  • welcome back,in this video I give my opinion on 10 hours or riding my 2022 ktm 500 excf. I explain things that I like about this bike and things I don't like. two things I forgot to mention are, the engine vibrates a bit more than I'm used to.you feel the vibrations in the foot pegs and Handel bars,but not so much that your hands get tingling feelings or go numb.and I have gone for 3-4 hour rides.the other thing I want to mention is that when you first get the bike,the kick stand pops up as soon as you lift the bike up to ride it. KTM supplies a bolt that you can install that keeps the kickstand down until you lift it back up.this enduro bike is a single track weapon that successfully does enduro,sand pits and woods trails better than any other bike I have ever owned.I really hope you enjoyed this video,thanks for watching.please subscribe to my channel. thank you.if you like or didn't like this review please

    Got mine yesterday 17 min riding,seems lighter steering than hva-19 more aggressive,like alot so far,sooo nimble and from so short time i cant see anything negative with pds! Here in sweden uncorked race ready no blinkers and mirrors,for me asphalt is a pain eats tire,only use it in the forest, here no ignition key !100% race machine!

    Nice bike, i sell my CBR 1100 to comeback on Enduro like when i was a 9 yo kid, good old days, and im going back with one of these.... Discussin about 2T and 4T, the ethernal dilema, and riding 2T on all my bikes except 2 bikes (Bandit 400 and CBR 1100) and i´ll go for the 4T for reability and mechanil problems.

    The owner of the dealership is an ex.mx pro and he told me you dont have to change oil after a couple of hours,10-15 is ok,these bikes comes breaked in!
    I also watched a video were they used and abused a brand new 300 ktm 2 stroke without oil change and filter clean for 100 hours,when they took it apart everything was fine! Not recommended but a proof that these machines can stand pretty much!

    Bought one! Haven’t picked it up yet, here in sweden it doesn’t have ignition key and no mirrors and blinkers on ,comes in a box ! Here its only for competition,comes uncorked! Swapped it from my hva 501 -19.
    Just an impulsive deal when life gets boring,about 5 kg lighter than my hva! Well see what it can do! I also got suspension for 100 kg and skidplate in the deal witch is a must!

    How is the throttle response on the 500? Is there a smooth on off throttle or is it abrupt? Is there a lot of engine braking when the throttle is closed?

    • @adventureswithkatem
      @adventureswithkatem  2 года назад

      Response is really smooth and predictable, there is massive engine breaking due to the high compression engine.

    The thing I hate the most about my 2020 KTM 500 is the transmission ratios. 4th and 5th are so close and 5th and 6th are so spread out. This really ruins the rideability. I don't know what KTM was thinking.

    • @adventureswithkatem

      I agree 100%.it's like having a 5 speed transmission.

      They're likely anticipating people upgrading the power to run the tall 6th gear. Do some power mods and I'll bet it pulls 6th gear.

    • @vigoswiegers2542
      @vigoswiegers2542 2 года назад

      We have a 2018 500 and same problem, its nice if your doing single track where you only go to 4th or 5th but you have to give it some gas to be able to use 6th gear, plus ours is sprocketed 14:44 for Rallying. So you have to get to like 70 or 80kmh in 5th before 6th will be able to pull and get you somewhere. The 2010 530 we have has way beter gearing and goes the same speed with 14:50 sprocketing

    How does it handle a long trip on the highway at 65-70 mph? I’ve been looking at dual sports and would like to get a lighter bike that’s more capable in the dirt but the nearest trails are a pretty good ride away

    • @adventureswithkatem
      @adventureswithkatem  2 года назад +1

      I haven't gone more than a 20 minute highway trip on it, but it would definitely need a softer seat and perhaps taller gearing. But other than that it's great.

      @@adventureswithkatem I’ve been looking at the 690 enduro but it’s a little heavier than I wanted for a bike I’d like to take off-roading. That said I guess it might be a better fit for my situation having to travel 75-100 miles to get to the trails. I believe the 500 would be way more capable in the dirt and woods though. To address the rear mud flap rubbing the lower shock mount on the swing arm grab a stick on wheel weight and stick it there. If it wears just slap another on in. Easy fix. Get the Acerbis VSL head light. The larger "clicker" you are calling compression is preload, not compression - make sure they are set to the same preload number.

    • @ennigmaa
      @ennigmaa Год назад

      Ya sure but that leaves the arm grab out with the lower shock mount that makes it stick the preload . I rather head light Acerbic with the lack of power thereof.
