Melancholy... I fucking love this demo version over the single. Same deal with Candidate. The Pennine/Picadilly recording of Candidate is one of my favorite songs, ever.
Yeah, I've always heard that Ian was just a regular guy like the rest of them on the outside. Hooky and Barney hating each other is a bit interesting though, especially if it went back as far as Joy Division. I've read "Touching From A Distance" though one thing did bother me which was Deborah's portrayal of Annik. I guess that's expected though. Tony Wilson's first wife wrote a JD book as well, I want to check that out. I'll definitely buy Hooky's book though, thanks.
@@TLSongsss I'm going off Hooky's book which describes it as a kind of organ. I have the same Hohner Soprano melodica that Ian used (same colour as well).
Ahh, thanks. It's amazing these all came out in the 70's and how great they sound, especially for being some of the first pads. I got the email for 3 videos but only one is showing up in the inbox here. Try to send them again and I'll try to get them added.
Anybody pick up any slight Velvet Underground-esque vibes? Especially towards the "I'm just crossing the line / trying to get by / just crossing the line" part.
lyric different from atmosphere with its emphasis on crossing the line///crossing back across the linsee me crossing back to to where she belongs, it even ends with "crossing the line in last second of song. THE flip side of this 12' 2 SONG RECORD has a 5minute "She Lost Control" with new lyric 4:10 - 5:03 roughly when split the sharing gone and THE DARKNESS In i broke down and cried, the sharing gonel// link to this flip side of this 12" 2 song record. It was released and sold--the cover is exactly as one above ruclips.net/video/FVgoV9TgYEI/видео.html
Atmosphere will always be my funeral soundtrack. This song means so much for me, a means to an end. A pure atrocity exhibition. I am 36 and I have lost control, avenues all lined with trees. My ceremony. If only I had another Chance. But now... Life rebuilding. And walk away.
I don't think this is Martin Hammett > it's from a session recorded for a radio session. Still... Martin Hammett, bloody genius either way and architect of the sound they'd adopted.
Please don't do what you're about to do, friend. When you listen closely, you may hear that Joy Division is full of life. You can feel it again too if you let people help you.
Put them up, it would be interesting to see. You seem to be knowledgeable on the subject so I'll ask you. What is the synth that makes that distinct laser gun (I do not know how to describe it other than that) sound on the track Insight by JD? A drum synth perhaps?
Nope, still can't stand this version, even after hearing this numerous times all these "decades",thats just my opinion of course, and as others have said, yes this just sounds too Velvet Underground, for my liking anyway, give me the single version any day.
I feel like it's just the weird accordion sounding key board which sounds a bit like cale. also with curtis' voice being a little off, sounding a bit like a lou's voice. while I love the instrument used in this version over the synth, the lyrics or could've been drafted some more or maybe just the vocals redone. .
Impossible for me to not cry while hearing this, it's a masterpiece.
i like this version of atmosphere, there is more sensibility in his voice

their demos are so beautiful
People like you find it easy , always in tune , walking on air , the vulnerability and passion of mr Ian Curtis makes me weep
Anyone else hearing the influence of "All Tomorrow's Parties" on this version?
ElectricLabel amen
I'd rather suppose that it's the VU's Heroin
@@wanderer.1362 , Absolutely!
This version has some kind of bright happines in it

Great version. The keyboards drone. Nice to have several versions of this masterpiece.

Endless talking... life rebuilding .. don't walk away..
Beautiful.
stupenda non avevo mai sentito questa versione !
the accordion sounds so cool
It's an old plastic organ.

It may happen soon, then maybe you'll care.
hardest line to swallow
Yep for sure
Genial, sublime, años luz del resto de las bandas, simplemente incomparables
I love this band
Amazing

Makes it plain and simple that even though Ian wanted this band to be the Stooges, he was really making it into the Velvets...
Damn….. he tells (presumable slip) the listener to walk away in this version at one point 😮
3:02 - 3:28 (intense foreshadow?)
His voice on the crossing the line bit reminds me of me da with a hangover.
This should go on for 10 minutes
class love it
I like it better than the "official" version. This is the sound that twats like Bongo of Upoo pay Eno to create
Fuck bono

sounds like heroin a little bit
you sound like heroin... it's a mental desease which everybody faces but none almost can express
Aram Zulumyan what are you saying mate?
VU was a huge influence on the band.
It has Heroin's chord progression, so it's pretty obvious.

Reality at it's hard to say but thank you for putting it out in the air forever ❣️
and then he crossed the line and walked away. Never got back.
Bone chilling
FoReveR...♡.
This shows the genius of Martin Hammett . How he produced a sound for Joy Division which the band were unaware of .
I don't think this is Martin Hammett > it's from a session recorded for a radio session.
Still... Martin Hammett, bloody genius either way and architect of the sound they'd adopted.
He meant the difference of this and Atmosphere
No doubt bout Hannett's magic touch but the band wasn't that far...
Love it
Grande ian curtis uma pena que morreu cedo
Una version velvetiana.
Never heard that. Very interesting.
great..................
I prefer the lyrics in this version.
I accepted it so it should be showing up, unless there's a problem with RUclips.
Is there a physical copy available to buy if this song
I’m ready to die
Please don't do what you're about to do, friend. When you listen closely, you may hear that Joy Division is full of life. You can feel it again too if you let people help you.
did you?
Pretty sure Ian is playing guitar here since Barney was on the keys.
Can't be Ian, he didn't have that touch. It was Barney for sure

TM Where'd you find this recording?
Insight uses a Syn drum pad
Pela dos em santos
No problem.
How's the book? Is it any good?
Velvet Underground influence this version obviously...
