In this episode, we will understand what is PLC ladder programming
PLC is a logic controller which has inputs and outputs to control a particular process. The relation between these inputs and outputs is established via a control logic. This control logic can be written using different programming languages. One of the most common and easier to understand language is the ladder programming. Check the video to know why the language is called ladder programming.
This video further discusses what are NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) contacts and how they can be used in control logic to achieve a specific task. These programming blocks are explained using animations and example. The logic for AND gate is developed using these contacts. The further videos in this series will also cover more examples on developing logics using NO and NC contacts.

One suggestion to avoid confusion ,NO and NC terms are supposed to be used to indicate initial or normal condition ,if actuated/pressed NO contact become closed and same should not be called NC , similarly NC contact opens not to be called NO.
Agreed!! Great video but that part confused me. Thanks for pointing it out
In electrical switches and switchgear NO or NC means that state of switching element position before applying electrical or mechanical energy on it.
I also thought this was stupid. NO doesn't change to NC when pressed, it simply changes to C.
No not the same as motor control its values or true or false. Its opposite to what you would think
@@nephilimshammer9567 this guy is right..... programmable logic controllers only think in true and false, and they are advanced and simple at the same time.... if you plug NC or NO contacts from a normal relay into a PLC, it doesn't recognize it as "normally open or normally closed" unless you tell it to, via the True and False logic.
Very nice video; HOWEVER, a rather IMPORTANT point of clarification needs to be made. A device (such as a pushbutton or PB) that is Normally Open (NO) DOES NOT become Normally Closed (NC) when it is pushed. The NORMAL state of a device is its SHELF (i.e. out of circuit) state. Hence, the contacts of an NCPB will indeed CLOSE when the button is pushed; however, its NORMAL state (i.e. when NOT pushed) has not changed.
We completely agree with the points you have presented. A physical device manufactured as a NO type can never become an NC device. A lot of viewers have been confused with this point even though we never intended it. To bring more clarity on this concept, we are preparing next video on the same topic and differentiating between actual physical input (push button) and logical input (ladder blocks)

QUESTION
In a corridor there are four switches and three bulbs. when a man enters from one side of the corridor and presses switch 1,bulb 1 gets on when the man presses switch 2,bulb 2 gets on and bulb 1 gets off. When the man presses switch 3,bulb 3 gets on and bulb 2 gets off. When the man presses switch 4,bulb 3 gets off. The same thing can happen if at any instance a man enters from any side the 3 bulbs. Write a PLC ladder logic.
hello. Thank you for this. I am searching for this very understandable tutorial bro. I find it good . Thanks a lot!
Holy saaamokes! This the best tutorial ever on basic PLC ladder programming, thanks for posting!
P
you tried well, but its too confusing for a simple concept

thank you soo much for making your content crystal clear. I think this is a place where we get rid of stress that we take from complicated university classes.
Good explanation in this video thanks for sharing
PLC ladder logic has nothing to do with NC and NO
Liked and subbed 😂😂
your 5 minutes video was waaaay easy to understand then our teacher who’s paid 54$ per hr 🤷🏻
Hi, I really like your videos. Can you these Ladder diagrams in Bosch Rexroth Software too?It would be a big favor for me
Thank You
At time 2.42 you are speaking that NO contact becomes NC when switch is pressed. This is wrong. Technically NO will be energized Closed when switch is pressed. and NC will be energised open when switch is actuated.
when input is not energized, NC contacts' state and NO contacts' state will be unchanged
Very understanding tutorial👍😭
Can U explain Ladder diagram For to 2 way railway Gate Control at a Time By Automatic Mode

Can u please explain about dol and star delta starter ladder diagram
Brother don't mind but if see a switch with NO and NC never a NO becomes NC if the switch is open then it is in NO, if the switch is closed then it is in NC but never a NO becomes NC only metal contact which is inside the switch changes I hope you understand but don't take it in a negative way...
We totally agree with what you said. The physical NO switch can never become NC and vice versa, it's only their internal contacts that change
Why not bro ,what exactly means NO means wo triggering with trigger force it becomes Nc it's basic
Very well defined. Most Electricians (Not dissing Electrical guys) do not know digital logic. Let alone boolean algebra. But this is the basis upon which the PLC processor works. It is , a microprocessor ( maybe soon a FPGA) that is handling the inputs, outputs and control logic.

👍👍👍❤️❤️ super explanation
Its actually examine on or examine off that statement can be confusing
Should just say no or nc. It isn’t necessary to even call them XIO or XIC o
@@joew4202 no because it could be either way no or nc and be a true statement
@@davidwhite5045 im in school right now and we always just say normally open or normally closed operand. we rarely say XIO or XIC

Hello, The above are the just basics of electronics, Please tell me how to start the program. What basic inputs are required to start the ladder logic? Normally everyone starts with NO/NC contact. No one tells us first of all control philosophy required before starting the ladder logic.
Hi, we felt it's always better to start with basics. We will be following these videos with more advanced topics and programs as well. Stay tuned for more videos. If you are interested you can check the pinned comment on this video. It has a link for the PLC course that we have created.
is there any possiblity > the plc process resumes ''''automatically'''', without any manually switching input on , after power supply resumes ??

ok Sir and thank you for this information
good, do you have in structured text ?
You’re doing your audience a disservice using NC and NO as instructions. A lot in here to confuse your audience.
Good evening! Forgive me if I am wrong but I have found some things that hinder my understanding of the terms NO/NC physical contacts and MAKE/BRAKE XIO/XIC internal PLC logical contacts.
First, i tend to believe that a circuit is activated when there is some action (pressing a physical button or contact by the user or when the physical relay coil is energised and therefore magnetizes the contacts.
Second, i tend to consider the user physical switches and the logical internal contacts of the PLC program as contacts of one state, because that way the brain thinks more simply, while they are two states by definition (double throw). So even in the case of non-activation by the user or PLC program there may be an active circuit/load.
With the terms NO/NC I personally like to refer to the user physical buttons or contacts while with the terms XIC/XIO, MAKE/BREAK the logical contacts inside the PLC program that are activated by the user.
To what extent am I correct in my words? Thanks!
Great effort thanks 👍
Great pictures. But in PLC there is no NO and NC. There is "Examine" if Open and "Examine" if Closed. And the pictures are the opposite.
Hello sir I’m looking for Electrical Substation Automation corse where I can find it ? Thank you in advance ❤
Boss NO contact turns in to NC is not correct statement, as NO contact get closed not normally closed, similarly NC contact gets open, not normally open.
In PLC program NO and NC term is not used rather XIC i.e examine if close, and XIO i.e examine if open term is used.

I was taught never to think of these as NC or NO,rather think of them as go look for a 1 or go look for a 0…I never understood why, and the person giving the advice never mention the reason. Can someone please answer this question for me? Thanks in advance.😊
Thank you so much. Your explanation is very very clear.

excuse me could you explain to me how can I connect more than one digital sensor on the same outlet in ladder
Good tutorials. Watching from Bangladesh

It is not a practicle example. There is nothing like NO and NC. Don't confuse the viewers. Simply say that one checks if input is there or not. Same pushbutton can be used in -| |- (check for 1) and -|/|- (check for 0) both logic.
Correct
Has he say if 2 NC is open offter push button is closed ,the 2 NC s become closed. I am right
Why not open a thread on this and train us better.
