My first time watching your videos. This is such a great idea. I always feel bad after Christmas and I throw out the lovely cards. Not anymore. I think I’ll write on the back of the ornament who gave me the card and the year. Thank you for sharing such a sweet idea. 😊
Janis I think the idea of recycling the cards is a great way of having the memory of the individual who sent you the card that they included you in their celebration.
I agree your voice and demeanor is very comforting. God bless you and yours. Your tutorial is very precise and love how you covered every step of the process.
My first time here, too. The red tassel makes the berries pop so I believe it was the right decision. Ironically, we don't have Christmas, but I love this idea for birthday gifts for our grandkids. I thought it would be a great idea to use their own pictures, decorate them with their favorite colors, and add tassels, charms, or anything else that would show what they love. It could be a basketball, a dog, maybe a flute, their initials, or a school LOGO. How fun to have that hanging on their bedroom door, their wall, or possibly in their school locker. Just some additional ideas I had while watching you make this. Now, i can't wait to get started. We have 21 grandchildren (so far) so I have my work cut out for me. lol OH! I just might make a day of it and have them help me, too. What a great way to make new memories and enjoy each other's company. Thanks so very much for this!
So beautiful! Thanks so much for this tutorial! These are perfect for small Christmas gifts. And, the amount of time and love in making each one will make them a treasured gift for years to come!🌲
I agree that both the white and the red tassels look nice on that ornament. But, I like the red best because it goes so well with the red gem. Beautiful ornament! Thanks for your inspirational videos!
Lori, for me you never make mistakes It looks beautiful w/ red teasel The whole ornament looks so beautiful God bless your hands God bless you and your family Thank you for everything you teaching us ❤🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
First time watching and thrilled I came across your channel. I'm a "bird-aholic" and love Christmas, so I'll be on the lookout for cards in which I can make ornaments. I'll go through my previous cards, as I save them year-to-year, and see what I can start on for next Christmas.
I love how you cut the pics out of the card. I have used that exact gold around the edge of a wood ornament. I also got several colors from Amazon. It is actually very inexpensive and comes out so beautiful. You add so much detail and embellishments that enhance the beauty of the ornament. Thanks for showing this! 🥰🎄
New to your channel loving it already I make other decorations out of my old cards never would have guessed it love your idea best thank you, thank you❤🎅☃️🙏 Merry Christmas!!!!!!
I had bought a bag of the wooden pieces, some round and some oval and never could figure out how to make them into a nice ornament! Your ornament is so beautiful and your ideas the best! I love it! Hope your Christmas is as beautiful as your ornament!
This ornament is really beautiful! What a gorgeous way to use Christmas cards. Thanks for showing us the inexpensive 'gold' foil. I had never seen that before but would like to try it.
Love the birds! My cousin just sent me some vintage Christmas cards she found cleaning out her mother’s house when she passed. I can’t wait to see what I can come up with. ❤️
I really enjoy watching you doing these crafts you do. They remind me of my dear grandma when she use to craft. These are the old school crafting that I grew up with. Thanks for the sweet memories. You are doing a great job in bringing beauty to your world. God bless you!
Lori , that is absolutely gorgeous!! I think what appeals to me with your pieces is all the detail work. As you know, I love detail work myself, and your creations are always stunning. Since watching your first one, were you use that base I’ve ordered the card stock. I’ve ordered the Fabri-tax. I’ve ordered some triple thick as my old jar was dried up. I just have to get the glitter paper or card stock for the ends. I already have strings of pearls in my stash that I can use I know I have a bunch of cards and I do have some rhinestones. I will have to get a few of those little paints that you used to accent it and the gold flakes ,but I’m excited to make this project! And I don’t think you could go wrong on the tassel as either one would’ve looked gorgeous. I think the red pulled all the red down from the top and really went well. Had you used the white it would’ve been gorgeous as well. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I absolutely enjoyed every minute. And cannot wait to make something similar ,of course ,using the cards I have.😁❤️
I've never seen you on RUclips before and I love what you are doing with the ornament, but I would have liked to have had a link to how you did the base for the ornament and a link to it would have helped a lot with this. The ornament is so pretty and so well-done. Love it. :D For me--I love the red tassel. The ornament just keeps getting more and more beautiful and I've so enjoyed watching you create it.
