Especially when I am streaming from my QNAP Nas I need that steaming speed. Ended up binning my FireStick and getting the AppleTV that instantly streams via the built in ethernet port.
Maximum speed using any USB adapter is 450Mbps because of USB limitations. Real reason you want a wired connection is because WiFi routers will randomly drop WiFi devices whenever their cache fills up or there's too much chatter because of data loss. WiFi typically loses a third of the data which can create a backlog of data requests
I think Firestick 4K (+ even 4K max) is usb 2.0 protocol. The max theoretical bandwidth of USB 2.0is 480Mbs. So full gigabit is never possible, but 200Mbs+ is excellent and will cope with 4K content w/o buffering issues.
For anyone who's firestick won't recognise the ethernet connection. Turn WiFi off / forget it on the firestick and (as silly as it sounds) wiggle the cable where ethernet connection meets the otg cable. This worked for me
I have it all connected through the UGREEN adapter, but when I go to the Network, I do not see Ethernet or Wired connection. Is it possible that it's the age of my Firestick? Should I remove my wi-fi?

I purchased the single gigabit UGREEN ethernet adapter and tried to use it with an OTG cable to the Firestick but it would not work, the firestick power cord doesn't seem to supply enough power to the single UGREEN adapter to illuminate the lights on the ethernet port (the green light briefly lights up then turns off), but if I plug the UGREEN's USB connector into my computer both the orange & green lights stay on. I see the UGREEN adapter Troy is using here in his video but my question is how does this one differ from the one I purchased? Thanks in advanced for your help!
@@makavelli187dy Thanks for your comment. I ended up getting the gigabit ethernet connector featured in this video, and I am getting speeds of 450Mbs since I have fiber ethernet at 500Mbs. It works great, and there is no buffering.

Hey Troy, any OTG adapters that have a usb c rather than a usb a. I’m using one for my firestick, I bought a gigabit ethernet adapter but it’s a usb c.
Hi Troy on another matter. I installed mx and VLC as external players on my firestick 4k max for the beetv and cinema hd app. However both always default to German audio track, even if I change it to English, it automatically reverts to German. Any thoughts on a solution I may implement ?
Hi Troy, thanks for the video. I just received the green adapter.... After adding an otg 3 way, I got it to work. I'm getting 200+ mps now, which is great! But what about powering the ugreen adapter? Mine has a USB c port for power (in only) So, initially I powered the ugreen stick with a regular power brick and usb c cable... And used a simple adapter (USB a to micro)... This didn't work at all, Black screen. Can you tell me why that is? Thanks again.

If you're currently using WiFi and you have a way to plug in an Ethernet cable, you will probably see a increase. But, I also want to mention that adding an additional 200 Mbps to your download isn't going to help with anything. As I mention in the video, you only need 20 to stream 4K.
I just got the new 2023 4k max, and just updated to giga internet, why am I limited to 400mbps when I have a faster connection, if I want to stream a 105gb file would it be sufficient enough to not start to buffer

Why is my speed test (59Mbps DL and 75Mbps UL) so low while connected to IP Vanish using this Ethernet option? If I disconnect IP Vanish my speeds are 304Mbps DL and 291Mbps UL. Thank you
All VPNs will reduce speed. Shouldn't be that much though. Try changing server you are connecting to in IPV. Also, 60 Mbps will still stream 4K content. Actually anything higher isn't going to help you with anything and it's overkill.

Turning off Surfshark I get close to 800 Mbps. Prior configuration was WiFi and throughput was about 120 Mbps. Any suggestions for further fine-tuning?
Hello, I wouldn't worry about anymore fine tuning. As I say in my video, all you need is 20 to stream 4K and anything more than that is overkill and won't do anything for you. The only way that the extra speed would help is if you are downloading huge files from the Internet on your streaming device and maybe you are.

Was wondering if anyone has looked into using a Firestick hooked up to a wireless HDMI transmitter. If WiFi strength is marginal due to a distant router location, a Firestick with an attached wireless hdmi transmitter can be located closer (or directly wired per your video) to the router, so as to vastly improve wifi strength.
I don't think it will make any difference as far as streaming goes because we are talking about different types of data transfer.. Audio/Visual/ Internet data packets . All a wireless HDMI adapter would do would eliminate the need for the HDMI connection.
All VPNs decrease speed and it's especially noticeable on streaming devices with lower CPU power. You won't see this much decrease on PC with better processor. 86 is still more than enough even to stream 8K. As I say in the video, higher download speed isn't going to help you stream better. If you are downloading media then yes, it will be faster but 86 Mbps will provide more than you will ever need.
