This man has been married to his wife Stephanie for 30 yrs. And they have 5 children Now that's an amazing accomplishment in addition to his musical success.
DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 you right my bad,but that is also AFTER they already used it and got caught..Prince usually turned down requests by rappers to sample his stuff nearly every time... Hammer is the only one I know that asked and got permission from Day one
I feel bad for all the generations that didn't really experience the 80s and some of the 90s with Hammer,Michael Jackson,Prince in his finest years, Tupac, Easy E in NWA, Salt n Peppa, Too Short and the list goes on and on. To go back to my teen years would be amazing and the best time of my life hearing real artist when everything wasn't about putting women down and cussing in their songs. When rapping about real life and what their life was really like not just putting shit together because it rhymes.
Yeah! Well said. Am so lucky grew up to 70's 80's 90's gen when all artists like MJ and the rest were all genuine talents. I wish we have time machine.
MC Hammer is an amazing resilient black man who never turned his back on his family. I love how his wife stood by him and supported him. Awesome examples in the black community. I would love to see him do more.
I have absolute and total M.A.D. respect for M.C. Hammer. Yes, he gave a lot and helped many but that sincerely shows the heart of THIS man! I love that he said "you can make money, but you can't make people." He said he doesn't regret ANYTHING he did...and this was the homerun he said...YOU CAN'T BE GOD GIVING! Signed: A M.C. Bridgette Gandy I got to see Hammer in concert right along with New Edition and Guy back in 1989 at the Thomas and Mack Center here in Las Vegas. Then again I got to meet him when I was a chef at McCarran airport here Las Vegas he came in the restaurant I worked in to grab a bite. Really nice guy by about my height my built friendly with anybody that approached his table.
Hammer is a incredible dancer. He is definitely way up there, with the best of them. I'll bet that they were referring to Janet in that discussion with MJ.
Despite Michael Jackson and Prince had their differences, I can see that they both went through similar circumstances in the music industry. The music industry tried to kill both their careers and succeeded in Michael and Prince deaths.
I paid for him, I lived and worked in Oakland, the only other rappers I paid to see, Beastie Boys opened for Run DMC, that would have been worth your money if you had a chance to see them for sure
I don't know if they were all friends but I do know Pac & Hammer were good friends and Pac wrote a song for Hammer but Hammer either didn't want it or wanted Pac to do it. Pac did his thang on that song( I had to find out the song, I forgot it). Also Master P and 2Pac were friends.
Man, Hammer gets talked down on a lot in popular culture. People just refer to him as "broke" for some reason. He's doing alright. He was a rare dude in this business, did right by his people, he was a real dude that had mad respect behind the scenes by rappers and street cats, and he's a good dude overall. I had the chance to meet this brother back in 2004 and he seemed really down to Earth. Props to Hammer for all time.
Facts!!! Hammer paid me well after I was directly in the group. Also, my SAG-AFTRA dues was "mysteriously" paid up from 1991 until 2012! Who does that?!?! BOSS/GOAT!
15:23 "The value of life is more important. You can make money -- you can't make people." -Please Hammer, don't hurt 'em!- Thank you, Hammer -- you helped them!
Take away his superstar status, Hammer will always have my respect just for being the kind of man that he is. There are not many like him in this world. And I wholeheartedly appreciate the fact that he always tried to keep it positive, despite coming from a negative environment. People called him corny for his positivity, but I still kept his tape in my Sony boombox.
I think that it is amazing that he calls Eazy- E his friend when Eazy- E was the main one in the media back then that claimed that Hammer was not hard. He still gave Eazy a job as his M.C.. God works in myserious ways!
Hammer and eazy e we're good friends they had the upmost respect for each other I have three cuzzi s who were part of hammers crew and I knew eazy personally his family is like my family they both had love for one another

