Now that I'm a ham, my understanding of TV antennas is way better than when I started with TV. Your detail here is very valuable compared to almost every other video based on the frequency and antenna knowledge

We recently dropped cable TV and internet
phone from Xfinity, only using antennas for
Over The Air TV and cell phones. We only
have 1.2 GB internet, and our monthly bill
went down about $100.00 a month.
We mostly watch streaming services now.
Our OTA TV from Boston is only a bit over
30 miles SE from Nashua, NH.

Eric, FYI Chris and his wife Sheri are the founder and owners of Antop. Their You Tube channel for fun is Technomedia. They also have their business RUclips channel is Antop. They spend most of their time during the winter in your neck of the woods living in their old restored Chris craft cabin cruiser. As well as some of their time on their ranch in Texas, and their small condo RV park property in the Arizona area. Chris is always attending the trade shows in Vegas and Miami. Under the FCC repack a lot of the TV station have switched to low power VHF Channels 6-13. channels 2-5 are now part of Win link hybrid interstate public safety network. WB6NOA Gordo and the W5FYI group are all part of it. The best thing about the Antop antenna's is their smart filter has 5 g LTE filtering. The other really good brand specifically cut for the US FCC repack are the Televis antenna's. They come with a pass through amplifier with LTE filtering. If the amplifier fails for some reason the antenna will still work.

I’m currently testing a panorama manufacturer antenna with a cradle point 5G lte router on cellular band 14. It’s freq. is about 750mhz. The Panorama antenna looks almost identical to this antenna without the vhf arms. It’s for At&t firstnet.

Nice and informative video for sure. What I am wondering is if you would recommend the best TV brand with smart features. Something in the sixty plus inch size is just fine fella. Keep up the great work and keep us all informed too. vf

I have one of these antop antennas an older one it works pretty good. I would like to get more channels and by maybe combine two of them together. I have five TVs in the house and the amplifier / splitter making them all work. If they want to sell more antennas maybe they could give instructions on buying two antennas and how to install them and make five TVs or more work.

We only had an antenna for tv up till about 1990 when cable came up our road. It's funny how antennas are now "rediscovered". 🙃 KQ2N

Just throwing out another super easy, super cheap DIY antenna. Just YT "GRAY HOVERMAN" DIY antenna. For many people it will pick up even VHF well enough that they don't need a separate VHF antenna. I made one (w/o reflector), added the "RCA TVPRAMP12E" preamp then tied into the current cable supplied spitter system and it feed 4 TVs and works great. Even easier is the Stealth Hawk antenna with is about 90 as good and stupid simple. So....there is no excuse why someone can't afford a great outdoor antenna and quit paying the cable company. You make a great point about these still working when other sources have dropped out.

Tell your HOA to shove it. They can’t do squat if your antenna is smaller than a 1 meter diameter. www.fcc.gov/media/over-air-reception-devices-rule
They can give me crap about my ham antennas but they can’t touch my tv antenna.

    Hi Eric,
I remember watching the previous video you made. The signal booster with dual output looks interesting. Could the second output be sent to a distribution amp for more than one TV connection? Stay safe. 73 WJ3U

I thought the video was good information. I don’t like paying outrageous amounts of money for cable or satellite TV. And I know I had rather watch something interesting than watch 1 minute of the bachelor much less a half hour of it. You make excellent points.

Not knowing how far he is from the broadcast stations makes it hard to validate this review. If you are close to the broadcast stations a piece of wire will perform as well as a large antenna array. The DB8E (large antenna he showed on the ground) is for getting signal for those that are on the fringe of the coverage area.

Something I would be concerned with, is proximity to your Amateur Radio antenna's, and your Tv antenna's !
Especially if the Tv antenna's incorporate a receive pre-amp ?
Running anything more than low power, I would fear swamping the amp, not to mention feeding RF into the Tv directly !
Something old tube type Tv's might have handled, but not so much these fragile three legged fuse types !
( Meaning surface mount and Transistor technology ).
    🤔....?
As to the Directional Flat Panel antenna's, I think even the cheapest Antenna Rotor would rotate those, with little effort !
Eliminating the need to purchase more than one Antenna !
Lastly...., for optimum reception, height is your friend !
    The higher the better !
Getting away for Ground clutter, ( buildings, tree's, etc. ),
will only add to your success !
And it is imperative that good quality, Low loss feed line is used for best result's !
RG-6 Quad shield is a great go to !
    IMHO !
    👍😉
