    あたたかい is really a tongue twister... no, brain screw. Not to mention it has 2 kanji 温かい and 暖かい, and the wording of 'to warm' (an object) it becomes あたためる while 'to warm' (oneself) it becomes あたたまる. I always slipped trying to say those words...

    This channel is an absolute blessing!! I cant thank you enough for your hard work! I’ve never seen grammar points explained so thoroughly, and it is the real deal. No unnatural stern speech that textbooks like to teach either. I love your method of quizzing at the end and your explanations are concise, clear, and to the point. These are great because once you have internalized the grammar points you can start learning and plugging in new vocabulary.

    みく先生、「なってきた」 と「なっている」 は違いますか? Why don't we say, 「眠くなっている」 when we say "I am getting sleepy"?

    • @mikurealjapanese
      @mikurealjapanese  4 года назад +13

      great question! So we don't really use なっている when we say "I'm getting/ It's getting" If you translate なっている into English It would be "I'm being sleepy" And you never say that in Japanese, even in English. You would say "I'm sleepy" ねむい。So ている is used to talk about an action that is going on now and also the habit and the state like I'm married けっこんしている。 But when you want to say "IT'S GETTING ADJECTIVE " It's なってきた。

    I recently started learning Japanese and have very little in the way of vocabulary. My biggest frustration in learning vocabulary is not being able to form basic sentences and use what i learn. However, after watching your videos, I have learned that speaking Japanese is a lot more different than i had first thought and that the foundation of a sentence is not what it is in English. I'm still trying to grasp sentence structure but find your videos amazingly helpful in learning that. Thank you for all that you do and keep up the good work.

      Focus on the particles 「は、が、に、へ、の、と、を、ect.」and on verb conjugation (-masu form, -te form, past tense, potential form, etc.).
      "Tae kim's guide to grammar" can also be a helpful free resource.
      Keep practicing, it will eventually become easier.

      In case it helps for future memorization: Our teacher at uni told us that よい is the japanese word for good but with time people started to say いい instead but you can't change the form of いい that well. So everytime you have to conjugate いい, you conjugate よい instead and you will see that よい conjugate as fine as all other い-adjectives.

    Maybe this is a little bit advanced (or not I don't know) but a video explaining として would be interesting. I know most of the times it works as "In the role of", for example in 親として息子が遅いまで遊ばせない (IDK if my grammar is correct tho hahah). But I encounter として a lot in scenarios where it doesn't make sense to give it the meaning of (in the role of)
    For example this is the definition of 趣味: 仕事・職業としてでなく、個人が楽しみとしてしている事柄。There are 2 として in there that I don't really know what they mean.

    • @foxkit69
      @foxkit69 Год назад

      趣味: 仕事・職業としてでなく、個人が楽しみとしてしている事柄
      Hobby: Things such AS those an individual is looking forward to, NOT AS a job/profession
      Means "as." としてではなく is the negated adverbial form of として.
      日本語話者として、この文法は大切になりますでしょうよ。
