This 1st Gen Ridgeline-so underrated!-comes from the best of the best era of Honda’s, IMO (think Element, Crosstour, etc). The Ridgeline design is genius when you think about it. Kind of a truck...but more of a unibody SUV with a small truck bed. The bed “locker” space is genius design too. The AWD system in it holds it’s own against true 4x4 trucks/Jeeps off-road.
Here Here! One of a kind. Gen1 does actually have VTM lock button which distributes power to front and rear differentials... Limited slip clutch. Otherwise, it's in FWD normal cruising. I have followed Jeeps on 4wd roads, keeping in mind that I only have about 8 inches of ground clearance. She's a work horse!

@Sean Thank you ☺️ If you can find a 2014 Gen1 Ridgeline, buy it. That's the last year it was produced. I've heard lift kits on the Ridgeline mess up the steering and other front end components. Honda's engineering is spot on for the stock truck! Good luck

If you're considering traveling throughout the United States and boondocking, driving down dirt roads, or staying in campgrounds, I would stay with a CRV / SUV awd as it's more comfortable to sleep in. The CRV awd is very capable for light off roading. If you want to visit more rugged backcountry, just rent a Jeep for a day or 2 or a Razor. Good luck on your journey. You will love the USA 😃
I assume the issues are with a Ridgeline truck. Have you taken it into a mechanic? Do you have a lift kit? I have noticed that even after getting new tires and shocks, I have a slight wobble when getting up to 60mph. I think my right axle might need replacing. I would get it looked at as steering issues can be dangerous. Respectfully
Unfortunately, with AWD and no ECO mode and gas guzzler, this truck has fuel economy similar to other V6 trucks such as older Toyota Tundra & Tacoma. I have gotten 21 mpg on long highway trips. Overall, it's an awesome durable engine and truck. I rather have low mpg and longevity vs high mpg vehicle lasting only 150,000 miles.
Hello! Thank you so much for the comment. I agree the Avalanche set up is amazing. Unfortunately, I've owned a few Chevrolet and GM vehicles (pickups and SUVs), and they are not mechanically sound, and I spent too much time and $$$ at the mechanic. Enjoy your time with Mother Nature and all her creatures 😃
Hi Jason. The badge on my tailgate says 4WD but it's really an Intelligent Variable Torque Management system allowing for torque vectoring. The rear differential lock engages. I do miss having high & low locking but it has taken me down lots of rough 4wd roads with the reliability of a Honda. I know it's capabilities and account for them 🙂

The CRV awd is very capable for light off roading. If you want to visit more rugged backcountry, just rent a Jeep for a day or 2 or a Razor.
Good luck on your journey. You will love the USA 😃
A small piece of masking tape in the radio red buld or put a rag hanging from the dash board.
Excellent suggestions thank you! I'm going to use tape
I love honda but I have front suspension issues
I assume the issues are with a Ridgeline truck. Have you taken it into a mechanic? Do you have a lift kit? I have noticed that even after getting new tires and shocks, I have a slight wobble when getting up to 60mph. I think my right axle might need replacing.
I would get it looked at as steering issues can be dangerous. Respectfully
Use some black touch up paint on the red blinking light
Yeah I thought about doing that or just taping it over 👍. I'll do it before my next trip.
Could you sleep in that at 5”11
Not inside, you'd be very uncomfortable. I'm 5'7"
Have fun and be safe out there🙏
Ridgeliners whoop whoop
My sentiments exactly!! 😊
Nice!
I feel like For this type of vehicle the fuel economy would be a lot better
Unfortunately, with AWD and no ECO mode and gas guzzler, this truck has fuel economy similar to other V6 trucks such as older Toyota Tundra & Tacoma. I have gotten 21 mpg on long highway trips.
Overall, it's an awesome durable engine and truck. I rather have low mpg and longevity vs high mpg vehicle lasting only 150,000 miles.
@@trailcairn1717 Thank you for your reply I appreciate your input and you're totally correct. To which they should add echo and awd.
@@trailcairn1717 Have you given any thought to a power module? They claim to increase MPG by 5, and HP. Curious if they really work!
Buy Chevy Avalanche if you want to sleep comfortably . Whole rear wall come down and we feel so safe in bear country .
All wheel not four wheel drive.
Hi Jason. The badge on my tailgate says 4WD but it's really an Intelligent Variable Torque Management system allowing for torque vectoring. The rear differential lock engages. I do miss having high & low locking but it has taken me down lots of rough 4wd roads with the reliability of a Honda.
I know it's capabilities and account for them 🙂
I do the same thing with my 2019 Honda Ridgeline rtl-e. I love mine. I do wish it had higher ground clearance though.
I would love to add 2" lift but have heard it's not safe. Sacrifices 😣
@@trailcairn1717 they have a kit for the 2nd gen ridgeline.
@@jacobduncan8875 Lucky you!!!!!
