Love that first snow fall, it’s so beautiful and cozy at the cabin.
But after 12 feet a year and 7 months it does get old.

It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

I am. Also in MN. And have heard it is best to leave the trees alone. The ice then snow does less damage than the possible breaks a person causes. Who knows, I too sometimes do the same. Two days ago from the same storm maybe.

@@MelSogo who knows but my bet is it depends on the species etc.. I have seen the tops of trees touching the ground like an upside down “U”. The red cedars, birch’s, red & white pines (young) etc survive. I did gently shake two red cedars two days ago from probably the same storm. Just east of His place near Lake Superior got lake effect snow and really got up to twice the amount of snow. Our snow belt…. I wish you all a great season, enjoy your adventure! Go Vikes😳, SKOL

I live in NE Minnesota as well, we got hit with just under 2 feet in our area. I know you love being as resourceful as possible (as do I), but events like these makes having a snowblower such a game changer.
It's good to go over all the smooth parts of the snow removal with a rake quickly to rough it up so that it's not so slippery when it hardens.
Of all the channels I watch this is the most enjoyable and gives me piece of mind !!!

Beautiful winter scenery in Minnesota, nothing like it! One thing people don't realize is that the work load you have to put in to have an off-grid home. You showed how much work you have to put in and it is day after day. Have a wonderful holiday season!

We always scrape off top layer of snow and get the snow below it and melt it uses it for cooking and drinking water the top if not no tracks or yellowing spots or skat we uses that to melt and wash off with. Nice and very good to have a snow blower it helps a lot.
What have I told you about those old Fords? They always start in the cold and you can always pull them out from the snow. Years ago when I went to college in Utah I had a 64 Ford Galaxie that was the most sure-footed car imaginable almost as good as a four-wheel drive. I'd go out on the cold mornings and start it up and it would always pull out from snow Banks. I love that car. Anyway I wondered how you guys were doing in this snow. More coming in. Stay warm. Snow blowers are great till the wind changes and dumps it back on you. I was always amazed at the news stories every year about people getting hurt with one. That and people leaving their ice fishing shantys on the lake too long in the spring. Someone borrowed my neighbors dump truck and drove it out on a lake once. It didn’t end well.

I have to be honest. I am in no way a fan of winter....I would much rather live some place where the seasons are "wet" and "dry." Curacao, Bonaire and Grand Turk come immediately to mind.
That said, this is a great video. The scenery is beautiful, and one can just feel the coziness and serenity of the cabin during the snowstorm.
Question: Honestly, I don't know the cost involved, but have you ever considered putting solar panels on the roof?
