I also love the fact that you don't have to buy background or sashing in this pattern, just use the layer cake fabric for the beautiful quilt!!! Thank you again Karen Sorenson
Thank you for sharing and making this pattern free!! I was able to download with no problem. As a newbie in this space of quilting I appreciate your clear instructions on the quilting processes. I have reviewed many of your videos and found the instructions to be direct and helpful. Your website has a-lot of good information and provided answers to questions I had about the cake layer concept. I will attempt this quilt as my next project. Thanks again.
Hi! I hope you are having a wonderful day and have fun plans for this week. I'm sitting with my hand quilting. I just want you to now that I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing this video, your energy and your time.
Thank you for a great show 'n tell video for making this beautiful quilt. Plus, who doesn't love a free pattern. Time to look at the layer cakes at FQS.
Thank you for your beautiful free pattern! Never tried quilting yet, but I just won a Ruby Star Society layer cake and a cutting mat from my local fabric store. I was looking for a beginner’s pattern, and really appreciate your excellent tutorials! Can’t wait to make it now! 🥰
I'm getting a 404 Not Found error on the pattern link. However, I can probably remember how to make this without the pattern. Thank you for all the videos you put out. I have learned a lot from them. Your time is a precious commodity and I'm thankful for your generosity in the giving of it to teach me and others.
Love this pattern and thank you for making it free! Is anyone else having trouble with the link for the pattern? I am getting a “sold out / can’t find” error when I click the pattern on the website. Thanks!
Love this!! Are we going to see how to make the pleated pillow that was on shorts video? Looks like pleated pillow and then cut in quarters? It’s very pretty!!

As a novice quilter, I have a question. Do you use the expensive thread for quilting the end product, or do you also use it when piecing the blocks together?
Hello Velo! Kimberly uses Aurifil thread for her piecing and the longarmers have their preferences for quilting the end product. Glide is commonly used.
I'm experiencing the same problem- the link to the pattern doesn't work. I also tried under the free layer cake tab. Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.
The quilt seams are only as strong as the thread when you press your seams open, especially if the quilt is used frequently. The seams are far more likely to break. If you have ever had to sew seams back together because of this, you will never press your seams open again. Seams that are pressed to one side have twice the strength and much less likely to come apart from being “loved”. We all want our quilts to last through several generations.
I have a question on the Branching Out pattern. The seams on My first logs don’t match up with my seams on the trunk block. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to make an adjustment? I’m a little ocd so I’d like them to match.
So sorry to bother you. I noticed on this quilt and the charm pack short cut quilt you didn't use a border. Would it be ok to add a border? And what size does this quilt finish without a border? Thank you.
I am addressing the bulk when joining rows ( joining row 1 with row2, etc). I did press the seams open from th3 beginning of construction. Could you please provide a photo to show how you joined the rows.
Thank you. Great sewing information. I also liked that you pointed out that you starched the fabric.
Thanks for yet another great #FREEQUILT pattern. I love that you're also able to starch and that you share that with us! Thanks for all you do!!!
That quilting pattern is really nice on this one!
This is a great pattern! Thanks for creating and sharing it!
Thank you Kimberly for this great tutorial and for another wonderful and free pattern. The fabric you used is fun and the colors are great.

Another incredible quilt. When I watch your videos I feel like I’m in a candy store.
What do you get the pattern printed on? Would it be like stock card. Love the video
💛
I’m kinda new at all this so I’m wondering how important it is to starch your pieces?
You’ll never regret the time you spent starching.
Hello Kimberlee! Kimberly prefers to starch because it helps her make accurate cuts.
I'm a beginner and have a fat quarter stack on hand, could I make this using that?
Hello Mama_Knitter! We have not tried that. Here is a link to the pattern bit.ly/3qJd2Ft
The link to the free pattern is saying it’s out of stock.
Hello Liz! Sorry about that we had an issue with our website. Here's a new link: bit.ly/3qJd2Ft
Was the quilting done with a template? Programed in a LQM? I like the geometry of it for top I have.
Hello Jerri! The quilting was done by our quilter Gina Tell www.thread-graffiti.com/
I'm experiencing the same problem- the link to the pattern doesn't work. I also tried under the free layer cake tab. Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.

How do I avoid bulky seams when joining rows? Please provide photo to show how rows were joined. Answer doesn't address my question.
Hello Russell! Pressing your seams open from the beginning of construction will be the best way to avoid bulky seams.
I am addressing the bulk when joining rows ( joining row 1 with row2, etc). I did press the seams open from th3 beginning of construction. Could you please provide a photo to show how you joined the rows.
