I'm looking forward to the series. How much effort and time did it take? I'm sure it was done over time, but I'm curious about the amount of code, testing various cards and themes, and testing. Im both old and a rookie!!
Is it just one dashboard design that is adaptive to a device (tables, phone, or desktop), person ( you, your wife, ?), and location (tablet location)? It's the tradeoff of one versus many and complexity level.
Thanks for all your hard work.

Yeah, mine currently is just one dashboard that works well enough (for us) across mobile phones, tablets, and pc. Eventually I might make different ones for different devices, but I've got some more experimentation to do before I get there.
It was done over time, yes. As I learned more things, I implemented them, or as I added new items, I added them. The home audio setup took me probably 8 or 10 days just for that. Prior to that I was trying to use the built-in media player cards and they were just too confusing for my wife, and I didn't like them either, though I was less confused. They just didn't do what I wanted, the way I wanted.
The rest of the dashboard.. Man, I don't know. I clouding testing and learning and debugging and whatnot... I bet you several hundred hours, easily. As it is, I spend a hour or so a week tinkering with one thing or another. I keep a running list in my phone of ideas. I just jot them down as they come to me, and then later when I have time I work on implementing them.
Again, my goal though is to cut out all the testing and troubleshooting for you guys, so you can build a cool dashboard using the info I share in a fraction of the time. With the code in front of me, recreating this dashboard would only take some handful of hours, definitely less than a day.

Thanks, Jeff. Another rabbit hole to explore!! I'm retired, what else have I got to do!!
