    Nice Eric! I've worked a few QSOs on SO-50 similar way - with an IC-705 hung on my neck and hand-pointing the antenna... Although IC-705 isn't full-duplex, furthermore having only one VFO, it seems to be very handy for FM SATs... I adjust Doppler easily according to waterfall, record QSOs to SD card, store SATs as Split channels that can be easily tuned around with the main dial... The only disadvantage (apart from the duplex) is how to hang it on the neck so that you can see the display...

      No actually, I screwed up the microphone recording feature on the radio, so I had to turn up the mic game on the camera for the video so high that you can hear the waterfall from the hot tub into the pool.

    You should always run low power when using a satellite. if you run more power the satellite tries to use more power and your spoil it for the rest trying to use the satellite

    • @HamRadioConcepts
      @HamRadioConcepts 2 года назад +1

      Tell that to the station in Mexico that is always completely wiping out the satellite with a full KW,. I cut my angry part of the video out but he lives on satellites and you only ever hear him the entire pass

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez 2 года назад

      @@HamRadioConcepts When i was doing my 2e0 training we learned about satellites and how much power you use you should only run 5W its enough to work a satellite i worked a few here in the UK using only 5W

    • @w3tua

      It could be done on 1 watt but you're not overloading the satellite using 5 watts and an Elk antenna.