My mother in law would save all kinds of cards for recycling ♻️ to make something else. She used birthday cards, Christmas cards, wedding cards, etc. She saved everything. Then she would rework them into decorations or pictures or Christmas Advent Calendar boxes for her grandchildren. One year she took an old wooden Coke bottle case and painted it in all the nooks and crannies. Then she cut the Christmas cards to match the shape so it would flap down to cover the small square opening. She glued it to the inside top of the opening. She did this for each square opening to total the days of December. After the card covers had all dried she filled each opening with enough candies 🍬 and treats for each child in our family. Oh, I forgot. Before she glued the cards onto the box she wrote the day number on each card. My kids were elated!! We reused that Advent calendar for many years. It was time consuming but grandma was artsy crafty that way. I like arts and crafts too, so I got a lot of inspiration from her.😊
Hi Happy Bird, This ornament is so pretty. The gold flakes brings it to a whole new level. Those flakes are on my HL list. A tip I was given that has saved me a lot of time is to add a dot of hot glue to whatever glue your using to give it a secure hold while the other glue is drying so you can continue on with the craft. Obviously it wouldn’t work with the flakes. Ex: had u added a dot of hot glue after putting on the other glue to the bale u could have continued with the pearls . You may already know this and would rather wait for things to dry. I thought I would mention incase you or your subscribers were not aware of what I find is a great tip.😊
I absolutely LOVE this!! You came to my rescue! I have a similar project in mind, but couldn't think how to glam it up and still honor the memory it's meant for. This is perfect. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
I just wanted to tell you that I’m so sorry for your loss…our pets are our family, our babies…we mourn the loss no differently ~~ I love that you made him Christmas ornaments every year ! This ornament would be absolutely perfect!! God Bless 💕🙏💕
I love your ornament. I save my Christmas cards each year so I;m going to make some ornaments. This is the first time I have watched you. How did you make the circle? What is it made of?
I just stumbled on this and would love to try it. How did you make your circle base and where can I find a 3 inch punch like that?? I love this idea. My parents are both gone and I'd love to memorialize them using the old cards they sent.
If you don't have a punch use a small jar lid, trace a circle and cut it out by hand. I cut a circle out of a piece of card board, so it looks like a window. This allows you to see exactly what your circle will look like.
The knotless lace great idea makes a huge difference, so pretty and adore the tiny details. I don't have cranberry stickles My Hobbycraft doesn't stock much, if any now. The tassel, both look good, for me it would've been white, cos the edging is the same colour and I felt the white made the robins pop, but equally the red also tied in beautifully. Thank you again for sharing the Christmas deco ideas, I really look forward to your videos, and all year round 🎄🤶
I love the ornament. Probably because they are birds. About 30 years ago I was taught to gold leaf and did a few projects and never did any more. I moved away. But this is really cute. I use Fabric -Tac to join two ends of ribbons together when I make ornaments. I have that Alenes art glue too but have not used it yet. I’m only up this early because I couldn’t sleep last night. I your one hour ahead. I think red was a good choice, it pops the ornament. Well, I’m going to try to get rest. I’m punchy. Have a great day!
Love this ornament, I like recycling my cards. I liked the red tassel best. The white one would go great with a winter theme I think. Thanks for coming up with another great craft idea, May God richly bless you.
I like the red it balances off with the birds, berries and red gemstone bow at the top of the ornament. This is a beautiful ornament. Can't wait to make. Thank you for sharing your video. I enjoyed watching and listening to you speak. You have such a soothing voice to listen to. Stay Blessed, Safe and Healthy From Florida 🇺🇸
So, yeah, YAY, because you fell into my feed this morning! Somehow our paths have never crossed before, but now I'm starting the vid over on one device and commenting on another. 😂🤣😂 Your voice is so calming! The fact that I'm so totally on board with what you're doing is just a perk! I struggled with the holidays - Thanksgiving through New Years - for DECADES (it's a long and sordid story) but I am now over myself and everyone else involved and am "doing" Christmas for the first time in what feels like forever. PRAISE GOD!! I have made an ornament with the help of Antonio Makes and will absolutely be adding a few of these to my repertoire. They're gorgeous! I never knew that "real" gold leaf was fly-away-ier (??) than "fake" gold leaf. That explains a lot!! Evidence of crafts past continues to float about my house! I love the dipping sponge to pick up a little piece of gold... Brilliant! One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments, for sure! As luck would have it I have virtually everything (or a suitable substitute) you've used here with the exception of, ironically, the card, but that's an easy fix. TYFS this! I will absolutely be making a few of these after church. God bless you! New subbie here for sure! Hugs from the southern California desert, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗 PS... YAY again cuz I voted for the ❤red❤ tassel!

