Better than I expected when I saw all that plastic in the beginning. I just added an OTA antenna to my tv for the first time ever last week after switching to streaming from cable and wanted local channels for hurricane info. Thanks for showing this, the cheap amplified antenna I got on amazon isn't really doing the job. Also, the manufacturer's website has a nice tv transmitter map, it's pretty nifty.

First, six sections would be sextants instead of quadrants. Second, since the top three plates are shorted and the bottom three are shorted, there is 120 degree symmetry; as long as the bottom plates are aligned with the outer ring it will work fine -- some optimum orientation might make a fraction of dB difference, but likely that will make it slightly directional if it exists. Third the outer ring is also connected to the board in three places providing directional information as three phases -- I don't know how or whether they use that information. Without doing the math, I would expect three commensurate amplifiers with phase shifts to reduce the 120 degree separations to zero followed by a sum. Fourth, the switch probably reduces gain to prevent overdriving the TV pre-amp in cases where a station is nearby.

Would have been interesting to compare the signal for the received FM stations with that of a half wave dipole to see how the S/N of this antenna compares with dipole in the unpowered mode and with the amp turned on.
The distance claims are probably assumed over flat terrain, the transmitter operating at the max legal limit, and max tower height, etc.

Thanks for your in-depth and comprehensive review of it! Directly dismember the product description and judge the professionalism of its design and electrical design from a professional point of view.

That was much more interesting inside than I imagined! It's all black magic.

Why not connect it to your VNA and see where it’s really resonant? In a metro area 20-30db of gain is asking for trouble. Huge possibility of creating intermod

Looks like 2x sets of 3 horz dipoles VHF and UHF + a vertical for DAB [I think they are called pinwheel antennas]

Big wheels! I wonder what kind of charecteristics will be on the VNA, and is it possible to listen to 70cm or 23cm with this?

I wonder if this Antenna/Amp could help in receiving Satellites on the 136 to 138 MHz band

What the antenna has to do with "4K / 8K" compatibility, is what's referred to in the industry as "marketing wank"
