    fun fact: Hammer is the ONLY rap artist to ever get permission / clearance to sample a Prince song from prince himself

    • @DOTHERIGHTTHING1989
      @DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 6 лет назад +6

      Not true, Arrested Development's label payed 200 000 $ to keep the word ''Tennesse'' in the song.

      DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 you right my bad,but that is also AFTER they already used it and got caught..Prince usually turned down requests by rappers to sample his stuff nearly every time... Hammer is the only one I know that asked and got permission from Day one

    I feel bad for all the generations that didn't really experience the 80s and some of the 90s with Hammer,Michael Jackson,Prince in his finest years, Tupac, Easy E in NWA, Salt n Peppa, Too Short and the list goes on and on. To go back to my teen years would be amazing and the best time of my life hearing real artist when everything wasn't about putting women down and cussing in their songs. When rapping about real life and what their life was really like not just putting shit together because it rhymes.

      Hammer is dope in his own way but u can't even mention him in the same voice with Prince and Michael jackson.prince was a master musician of 20 instuments at age 12.he taught himself to not only play but also master 20 instruments at age 12 and that was just the beginning.at 15 he wrote,composed ,produced ,sang and played every instrument on his first album.he was a musical genius.he wrote songs for other artists also I mean its not enough room on this page to write down all his achievements.R.i.p. prime the most talented artist to ever touch a instrument or a Mic.michael Jackson at age 5 sang lead for the Jackson 5 the best boy band of all time.he went solo and his first album was a smash hit called off the wall .then he had epic albums to follow, bad,thriller,and other epic albums.mike is the best dancer and performer when he's on stage to me of all time .he also wrote songs and contributed to producing some if his albums himself.he is also a musical genius.i love hammer and his big heart and all the the things he achieved but he's not on prince or Michael Jackson's level but then again nobody is.those 2 brothers prince and Michael r on a level of musical genious that only those 2 brothers r on. R.i.P Michael Jackson also.

    Hammer needs no confirmation about how hard he worked, however, I 'worked' with Hammer in the Navy for a few months.
    He was just as wonderful then, as he is now.
    It's amazing for me to watch him here. He was funny, he danced and sang our shifts away.
    Said he was gonna make it in music and dancing. When I doubted him, he'd take me out to the parking lot, lift the trunk of his car and show me all the cassettes of music he'd made. Said he was selling them.
    Well Burrell, you sure made it!
    I'll admit, you are the coolest partner I ever had!

    Hammer is a "G"Gentleman! Brilliant choreographer. Phenomenal entertainment... but his originality, talent second to none, combined with humility... game changing hero! All while being an amazing father & devoted family man, and always giving back to help others. 💯🔥

    Best interview I have ever heard, it was informative, it brought out great stories, and private moments that has not been in any books I have read. The interviewers were top of the chain, very positive which is whats needed more and more nowadays. Wish I could have been at the Staple Center for his concert, I know it was off the hook, as Hammer does not half ass anything, especially when he was going to honor someone. His shows are legendary, so much energy and talent brought to the stage, its mind blowing just replaying it in your mind days after.

    Wow! What a great interview, I have always had nothing but love and respect for Hammer. A cool brother with a big heart, those were great stories he shared about Prince & MJ. Man I miss LA and miss listening to 93.5 KDAY. I remember way back when YoYo was a DJ there for awhile. But I use to clown you guys because you wouldn't give props to the original 1580 KDAY which was a Soul & RnB station that had been around for decades. And was the first Black radio station in the country to start playing Hip Hop on a regular basis. Which begat ultimately the KDAY known today. Crenshaw in da house!
