To everyone watching this, Dragon Shield redesigned their Cube Shells to fix the problems showcased in this video. I bought the new ones for my Jumpstart 2022 cube and they are absolutely perfect. Very affordable, at least in the USA, at $12 USD for a pack of 8. There's no longer obstructions within the packs that can catch or damage your cards. They're pre-built, easy to open and easy to take your cards out. They have a dedicated finger groove in the back of the shell to help you get a grip on your cards. It comfortably holds 20 single sleeved cards or 15 double sleeved cards.
If you want an alternative to Cubeamajigs, Dragon Shield Redesigned Cube Shells are absolutely worth it. The Redesigned Cube Shells look different from their initial designs so be sure that you order the redesign and not the ones shown in this video.

The snagging isn't really a big problem for single sleeves cards. I have my jumpstart cube in these dragonshield packs and the front card has caught a few times but just pushing it slightly towards the back of the pack it slides nicely into the pack. The size of them not fitting in certain deck boxes is a bit of pain depening on your storage though.

Here's the irony: The Dragon Shield Cube Shells aren't good for large sleeves... like Dragon Shields. Chances of snagging are considerably less when it comes to narrower sleeves like Eclipses.
So Dragon Shield managed to make a product that's... incompatible with their own sleeves.

It looks like it was last updated for Theros, Beyond Death, which makes sense, since that was the last set from before the pandemic. They don't really have a good way to work on the cube and I think they only make a certain number of them.
It's not too bad to get the list and just buy all of them though. You can get a pretty good deal still. I got it a while ago for an mtg club I lead, and then also, used all the cards I had and then just bought what I needed to have the same cube.

I have had issues returning Cubeamajigs.
About a year ago, I bought a lighter colored artwork and immediately noticed I could see the cards inside the boxes, defeating the whole idea of a random blind draft.
I complained to Cubeamajigs and they told me I can send them back as long as I haven't used/opened ANY of the ones I bought (which I obviously had to discover the problem) and return them with premium shipping and tracking at cost to me. Once they received them, they would only refund me the cost of the packs, no shipping costs though, and ONLY IF they determined they were still in pristine condition.

To be honest, I like the idea but find these impractical for drafting my cube. We just lay down randomized 15-card piles down in the middle of the table and pick up a pile as our "pack" as we go. Adding the shell looks nice, but just adds the extra steps of packing them, then immediately unpacking them as a pack is "opened". It's like they're just there to look pretty... without serving any actual purpose.
It's not like they help with shuffling the cube

Or as another alternative, make your own paper pack envelopes ("Packvelopes") for a DIY solution! 😉www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/jebsg4/packvelopes_do_it_some_more/
These patterns are sized to fit in any deckbox that holds sleeved cards, and the envelope wraps around the card stack, so any internal edges your cards aren't sliding past, so no worries of catching there. And they're relatively easy to DIY, so if you rip/wreck one, it's pretty easy to crank out a replacement.

My current cube has a bit of an advantage of being split into fives piles. Since I wanted to simulate drafting an Un-Set, there's a commons deck, an uncommons deck, a rares/mythics deck, a contraptions deck, and a lands deck. Commons and uncommons are a bit messy to shuffle though.
Still, wouldn't mind being able to pre-build packs.

Sort of a question for folks; has anyone checked the sizing on the new Digimon TCG cards? Been curious about getting some(provided I can find reasonable prices) but I'm not sure if they fit in your standard MtG sleeves/boxes/etc or not.

I purchased the Dragonshield Cube Shells for my cube, and the Professor's review is spot on. For reference, I keep a 360 card, single-sleeved cube with 30 of each basic land and numerous tokens/ double-faced cards. The shell material is durable and easy to open and close. Twenty-four shells comfortably fit in a single row of a Magic Carpet XL. Sleeved cards do catch slightly on the way in to a shell, and to minimize the risk of damage, I limit myself to no more than 15 single-sleeved cards in a pack. I never apply excess force to pack the cards; the catching surfaces seem to be on the flap side of the shell, so if I hold it nearly flat and gently shake side to side, the cards go in without hassle or damage. As a cube owner, you may have to warn your drafters about this or risk sleeve damage. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase, although I may circle back to another solution if the engineering improves over the years.

Sadly I thought they stopped making these and I needed another set of 8 for my "almost done" commander cube, So I bought a set that wasn't even the same color as the others for 35$. I hadn't noticed cards getting caught, but they probably will since its all double sleeved dragon shields. I have cubamajigs for a dominaria cube and I don't care for those, they just don't stay closed even though they look awesome. Knowing the dragon shield company they will probably (hopefully) come out with an improved version, like they did with their inner sleeves.

I don't normally disagree with the Professor, but sorry, in this case you just got it wrong this time. I've been using cube shells since they launched, and I have had no issue of the kind you described. I tested it with multiple sleeve types, and particularly tried all 20 cube shells that I currently own with Dragon Shield sleeves/Perfect Fit combo, and only 1 gave me any trouble of 15 at once. even that one i could 14/1 with no effort, marks, or resistance. The ridiculous shipping costs and price per on cubamajigs make these a very convenient and affordable alternative, and a very fine product unworthy of that assessment.

sorry unrelated, but Prof I take it you have seen the drama with mystical archive Crux of Fate and the stolen artwork there? I'd love to see a video from you about this!
Search the Wizards Fan Content Policy and how it self gives them authorization to use fanart however they please (marketing mostly, but marketing also translates in money), the lackluster Wizards response to this and how convenient "sharing fan content" ended up in this case.
It may also include artists drama history and how badly Wizards handles it, like the Terese thing and Autumn Burchet's gruul lands.