This is my first time finding you as well and I need to find out how to make your 3-inch circles that you mentioned you've discussed before or maybe we can find one of your videos that will teach us. I would love to make a set of these and either keep for myself or give away for gifts. Thank you so much for sharing your ornament ideas.
What a beautiful way to use up Christmas cards.I loved everything you did and you did transform it from a pretty card to a beautiful decoration! Thank you for sharing. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ❤

With every video you post I think "oh, that's the prettiest!". I love these birds, so beautiful. Did you say you got the stickles at Hobby lobby? I don't have one in my area but I may need to make the 2 hour drive.
For me, the red was the perfect choice. It's a beautiful ornament. I'd love to put a layer of resin over the image (you'd have to seal it first) - it would make a beautiful glisten to it, and the back as well. And may I just say, your voice is really soothing - you should tag your videos as ASMR! I added this one to my favorites.
What does ASMR mean? I've been trying to find out for a year and no one has ever replied to my question about it. Maybe I'm just stupid and the only one who doesn't know what it means?
@@jojomart Hello jojomart! Thank you so much for letting me know what ASMR stands for. I've seen it all over RUclips from videos I've watched, but never saw anyone saying what it means. You have made my day. 🤩
Yes red is the correct color it compliments the birds. Tfs, your tutorial is excellent! I love that you used a Christmas card to make the ornament. I love handmade ornaments and will practice so I can make one for several people on my list. Thanks again.
If it were me, I'd get a kick out of them using the cards I'd sent them before. Somebody mentioned they think on the back they'll put who sent it to them and which year, and I think that would be cool to receive. It would be very personalized.
I enjoy listening to your craft videos so much that I watch them all the way through instead of sort of skipping like I do some others. Very relaxing and enjoyable to watch you make lovely things. And I use old makeup brushes too! They are perfect for some things.
So many beautiful cards over the years, yes store bought... now gone... This would be a lovely way to remember a loved one who is no longer here using a card they gave you.
Hi, just came across this...first time watching, we'll even though you have showed others before I have not seen how you made the circle glitter, did you use modge podge and glitter?
Ive tried reusing old cards as ornaments but they looked too amatuer. I like how the gold frames it. I dont have the gold leaf but do have other metalic markers and highlight stains. Using little pearls as border too is great idea. We retired to a small town and Ive been given so much from other people's grandma's stash. Im basically a sewist but looking how to scrap bust all caterogries into holiday decore and decorations. Thanks so much! oh, will see how you did the round base.
This ornament is so breathtaking. All the embellishments you do are beautiful every craft you've done is beautiful I have not seen one video that I did not like. Thank you for sharing.

This is one of the most beautiful ornaments I've ever seen. 1st time on your channel, I'll be watching more. Thank you for such a great idea
The ornament is absolutely beautiful ❤️
Red tassel looks great. Very pretty Christmas ornament, tfs!
First time watching you and I really enjoyed it. The ornament it’s beautiful 😍, I liked both tassels, couldn’t choose.
Pretty! No tassel needed...looks like "The Guilded Age" - just lovely!!! ❤❤❤
Bore me to death? I don’t think so! I was so mesmerized watching this, time flew by. Please can we see more of these? More please✝️💕Merry Christmas 💕
Absolutely gorgeous, really beautiful ❤❤❤
This is so beautiful, I can hardly wait to try this!😊
I enjoy listening to your craft videos so much that I watch them all the way through instead of sort of skipping like I do some others. Very relaxing and enjoyable to watch you make lovely things. And I use old makeup brushes too! They are perfect for some things.
Beautifully done. Would loved to have seen this hanging on a tree
So many beautiful cards over the years, yes store bought... now gone... This would be a lovely way to remember a loved one who is no longer here using a card they gave you.
White tassel! Superb job! A gorgeous ornament is the result!
Hi, just came across this...first time watching, we'll even though you have showed others before I have not seen how you made the circle glitter, did you use modge podge and glitter?
Beautiful. Love the detailing!
I love this ornament, it's gorgeous! What a great idea to use christmas cards to make them! ❤😊
I'm a little bit in awe! It's traditional but fresh, intricate but achievable, and impactful but delicate. Outstanding!
This ornament is so breathtaking. All the embellishments you do are beautiful every craft you've done is beautiful I have not seen one video that I did not like. Thank you for sharing.

I used to get most of my rhinestones, pearls and trims off of Ebay. Much better quantities and lower prices.

"Okay," maybe you have good ideas, "okay," but you could have done this whole video in 10 minutes. "Okay?" I literally skipped 3/4 of your mindless chatter. "Okay." Thanks for the idea, "okay," but I'll not waste my time again. "Okay?"
