Good idea to use a handheld weighting scale to check torque wrench setting. Wow! I'm learning alot watching your videos on this engine repair. Thank you :)
So glad you are gaining knowledge from our videos. Im not 100% sure which is more accurate, a cheap harbor freight torque wrench or the scale but it seemed to have worked out. Ill let you know if we ever get a better wrench that is calibrated and see if the bolts are in spec.
Nice Job guys, very through. I have a 2gm in my H30 and have been really impressed with your attention to detail on the rebuild.
Thank you so much Dane. Have you had to do some major work on yours too?
@@WildlyIntrepid new purchase, should be launching very soon. Luckily after 6 years on the hard, it still starts and runs like a champ after doing all the routine maintenance.
Awesome. Glad it runs fine. Enjoy the new sailing season with it. And Hunters are fun to sail.
What is the name of the engine type, bro?
Thank you so much! I also have a Yanmar 2gm 20f. I’m working on mine now and your video is a huge help.
You're welcome Charlie. What are you doing on your engine?
@@WildlyIntrepid cleaning out the heat exchanger and then the mixing elbow. Also re-adjusting the valves.
I'm sure the engine is going to run smoother after. Best of luck
I enjoyed thanks for taking the time out for sharing
Happy to hear you enjoyed it
Enjoying the rebuild!!!!!!
Awesome
Oh my gosh guys! Start it already. You have done a great job and I couldn’t have never done this. Even with RUclips, google and all that. Y’all are awesome. Thanks for taking me along. Les, Lake Palestine TX.
Thursday will be the day. Thank you so much Les. It's surprising the things you can do when left with no other option.
Getting there little by little great learning video and experience for you guys know everything about engines now. Can't wait until Thursday video😘⛵😍❤💓💓💓💓👶
Oh yes it was quite the learning experience
Good job guys...Trev
Cheers Trev
Awesome guys!
Thanks
Thank you. About to do this to my 3gmd
Best of luck hopefully it all goes smooth
@@WildlyIntrepid yeah I still have a old dinosaur engine. One of my buddies in St Augustine has a fully electric converted Pearson 530. We commissioned it Saturday.
Nice. That sounds like a fun project. We are crossing the gulf tomorrow and should be in st Augustine in 36 to 48 hours depending on current
@@WildlyIntrepid safe travels!
I’ll have to do mine as well. I got some antifreeze on the oil. But mine 2gm has a heat exchanger, which complicates a little more
Just one more part to learn but with a little time and research It should be doable.
Yay first again. , South Australia
On fire
By oiling the head bolts you over torque the bolts. Torque specs are determined on dry bolts.
This is likely true. We learnt about this afterwards. our torque wrench and scale I used to "calibrate" it were not very accurate as well. But it is still running fine and have had no issues. Thanks for the info.
A sincere thanks for your outstanding engine videos (and the Gazelle I just found). Your inherent knowledge and proper use of term belie your humble presentation. I’m doing a 3HM30 and was inspired by your step by step instructions.
Looking forward to enjoying more of your videos 😎⛵️🍹
Wow thank you so much this means a lot to us. Glad we could inspire you. Enjoy the videos.
Hi, in the Yanmar manual he say to apply "Three Bond 50 gasket scaler to both sides of a new cylinder head gasket". But i don't understand how and where. Do you have apply this silicon element on both sides of a new cylinder head? Thank you. I'm going crazy about it!
No we didn't use that. Just the head gasket. But we didn't see anything in our manual about it. Maybe we missed it.
Tease!!!! If we don't have liftoff next video there could be a mutiny.
Wait until Thursday. We wanted to do a few little bonus videos describing in more details what went into the rebuild for the ones intetested
👍👍👍
Hi,
Do you know what the valve clearances are please, for the exhaust and the inlet? Are they the same size or different size. I'm doing mine now as part of the service. Someone said its 0.22mm for all of them?
Thanks Lee.
unfortunately we are not at our boat for a couple months and therefore we dont have access to our manual. but I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.
@@WildlyIntrepid its OK all sorted now, via the power of several sailing groups on Facebook 😎😎😎
Great we're super happy that you found the info. So many great resources out there.
👍!!!