Again international (in-)availability strikes again! I really wanted to pick up some Cubamajigs after your first review of them, but alas they only ship single packs or bundles of 25, nothing in-between, meaning for more than a trial pack you hit massive customs fees (at least twice the amount of the bundle). Dragon Shield is EU based and also distributes in the US, so everyone can get them! Even if they are flawed, there is no alternative.

Hey Prof, you missed one thing with your review. You can lick the white ink off of the shell. I don’t know if it’s safe to eat, but I’m not thrilled.
How do I know this? I have a four-year-old who honestly should have known better.
I bought a full boat of these to stick a custom Jumpstart cube in a Quiver. That works well enough, and I honestly haven’t used the shells enough to see the sleeve damage. I’ll definitely give Cubeamajig a try.

oh no! this is such a pity... This looked exactly like the product I was looking for... A very small deck box in which I could just leave 17 basic lands so when I go drafting I already have all my lands sleeved and ready to play...

As a european and as someone who has not seen a Cubamajig in real life before, I've purchased several Dragon Shield Cube Shells. I think it is an awesome product and I would recommend it to friends. I do however recognize that I didn't realize the standard this product had to live up to. I don't know what I'm missing out on and I hope this review will make the next itteration of Cube Shells from Dragon Shield an itteration of higher quality. There is a LOT of room for improvement, I see that now. Great video Prof :)

One budget option I use for cube packs is Ultra Pro Team Bags. They’re simple resealable bags that easily fit large sleeves like Dragon Shields. IIRC they fit double sleeved cards as well (don’t remember how many, but I think it’s at least 15). Downsides include that they aren’t particularly durable to my knowledge and they’ll likely crinkle up and look like crap after a couple of drafts. That’s okay for me since they’re sold in packs of 100 or so, and my policy is to use them until they either break, get too dirty to reseal well, or just look particularly crappy, then simply replace them.

Do Cubeamajigs fit inside of a UG Boulder? I actually bought a set of the DS Cube Shells a couple of months ago hoping to use them as sideboard packs in my Modern deck Boulders, but was very sad when they didn't fit :( I have since found a use for them, so it wasn't a total loss.

Hey prof, in the video you used 15 double sleeved cards for the pack. Do you think there is the possibility for damage if I intend to do 15 single sleeved cards? My thoughts are that the reduced size will avoid the catching?? What do you think?

I really don't get this product for cube... If stored in packs lite this it just makes shuffling the cube up very hard.
Say you are drafting with only 60% of the cards in the cube once time and the next time you use 80% of the cards. Then how are these helpful?

Okay but how does this product solve the problem of having to shuffle and make your own packs? You are still doing it? You just now have a smaller box to put the packs i now..
Im not gunna use this box in an active draft because they're being looked at and passed around constantly. And to make packs, I still have the problem of shuffling and making packs, so this has very little use in my opinion.

Does anybody else like doing a Winston draft for cube drafts? This doesn't require you to seperate out "packs" though I imagine it could take a while to distribute cards with a large group. Works great for 2-4 players though!

As others have noted, as a European cubeamajigs is an immediate hard pass due to shipping costs. Might get Dragon Shields or wait for their next version. For cube I'm happy enough with my ghetto solution, and it's not like I'm gonna get to cube with anyone for months...

Someone should review dragon sheild clears both matte and classic and nest 100 but in comparison to other deck boxes because I think the aquardness of its size is overlooked because of its quality, design and niche-abilitie (yeah talking about the force required to open this) 😭 😭

This make me wonder if my 360 card cube would just be better off with 8 small Ultrapro deck boxes that get repacked with 45 random cards each time. That way people would be less likely to misplace cards and also to have a deckbox for when the games start.

Bought these and never actually tried to see if they worked with 15 double sleeved cards, can confirm the issue really is a big deal. I would absolutely *not* attempt to use these with any double sleeved cube. However, I will say that they work perfectly fine with 15 single sleeved cards, no catches, no problems at all. I'm stuck with the ones I have, but at least they are still 100% useable for my single sleeved set cubes at home.

Does the prof have a deal with dragonshield?
Not saying this to be snide, I'm a very big fan of the show. I know he favors dragonshield products mostly, and certainly they deserve it. But when a product even has the chance of harming cards or denting sleeves I thought the prof would immediately deem it an F. He reserves the failing grade for products so inept that they ruin rather than protect. But why then does the dragonsheild cube sleeves get a D when they reliably ruin cards/sleeves?
    Honestly struck me as strange.

My cubamajigs are perfect. They are really nice plastic, great art. I got a pack of 36 and one had a manufacturer defect, they mailed me a few extra ones, very dedicated company. When I got them, they emailed me to make sure I got the box and I just mentioned it, I didn't even ask for a replacement.
