would have bigger pieces and less small curves. i imagine it would be more forgiving in the end when sewing it together. great video! have a nice one!
the way that I have been wondering about this very thing!! I love crocheting wearables and I love a tailored look, but every time I find myself modifying patterns and unraveling rows over and over again to get the fit just right, I find myself thinking about taking up sewing instead lmao
I’ve been asking this question since I learned how to crochet (just last summer). Thanks for answering it! I would love to see you do this again but only if your up to it. Trauma such as this may never be recovered from😂
My first crochet project that made me learn crochet was a full outfit based on a World of Warcraft "trash" armor set. So I literally used pants and tank tops I already owned to know the shape. It looks terrible one me (I'm very overweight, mainly in my abdomen) BUT, it came out great! Sewing and crochet are not a bad combo.
This is absolute Insanity as far as efficiency of time use is concerned. I have to say he is super adorable like those vintage toys from the 40s and 50s. I think the contrasting green stitch on the head really enhances the aesthetic and it's super cute.
This scratches that impossible itch in my brain like I need to make every sewing pattern a crochet pattern 🤗
I have been resisting the urge to try this for ages! Felt so good to give it a go :)
@ComplicatedKnots I never knew if it could be done was too much of a scaredy cat to give it a go but I have a collection of sewing patterns to turn into crochet and knitted ones now! I'm super excited to try out a vintage Winnie-the-Pooh one I have 😄
Man am I glad I wasn't the only one thinking that every time I've ever looked at a SewDesuNe pattern
It's specifically her patterns that caused this!
"If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands." "OH no" hahaha It's midnight and I am delighted in this.
I think he's super cute!

I mean, technically we could crochet around the outside of the pieces to join them together, I was just taking a shortcut by sewing :)

good news! she did

"Witchcraft accomplished" 😆 The result is amazing ❤
I'm totally with you on rather untangling my yarn fifteen times than trying to get my yarn into my needle more than once!
This looks like the crochet toy patterns in the book my grandma gave me from the 1970’s. I am so grateful for the strides made in amigurumi design 😂
"Oh, nevermind, I fell in love with it."
Yep

That actually turned out really well! I'd be curious to see how a garment pattern would turn out.

That is so cute. Yes you can crochet a sewing pattern! I still think amigurumi is easier. I would love to see wearables from sewing patterns.
I'm obsessed with this little guy! ☺️ I really like the look of how he came out - i may have to try something like this!

haha wrote this too xD *german high five*
Ooh I can relate. In Finnish it’s called “laiskanlanka”, translates to “lazy one’s thread”.
Choly Knight is fantastic!! I've made a bunch of her plushies, crazy high quality sewing patterns.
Yes!! Cholyknight is underappreciated, so many cute free patterns ❤
I love this idea!!
It was strangely both more AND less fun than I make it look XD
I just got a bunch of fabric patterns to try this. You're the first person I've found that's asked this question
this is so cool, i’d buy a pattern like this if someone wrote it
I can't lie but I think your crochet version is so much cuter than the felt version!!!
Omg that worked out so good. So cute!

I'd love to see you try this with a garment! Larger pieces would be more forgiving, I think. Great video!
I'm with you on the long thread. I'll fight tangles all day before I have to rethread with shorter ones.

You r so funny with ur puns. I luv them. Luv ur stuff ❤
This was so interesting to watch
Thank you for sharing your trials ❤

I used a paper pattern to shape the sleeve cap of my Molly Weasley sweater with the frilly cuffs. It worked out great.
How adorable! Wonderful job
Ohhh myyy gawwwd I was literally just talking to my friend about this! Inspired even more to try now!
I love this! It looks like you could make the head into a little bag or purse
