I love how Ellen has flashbacks to events she didn't witness.
That makes it funnier 🤣
What do you mean...didn't you realize by that point in the movie that Ellen has supernatural powers? She can sense the shark at various times, she knew how and where to find the shark in that vast ocean! She's clearly a mutant.
It’s the psychic connection.
It's called Secondary PTSD/Trauma. Anyone who recounts a trauma to another person risks traumatising them. A therapist can get secondary trauma just off hearing someone talk about it. You can get it from reading a news article. Flashbacks and nightmares are symptoms of secondary trauma.

@kgmc29 It's a kid's show that ran from the 40s to the 60s, so they're probably much further from being a child than you not to mention Tom and Jerry was one of, if not the first, use of that sound effect.

If you shock a shark with a flashlight, it will roar and levitate. And then if you hit it with a boat, it will explode.

I have no idea. The sequels were bad, but they at least had a reason for why the shark blew up. They didn't just spontaneously combust.

It didn't explode in the theatrical release, but they decided the ending needed more pizazz, so they edited in the explosion for the video release.

Jake not only escaped from being inside the shark's mouth but managed to swim as fast as the yacht to be in the same place it sank several minutes later. Jake is basically Aquaman.

I remember doing the Universal Studios tour in the 80’s and we passed that very fake background with the water tank! The guide told us that it was for Jaws 4. I have a photo somewhere.

Jake is lucky to be alive after the shark had taken him down a little earlier. Nearly everyone else in the franchise who gets attacked by a shark perishes. I wonder if Jake succumbs to his wounds later on that we didn't see. His wounds looked quite serious. He would need to get to a hospital really quickly to survive.
I give Jaws: The Revenge a 7.8 out of 10.0. I love this film more than just about anyone else.

@@Eleina1951 Yeah, but even within a fictional story, there has to be some "grounding" and internal logic. While the behavior of the shark in the original Jaws movie is somewhat exaggerated, it still has to adhere to the basic characteristics of how a real life shark would act. Sharks don't even have vocal chords, so how can it roar?

The theatrical ending had the shark getting in paled and bleed to death and sinks to the bottom of the ocean with the boat
Depended on the region if memory serves me correctly, some got this ending, some didn’t.
Awful execution either way, but at least that one was a bit more original. The problem is the shark moves so slowly in this film, that the mere idea of it being pierced at that speed is laughable.

While there are a few things to like about this movie it is definitely the one in the Jaws franchise with the screwiest content! Michael Cain didn't like it much and it's pretty certain that Lorraine Gary would have been far happier with her role of Ellen in the original movie!!!!

Yes. This one where the shark explodes for no reason, and a more "realistic" one where it gets stabbed by the boat and just dies.

It's widely referenced as being from a Tom and Jerry episode in 1946. However, it was used in a few other cartoons in the 40's, as well. I remember that being Spot's roar from The Munsters tv show. Spot was the Munsters pet dragon. Hard to rewatch those old episodes now and not think of this movie lol.

it was in my theater "California at the time" , but over seas they got just the impaling. VHS used the USA version, and gave you both Roar and Kaboom lol.

I'm sick of THIS. Bruce the shark roars TWICE in JAWS 1975. Once on a closeup at the front of the ORCA after being shot with a dart on the right side of dorsal fin (a vocal reaction of pain and fustration) and once from further away just BEFORE getting shot with dart in the lower jaw (a vocal intimidation). Get over it people. Speilberg thinks Sharks have vocal chords.
