This is actually a dish that is a very common side in South African cuisine and especially with various chicken dishes which is why it's so popular at Nandos.

I had no idea I've been cooking 'Nando's' rice for years. I thought it was my own recipe. I mean, literally - all ingredients and the process, identical to mine. Sometimes I exchange the peas for either corn or kidney beans, whatever I fancy.
Absolutely lovely video Rick, perhaps just one suggestion? If you know how to chop/dice an onion or pepper, save yourself 2:40 by skipping to the topic.👍
My favourite rice dish been making this over 23years still a favourite to make it more interesting you can add cubed chicken pieces to an amount of 2cups rice can add 800gr to a kilo of cubed chicken or chicken pieces cooked to your kind of style add a cup of fresh cream steam it with your rice and you will have an English biryani
nice fully explained video , no annoying nackground music thank god unlike most cooking vids , will be trying thia i think it would go great with sausags , or salad and chicken etc m
Looks delicious I'm going to try this. The only problem with me is I can't eat anything too spicy and I used to love spicy food but not now, as I have got older and a lot of Illnesses what else can I use in place of Chilli. Thank you for the recipe
Hi Chef, Thank you for sharing. My daughter is a big fan of Nando’s spicy rice. Can you please tell me what kind of rice to use? Risotto, paella, broken rice? what does Nando’s authentically use? 😮
How would you cook this in a rice cooker?? I use my Zojirushi for my rice as I love how it comes out perfect every time & tastes amazing; but I never tried adding veggies etc to it. Not even sure if I could/should?
Wee bit of safety advice for you mate when your cutting the white pith out of the red pepper, after you've removed the core. Always face the blade away from your other hand which is holding the pepper. Should your blade slip, even with light pressure, it's going to slide towards your other hand which is holding the pepper.
I am obsessed with rice I’m always trying a new recipe, always searching for that perfect one… this is pretty close!! Loved this!! Thank you! I could live in rice so keep ‘‘em coming!! Xoxo
I was surprised to see peas in this. In South Africa, where Nando's comes from, it's made with red and green peppers (capsicums), no peas. It's also not made with basmati rice. I guess they modified it for foreign markets.

Before Nando's made it, our parents and their parents were making it.. So yep which means the tradition continues. However, thank you for the video.
The music was nice and low and I really appreciate that; also it was not annoying. Fantastic vid!
Good cooking and nice music 🎶

Reduce the quantity of chilli drastically and use a mild variety ... use a veggie stock if vegetarian or vegan . All the best !

Hi there! I think you might be right, they have adapted it for us Brits.
Nsndos always steal local recipes and claim them as their own
@@chefrick247 I dunno about that. I’ve never seen it with peas in Nando’s. Only ever red and green paper and barely any onion if any.
@@chefrick247 i mean im in uk and i never saw pees inside of the rice
They use tastic here
So good looks simple
This looks fantastic I’ll be making this right now

Great job!!delicious i used tikitaka spices!greetings from Stockholm ❤️

Is that cumin or turmeric? Because turmeric gives the rice the yellow appearance, cumin would give it a darker appearance
