Very clearly explained Tanya. Ethernet wins hands down every time if your set up permits. One thing to highlight between the adapters is that the Amazon adapter restricts your internet speeds to 100 Mbps. So if your package gives you, say, 250 Mbps then you’re better going for a 3rd party adapter
Thanks Tanya for making those distinctions in a very clear and concise way. I like it a lot because it has solved the constant Internet problem I used to have with my fire tv stick. Congrats!
Hello Tanya. I'm currently using a 1000MB ethernet adapter. The Firestick adapter maxes out at 100 mps. In a perfect world we would always want to use the Wi-Fi instead of the ethernet if only because that allows us to communicate with the fire stick with other devices that are already on our Wi-Fi network such as our phones or tablets. As always, great review. Keep up the good work.
I recently got Sky Fibre "Ultrafast" (150Mbs) installed and was not happy with the speed i got (90Mbs max tested on my TV connected via ethernet cable) after watching your Video i disconnected the Ethernet cable and tested my speed again (this time over Wifi) and Surprise Surprise the speed was 145Mbs !!!! So it was the Ugreen adapter not my Provider !! Thanks for the tip
Depends on how many people are using the internet and what they are using it for? I have 60mbps up and 14mbps down which is good enough for a family of 3 streaming/gaming. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Hello, Tanya. I have one of those official Amazon Ethernet adapters, and it slowed my speed way down. Without the ethernet adapter hooked up, my single strength is almost at 400Mbps. But, with the Amazon Ethernet adapter hooked up, it slowed my speed way down to 93 Mbps. I think that I am going to keep using my Wi-Fi signal instead from now on
I am not sure if I mentioned it in this video but the Amazon ethernet adapter is capped at 100Mbps. If you have faster Wi-Fi speeds than this, connecting via Wi-Fi is a better option. Or you can purchase an aftermarket adapter that is capable of 1000Mbps. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
interesting video, one quick question,.. once either adapter is connected to the tv and firestick,.. the conexión of the ethernet adapter is automatic correct,.. no manual changes need it to go from wireless to wire connection??
Hi, Tanya. Thank you for that informative video on the ethernet connectivity for the FireTVStick. I recently got a firestick as a gift, and am seriously considering the ethernet adapter for it, as the wifi can be a bit slow at times. Is there any brand you recommend?
This one is pretty good: UGREEN Ethernet Adapter Amazon US - amzn.to/3gN5HQV Amazon UK - amzn.to/3nDCA3V As it is also a USB hub, it allows you to connect peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, storage, etc.. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
I already have a direct ethernet connection on my Smart TV. Will I also need to connect one to my FireStick? That would be 2 ethernet connections going to that TV on different ports. Thanks!
Yes. If you want to connect your Firestick via ethernet, you will need another ethernet connection to your Firestick. However, if you have decent Wi-Fi it is not necessary to connect via ethernet. Perhaps try a speed test? Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
I tried using the ugreen hub with the OG cable and it didnt work for me. I have the modem and ethernet hooked up to my desktop and have been getting speeds at 120 mgbt. I will next attempt the amazon official adaptor. Most apps dont cause me to buffer on my wi-fi firestick but some 3rd party apps do. So I dont know if the adaptor will work for me but will give it a shot.
Tanya How do i connect a Ethernet adapter and a external hard drive to my Fire Stick so I can record my streaming TV. I have watched your video on recording with Fire Stick. Do you know of a cable that will allow me to hook them both up to the Fire Stick. Thanks Johnnie
Hi Tanya, had buffering issues with Wi-Fi,despite the router being under the TV,I got the Amazon Ethernet connecter, the setup limited me to 10/100 mags per second, despite having downloads on my router of 500mgs per second, still had buffering issues,I always put my Firestick to deep sleep when turning off the TV as well,as a way to try to stop buffering,I left my Firestick on all the time, but turned off the TV,this seems to have improved matters a lot, after 20 minutes of inactivity the Firestick will go to sleep mode anyway,Just a word about using a VPN with a wired set up,the VPN will slow your wired system down,so you can’t use a VPN with a wired network
Wi-Fi will never be better than ethernet as you will always have some type of interference. Wired is the best solution if you can. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️

Curious what would running a vpn do to the speed itself. I wifi connect at 300mb currently and when running vpn, it cuts the speed by nearly half. Have you tried this test while vpn is running?
Yes I have and reduced speeds are normal. It is likely that your internet connection will be slightly slower when you are connected to a VPN server and there are a number of factors that can impact the overall speed of your VPN connection • Including the load on the server you are connected to • If you are using a free VPN, you will get slower speeds than with paid VPN's. • The distance between you and the server you are connected to which is why it’s always best to connect to whatever server location is closest to you • The speed of your original internet connection • And some ISP providers will intentionally throttle VPN connections or your entire connection if you are using a lot of bandwidth If you decide you want to look into other paid VPN’s, here are some great ones: 🔒 Latest VPN Deals 🔒 ✔️ CyberGhost - cyberghostvpn.com/FireTVSticks ✔️ ExpressVPN - tiny.cc/expressvpn ✔️ IPVanish - tiny.cc/ip-vanish ✔️ NordVPN - tiny.cc/nord-vpn ✔️ ProtonVPN - tiny.cc/proton-vpn ✔️ Surfshark - surfshark.deals/FIRETV Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️

If you plug ethernet into your TV, the TV will use the ethernet connection. As the ethernet is not connected directly to the Firestick, it will use Wi-Fi.
Is this happening after the software update to the new version? Have you tried restarting your Firestick and your router? You should also do a re-set of your router on a monthly basis. As you might already know with a pc or other electronic device, most crashes or bugs can be fixed with a simple re-boot. Just un-plug it from the mains, wait 30 seconds & plug it back in. This really can make a big difference. It is important to wait those 30 seconds because you may have noticed that sometimes when unplugging an electrical item, the power light stays on for a few seconds. This is because most items have tiny batteries that store just enough energy to keep a memory chip running for a few seconds. Waiting 30 seconds just gives it time to make sure the battery is drained & fully discharged, ensuring all bits of memory are cleared & ensures that all settings are re-set. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