R.i.P Michael Jackson also.
I had the pleasure of seeing an MC Hammer concert. He performed at our homecoming game at Temple U in Philly. The best concert I ever attended and I saw many MJ concerts but Hammer’s concert was high energy from beginning to end. MJ is still my favorite artist. He is a musical genius.
2 of the most super high energy artists Michael would almost put on a 2 and a 1/2 3 hour show so it could not be completely high energy but he would exert himself for sure until he passes out. Singing and dancing both of these guys you to rap and are singing and dancing as hard as you can. Phenomenal
I've been to 5 Hammer Concerts all front row. This brother shook the rap game up. Had rappers upset bc he danced and spit. And then he had groups and artist to follow through.
Hammer needs no confirmation about how hard he worked, however, I 'worked' with Hammer in the Navy for a few months. He was just as wonderful then, as he is now. It's amazing for me to watch him here. He was funny, he danced and sang our shifts away. Said he was gonna make it in music and dancing. When I doubted him, he'd take me out to the parking lot, lift the trunk of his car and show me all the cassettes of music he'd made. Said he was selling them. Well Burrell, you sure made it! I'll admit, you are the coolest partner I ever had! God Bless.
Hammer is a "G"Gentleman! Brilliant choreographer. Phenomenal entertainment... but his originality, talent second to none, combined with humility... game changing hero! All while being an amazing father & devoted family man, and always giving back to help others. 💯🔥
Best interview I have ever heard, it was informative, it brought out great stories, and private moments that has not been in any books I have read. The interviewers were top of the chain, very positive which is whats needed more and more nowadays. Wish I could have been at the Staple Center for his concert, I know it was off the hook, as Hammer does not half ass anything, especially when he was going to honor someone. You can feel the emotion from Hammer when he mentions the work prince done in oakland for businesses and the children , and he never spoke of it....MC Hammer is truly a special soul ... bless you
Wow! What a great interview, I have always had nothing but love and respect for Hammer. A cool brother with a big heart, those were great stories he shared about Prince & MJ. Man I miss LA and miss listening to 93.5 KDAY. I remember way back when YoYo was a DJ there for awhile. But I use to clown you guys because you wouldn't give props to the original 1580 KDAY which was a Soul & RnB station that had been around for decades. And was the first Black radio station in the country to start playing Hip Hop on a regular basis. Which begat ultimately the KDAY known today. Crenshaw in da house!
Nothing but good things to say about this man. Never met the man but one can easily determine that he is a good person. I have always admired his gift of dance. Damn this man can dance. Even at his age he can dance.

@@AtrEdits You don't know that.Stop being so pessimistic.
fun fact: Hammer is the ONLY rap artist to ever get permission / clearance to sample a Prince song from prince himself
Not true, Arrested Development's label payed 200 000 $ to keep the word ''Tennesse'' in the song.
DOTHERIGHTTHING1989 you right my bad,but that is also AFTER they already used it and got caught..Prince usually turned down requests by rappers to sample his stuff nearly every time... Hammer is the only one I know that asked and got permission from Day one
Maybe, but MC Lyte's "Paper Thin" sampled Prince's "17 Days"
Pop Life was sampled by Big Daddy Kane before Hammer's Pray
and Prince sent a cease usage to Kane label for it too..plus Im PRETTY SURE that PRAY was out before THE LOVER IN YOU(Kanes prince sample song)

Hell yeah 💯💯💯
Hammer is a incredible dancer. He is definitely way up there, with the best of them. I'll bet that they were referring to Janet in that discussion with MJ.
I was thinking that too! Can't think of any other woman out there at the time except Paula Abdul, but she choreographed for the Jacksons.
Paula Abdul
Maybe Paula Abdul
I just said that in my mind 😆
It was Madonna,MJ does not diss his sister..Michael did not like Madonna, besides Janet did not take lessons,Madonna did..

The FACT is that he DID NOT go broke. He still retain 7 MILLION dollars when he filed bankruptcy.
When those rumors started, I recall Hammer saying “I’m too smart to go broke.” I believed him.
