I got married to a foreign exchange student. We just went to city hall! But then his family threw us a wedding (more like they threw it for themselves) when we visited them overseas the next year. I didn't have to do anything, but it was weird. The wedding dress looked like a bad prom dress and was a very light pastel orange, and the dj just had to play an English breakup song, even though I spoke up about it to my partner during the rehearsal. Not like they understood the lyrics anyway. Only I did. 😥 And then his dad made up a speech for my dad, who wasn't even there because of the trip cost, and included idioms in their own language. That was pretty funny to find out about. 😅
